Renovations Landscaping

Took our $11,000 deposit on a retaining wall project and never did any work. Will not return our deposit even tho its been 7 months. Asked for and was given 2nd and 3rd chances to make things right. Again Renovations did not show for their promised start dates (3 more times besides the 10 last year). No calls or explanations, crickets. Also the owner replies to reviews as a trick to make it sound like he is the victim or not at fault. Please read the BBB reports for Renovations. Beware.

We selected Renovations LandScaping (Ben Seidl - Owner) for a Retaining Wall project 10/27/2022. Matt (Ben’s Project manager at the time) came out with another employee on 11/01/2022. They collected an $11k check from us (50% of project cost per contract), and then immediately left. Nobody has been out since and not 1 shovel of dirt has been dug.

Since the stealing of our $11k deposit: From 11/01/22 thru 12/20/22 I received approximately 15 texts from Matt (I have copies) with various statements (excuses) for why they never showed up after scheduling multiple times.

On 12/15/2022, the wife and I decided that we needed to take action, so I texted Matt and told him we were done, that we felt they (Renovations) was in breach of contract and that we wanted our $11k back ASAP. Matt's response was that he was just a Project Manager and really could not do anything about their issues with the project. He further stated that while he did bring Sergio out to our property to do the work, it was identified that they COULD NOT perform the required work (then why did they accept contract and take our money, seems like fraud to me).

I have Ben after Ben and Renovations Landscaping to give my deposit back ever since. Ben has refused.

Ben has tricks that he tries to negate the poor reviews people have posted like posting replies (lies) trying to make it sound like he is responsive and a stand up guy. On my Google reviews below, Ben Seidl replies he emailed me several times to try and start the project. Not so (absolute lie). I emailed him AGAIN asking for my deposit of $11k back (from 11/01/22 which he never mentions). He did Finally reply to one recent email and says give me another chance. We agree (Warning, Ben is a master manipulator, do not fall for it).
He comes out 05/23/23 with a new Project Manager. I Again go over the job passing Them copies of the original written agreement. Ben says this is an easy job and they will make it right.
I get texts 05/24/23 & 05/26/23 saying they are trying to figure things out.
Then on 05/30/23 I get Text saying they are ready and things will start 05/31/23. Guess What. No Show (Just like all of the times promised last year). Absolutely NO contact from Ben to say why they did not show.
Then on 06/12/23 (Over 2wks later), Ben Texts and Tells me his guys will be at my house at noon that same day. Well they show up, its a new Project Manager and another new worker. Again I have to step them through the job and give them copy of the original signed agreement. They say they will be starting tomorrow 06/13/23.
Guess What, No Show Again, No Contact or explanation Again.

Ben, you can't or won't or never intended to do the job you collected our $11k deposit for. RETURN OUR DEPOSIT, You did not do any work (not one shovel after 6.5mo). That is stealing and fraud. We are Done with you.

On the BBB site Ben Seidl and Bryce Johnson are listed as the Renovations Landscaping contacts (with Ben as owner). BBB says they are not a member. I have filed a complaint with the Colorado State Attorney General. I am going to take Legal action like others have had to, but he seems to get away with his unscrupulous activities (and he knows all the tricks). I have Posted Reviews on every site I can about Ben and his Renovations Landscaping and will continue to do so until I get my deposit back.
