To Whom It May Concern: I have recently received a letter regarding a complaint filed by a former customer of ours who feels she did not get the work she paid forWe are not Better Business members, so rather than delay the response time, I am emailing the only email address on the letter we
received. Ms *** is correct about the deposit she gave in May to secure her July 27th start dateWe require a financial commitment from all customers to secure their date and to guarantee our scheduleHer dates are a bit unclear, as is her complaint in generalThe job was schedule to start on Monday, July 27th as it did and was completed on July 30thOur final invoices are sent out the day before to assure proper payment upon completion as it states in the contract, so I can confirm that date quite confidently. I’m not sure about the exact arrival time, I know he spoke with her the night before or so to discuss access to the propertyI know she had tried to get him to come out for a second, unnecessary estimate to go over the job that was agreed on two weeks prior, which we do not ever doWe typically have coats that we apply on remaining jobs, so we don’t usually give an 8am-10am window of arrivalWe would be more than likely to show up between and She did not have a large job, it was a small kitchen where we needed to apply total coatsI know we kept in touch with her, and also we never told her she had to be there when we arrivedWe typically arrange for access either by the door being left open, or a key in an undisclosed locationThe customers choice to wait is up to them entirely. We do not move any furnitureIf we are refinishing a kitchen, we would move it out before coating to apply coat quick dry polyurethane, which dries in one hour and coat of regular urethane under the fridge as it typically does not move again, and there is no needTwo coats were applied, the dust that was kicked up is and minimal as we have our sanding and buffing machines hooked up to vacuum cleanersWe never told her that she would have to wait a year to move her furnitureIn fact, if you go to our website, that I reference on every invoice I send out, it says you can safely move furniture in the next day. Most of the conversations regarding the floors appearance seemed to focus more on the dust under her fridge then the actual finished visual floors in her kitchenWe did agree to stop over at a later time, however, it is our busy season and we did not have anyone available right away. This is not a valid complaint whatsoever, and we deny any wrong doing and do not feel we owe any money refunded to this customer as she is clearly trying to get something for nothing, and will not ever be satisfied with any outcomeShe had a kitchen floor sanded, we are not 100% dust free and we never told her we were, some dust is normalWhat she is complaining about is a very minimal amount of dust under a piece of furniture not usually moved againWe are a top rated company on Angie’s List and if we did work as she is stating we would not be in business for long. Wish this customer best of luck, if we can provide any further information regarding this outrageous claim, please let me know
On several occasions [redacted], the contractor, made several commitments, both verbally and contractually, only to later not fulfill any of them! The business, RC Hardwood Floor, owned by, [redacted]: * Replied to this complaint stating we spoke the night before the work was scheduled, to discuss access – WE DID NOT* The reply indicates I asked for another estimate for work – I DID NOT. The only visit to my home from this contractor was in Oct 2014. I asked if he needed to come to see the work to be done again, since so much time had passed. Mr. [redacted] indicated he, himself, and a worker would perform the work – HE DID NOT * Mr. [redacted] said he would contact me to arrange entry into my home – HE DID NOT* He indicated he generally arrives between the hours of 8-10am to start the work – HE DID NOT* He confirmed the refrigerator didn’t have to be removed for the work to be done. He confirmed he would pull it out and put 2 coats of poly under after sanding – MY REFRIGERATOR WAS NEVER MOVED, as can be seen by the photos I’ve included.* Mr. [redacted], conveniently for him, disconnected our phone call when I asked him if he could schedule a time to come and see the unfinished work. His tone and expression was making light of my call - IT WAS OBVIOUS HE INTENTIONALLY DISCONNECTED OUR PHONE CALL and he NEVER CALLED ME AGAIN. *Mr. [redacted] indicated the job would be completed for the amount charged. – IT WAS NOT* The workers confirmed the cracks in the floor would be filled – THE CRACKS WERE NOT FILLEDI trusted this business owner to fulfill his contractual and verbal obligations. I paid him the first half payment, in good faith and the 2nd final payment before the work was to be completed on the last day, again in good faith, trusting the work would be completed as indicated. After doing business with this owner, I would highly discourage any consumer seeking this type of service to hire this business and I suggest to look elsewhere, because it became very clear that this business owner, [redacted], RC Hardwood Floors, is unethical in his business practices and lacks a moral conscience. He obviously lacks integrity, as became evident with his inability to be truthful. He is not to be trusted and doesn’t deserve the trust of consumers. By far, the one thing I found to be most unacceptable of a business owner, was his lack of professionalism in the way he chose to deal with this issue when I called to point out what I had found on the job. My only request of Mr. [redacted] was to schedule time to see the work on the floor. Nothing else was asked beyond that request. This complaint is not about the dust and mess left on my cabinets and counters, but rather about this businesses inability to complete the job as contracted and lack of integrity. I am now in the position of having to reach out to a reputable floor finisher to have the unfinished mess left by RC Hardwood Floors. This will indeed incur additional cost to complete.Sincerely,[redacted]
