Red Mountain Air Conditioning Reviews (8)

I must say that the customer, who happens to be the sister of one of our main employees, has forgotten the terms of the installation of this air handler. Her brother came to us when she had purchased a home and had it remodeled asked us if we could look at her a/cWhen we told her that she was
in need of a new air handler she explained how she could not afford to replace itWe are not in the business of selling/installing used equipment but we decided to do what we could for her because of the relationship with her brotherWe explained how the unit was used but had a lot of life left in itShe agreed and had us install the unitIt then took her months to pay the bill so I do believe she was in need of this financial help we providedWe do have the invoice that states the condition of the air handler from the time of installation, there was never any deception here. At this point, years almost to the day later, the air handler is still working perfectly so I am really confused by this complaintI understand her compressor is no longer working and with the new freon upgrades that the air handler will need replacing if she is to convert it to R-410aShe does however have the option to replace the compressor and keep her existing system. She is also asking us to pay for the upgrade to convert the air handler to R-410a as well as refund her money for this air handler that she wants to keep and continue to useFor the record you can not convert a R-air handler to R-410a since the operating pressures exceed the limits on the older air handlers. I feel this complaint is unsubstantiated and this is just a way to try and bully us into refunding money for a job that was truly a favor to begin with

I truly know this is a large misunderstanding as the invoice we provided to her actually states the fact that it was a used unit.I would however be willing to meet in the middle and split the original cost of the installation of $1,and reimburse her $706.50I hope this would satisfy any misunderstandings. *** ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I must correct the individual from Red Mountain Air Conditioning on the following accounts.First, I do not have a brother.  I do however have a brother in-law employed by ** [redacted] an affiliate of Red Mountain Air Conditioning.  Second, the air handler Red Mountain installed in my home did not take place during the remodeling of my home which was purchased and remodeled in June 2008.  They did however inspect both my outdoor and indoor unit at this time and they advised me both were in good working condition at the time.  I chose to use Red Mountain Air Conditioning services because I trusted I could rely on them to be honest and fair and they offered me a discounted rate being that my brother in-law was employed by their affiliated company.  It was not until November 2010 that I needed their services to replace my indoor air handler.  I was informed by [redacted] that they had a new previously installed unit that had been installed in a new build, and he stated that it had either never even been turned on or turned on briefly, and that the owner did not like the unit and they pulled it and could install it in my home at a discounted rate.  I was never advised either upon installation or during recent conversations with [redacted] that it was a used unit with a lot of life left in it.  It was not until recently that I learned it was not a new unit but a used unit that was 4 years old upon their installation in November 2010.  In October 2014 my air conditioning unit stopped working.  I contacted Red Mountain Air Conditioning and a technician was sent to my home.  This technician stated that the indoor unit was older than my outside unit.  At this point I spoke to [redacted] who ensured me it was a new unit manufactured in 2009.  I confirmed with [redacted] that this was not true and contacted the company to talk to [redacted] with no success.  I instead was told to talk to [redacted] who I informed at this point all I wanted was for them to refund the amount I paid for the air handler and that they could pick it up once it was removed by the company I was having replace my outside unit.  I advised him if they did not agree to this that I would be having the inside air handler converted to use the new freon so it was compatible with the outside unit which uses the new freon.  I advised him I would have to ask for the difference it would cost me to alter the air handler and would also be requesting reimbursement costs that I paid to change out my original sink with the smaller sink to make room for the air handler they installed back in 2010.  This conversion has already taken place the operating pressures do not exceed the limits of the old air handler Red Mountain installed.  Once all of these reimbursements are received they are welcome to take their air handler back.My complaint is substantiated with facts and I have proof to substantiate these facts.  I have had in person conversations and several phone conversations with [redacted] where he clearly stated that the air handler they installed was "a new previously installed air handler, either never even turned on, or turned on briefly and that it was manufactured in 2009". These conversations clearly dispute Red Mountain Air Conditioning's response that I was informed I was sold a "used with a lot of life left in" it air handler.Third, the agreement for payment of the air handler was that it would be broken into two equal payments and charged to my credit card.  One charge was to take place in November 2010 and one in December 2010.  It was not until June 2011 via letter that I learned that Red Mountain failed to charge my credit card the second and final payment.  I contacted them and was advised that they were reviewing their records and noticed they had not charged me and when they tried to charge my credit card that I had originally given them it was denied.  I advised them that my credit card had been compromised and that my credit card company had issued me a new number.  The new credit card number was given to them and they charged the remaining balance.  Lastly, I am not trying to bully Red Mountain Air Conditioning into refunding me for a job that was done as a favor.  There was not favor ever done.  At no time did I ever tell [redacted] that I was unable to afford to purchase an air handler.  I never agreed to purchasing a used unit.  Upon receipt of the receipt for services I questioned [redacted] what it meant by a previously installed air handler because I wanted to confirm I was in deed purchasing a new unit and not a used unit.  He assured me that it was new and not used.  I am requesting a refund because Red Mountain Air lied to me and sold me a used air handler that they tried to pass off as new.  The amount of time and energy it is taking me to follow through with this process way exceeds the amount of money I will recover from this company.  However, it is the fact that this company can do this to one of their own employees affiliated with their company that makes me question what are they doing to the general public.  I am simply trying to ensure that next time Red Mountain Air Conditioning stop and think before they try to take advantage of their customers.  The economy is bad enough that we do not need dishonest companies taking our hard earned money to make a buck.  I spoke to the officer on duty at the [redacted] and I am unable to file a complaint with them since the services were performed more than 2 years ago.  They did however recommend that I file a complaint with the Revdex.com and suggested that I follow through with a civil suit.

Review: In November, 2010 [redacted] from Red Mountain Air Conditioning advised me he had a new air handler that was previously installed in a new build which had either never even been turned on or turned on briefly. He advised me the owner of the new build did not like the air handler and wanted a different one installed. [redacted] advised me he could sell me this air handler at a discounted rate of $1413.01 (a new air handler today costs 1711.43). In October 2014 my air conditioner stopped working. I contacted Red Mountain Air Conditioning and the technician inspecting my system advised me that my indoor air handler was older than my outside unit which was now no longer working. I spoke to [redacted] and asked him why the technician would say this and he responded that the technician just assumed this because usually indoor units are older than the outside units. He also said it had something to do with the style never changing so he just assumed it was older. Again [redacted] assured me that the air handler he sold me was new and that it was manufactured in 2009. I contacted the [redacted] Manufacturing Department and spoke to [redacted] who informed me air handler installed in my home was manufactured in October 2006 and shipped to [redacted] I spoke to [redacted] at [redacted]) and he advised me in January 2017 it was registered to [redacted]. On 11/10/14 I contacted Red Mountain Air and spoke to [redacted]. I requested to speak to the owner [redacted] but was advised that he was out of town but that she would try to get the message to him that I needed to speak to him. On 11/13/14 I called back as I did not hear back from the owner. [redacted] advised me that [redacted] and [redacted] (service manager) had spoken and that he could assist me. I spoke to [redacted] and requested my money be refunded and that they take the air handler back. [redacted] informed me that there was nothing wrong with the air handler they installed. He also said that I had already been using it for four years and had been given a good deal and that they would not refund me my money and did not want the air handler back.Desired Settlement: A full refund of $1431.01 for the used air handler installed that I was told was a new previously installed air handler. I am also requesting the difference of $400.00 the amount I had to pay to convert the air handler to use the new freon to be compatible with my new outside unit. In addition I am also requesting an additional 450.00 for out of pocket costs I spent to replace my old sink with a new sink that would fit with the air handler they installed in my laundry room. If Red Mountain would have refunded me the original amount I requested and taken back the used air handler they installed I would not have requested reimbursement for these other items. However, due to the inconvenience they are causing me to file complaints I am now making these additional requests for reimbursement.

Upon receipt of the receipt for services I questioned [redacted] what it meant by a previously installed air handler because I wanted to confirm I was in deed purchasing a new unit and not a used unit.
