Bought a 1998 V70 June 2019 for top dollar ($3500) on Don’t mind spending that for a decent car but when I find a LIST of things very wrong driving it from the delivery truck 1/8th mile to my house (battery wouldn’t even start the car on arrival. Had to throw it out, wouldn’t take a charge.)
V 70 Base Model
-upper front struts need replaced, rattling & loose
-ABS light is on
-Light out some where
-Left rear door won’t open
-Left rear window won’t go up
-seat cover torn and shoddily hand
stitched
-headliner stained, needs replaced
-Rust bubble left rear 1/4 panel
-Odometer/Gauge Cluster
doesn’t work at all
-Parts missing in lower bumper that
were in pic in ad
-Battery no good
I haven’t even dug in to see what else is wrong with the car! Can’t drive it cause I can’t afford to do the repairs to pass PA inspection with just what I have found wrong so far.
They charged me to transfer to an Illinois sales tax & title fee ($300)which I didn’t need since I had it shipped to PA. Then sent me their original signed off title and didn’t refund the tax or fees I paid. Will have to pay tax & registration fees again on Pa
They also removed the listing from eBay before the transaction was complete (did not list it as sold) so I couldn’t give them a review on the transaction since they knew the car was a piece of crap!
Never had a dealer transaction on eBay that was this terrible! Rated them one star cause I couldn’t do any less (deserved a minus rating!)
Any contact attempts were ignored
I just came across this site today 2/19/20 and why this review is so far past the purchase date.
They will probably do like most of the other reviews and refuse to acknowledge my complaint/review or say it’s been handled.

What repair shop is it at? Are they qualified to work on a vBMW engine? Do they have BMW diagnostic equipment? Very important when you buy a foreign you cannot just take it to anyone!

I must speak on behalf of my entire staff who was rewarded an A+ grade with the BBB of Northern Illinois. Selling hundreds of satisfied customers, every once in a while you come across... a nice, pleasant individual who purchased a [redacted] X5 from us and was so happy, she could not thank us enough. After she took delivery of the vehicle, some mechanical issues occurred, which at this stage of our response I will let our Senior Technician describe in detail:After 30+ days of ownership, Margaret brought her car to us because it was leaking break fluid. After spending nearly $1,000 on a new master cylinder and break booster, the vehicle was returned to her. Although our policy is AS-IS, we still reached in our pockets to fix her vehicle. We wished she'd understand that a 12 year-old [redacted] needs service and maintenance. We are NOT a [redacted] Dealership or Service Center that is able to address her vehicle's future needs. That being said, this past Friday afternoon on February 12th, 2016, she brought the vehicle back to us with two separate options we felt were fair. Keep in mind, she owns this vehicle; the transaction was complete in December of 2015. She has extremely blemished credit, which limited our options, she has no additional money down, which also limited our options, and she did not want a higher payment, which limited a trade option. Due to our store hours coming to an end, I recommend she call Monday, February 15th, 2016, to set up an appointment to address her issues with our service department. I might also add that she canceled three other appointments during the week and gave us no opportunity to address her options until Friday, February 15th, 2016. To my dismay on Saturday, February 13th, 2016, I received the email regarding Margaret's complaint from your office.In addition, Margaret purchased a Pre-Owned vehicle with the understanding that the vehicle was to be taken delivery AS-IS AND SHOWN. That being said, we made every attempt to be fair, honest, and compassionate to her needs. As I mentioned in the opening of this response, Chicago Car Guys received an A+ with the RevDex.com. We wanted to reach out and go over and above our normal AS-IS AND SHOWN service, but our attempt at providing her exceptional service was ignored. In my four decades of managing automobile dealerships in Northern Illinois, I have never had to reach out to the RevDex.com for guidance. I first contacted Refined Auto Sales on March 7/2019, today is March 19/2019. There were questions I had about a Car they had for sale as I live in San Antonio TX and if the car was properly represented and questions answered honestly I would fly up , pay for the car and drive out.
It didn't work out this way.
After almost 2 weeks of questions, answers & promises I was at Redefined Auto Sales as promised on March 19/2019 @ 9:30 to see the car, check out the condition and pay for the Car.
Was told the car had 80% tires on it- history report said had "new Tires" and I asked to confirm and was assured the tires are in good condition, ( I have to drive the car back 1200 miles to San Antonio where I live so this is important). I asked about safety inspection, the photos showed warning lights pertaining to the Brakes! Also a few other questions from the photos, vehicle history and how the Car was represented in their Listing.
So I looked at the car in person and here is the "condition" I found the car in after multiple inquiries and was told that the car is in "great condition"
Here is what I observed:
The pass rear tire was completely bald.
The Battery was dead
The spare tire was flat.
The Body had a good sized dent that broke the paint on Driver front fender.
Brake pads were installed and the rotors were not machined/ resurfaced. Who know if they were above minimum spec as metallic pads wear the rotors and are replaced together.
The glove box was broken off and dash broken where some one attempted to steal the Navigation System.
This is a Car in "Great Condition?"
I spoke to Fabian Quintero and voiced my displeasure and I reminded him that I am flying to inspect and purchase the car was please inform me if problems, repairs, condition of the Car. I would not be pleased if there were problems we had already discussed.
Fabian Quintero that the General Manager would be in and I could speak to him.
Met with "Gregory" the General Manager and voice my concerns calmly and asked him what he intended to do for me as the car was misrepresented, car had safety problems, car was not ready to go after almost 2 weeks- essentially I was not told the truth about the Car.
Gregory asked that all the tires have to do is "hold air", was not going to address the other issues and asked if was still going to buy the Car.?
I asked him to out yourself in my shoes and how happy you would be?
He stated that this is my problem and not his. I then said " I am pretty much talking to the wall"... his reply was "pretty much".
I am sitting a O'Hare airport waiting to fly home now and wanted to make sure other "Customers" are aware of their Business Practices, lack of truth and pretty much flat out lied to me about condition of the Car"
I have been in the Auto Industry since 1979. I was the Parts and Service Director at a BMW Dealership in Marin County California for almost 15 years... I know what good Business practices are and a honest and reputable Auto Facility is.
Redefined Auto Sales is a name that really describes this Facility...
IT could not be any worse in my opinion.
