Review: They were to provide 11 additional cabinets to the existing cabinets I had. They were to be wooden cabinets as they specialize in wood work. The existing cabinets I had were approximately 1 year old purchased from Lowe's Home Centers made of pressed wood. They agreed to get a match made of wood. They were to supply soft handles, provide french type glass doors replacing the type of glass doors I had. They instead went to Lowe's or Home Depot and purchased pressed wood cabinets, did not do the french windows and did not install the soft handles. In addition only 7 additional cabinets were installed and the shelves were removed from one of my existing cabinets. They only admitted to not using wood when days after they realized that I was trying to get someone to inspect their work although the night I spoke with them and hinted that I was going to have the cabinets inspected they did not respond. After that they insisted that I came to them for pressed wood cabinets.I asked them why would I not have returned to Lowes why I could use my credit card? They also did not install the granite counter top that I had selected, they rearranged the design of the kitchen and insisted that I had requested that design. I have been trying since 11/**/13 to have them correct their errors and they keep giving excuses from death in the family to having to receive medical treatment. Since April/May 2013 the discussion and planning had begun but had lapsed due to contractor issue and my Mom being gravely ill. As soon as my Mom passed I contacted them to resume the discussion. I however did not expect it to be so stressful or else I would have allowed time to elapse after burying my Mom. This husband and wife team work so closely together and one is not seen without the other because they need each other for back up when making false statements. I gave them a deadline to have the job completed by 12/*/13 to no avail. On 12/*/13 I text them both but they are yet to respond. They are also altering the paper work.Desired Settlement: 7 pressed wood cabinets bought from either Lowes or Home Depot received in lieu of 11 wooden cabinets No soft handles were provided for the cabinetsThe french door class doors were not doneShelves missing from one of the cabinetsNails protruding from a couple of the cabinetsUnfinished cabinets with splinter like wood exposedCounter top that was not selected needs to be removedNeed $3k refund for the breach of contract,the additional funds incurred due to lack of kitchen plus the stress

On May **2013 [redacted] contractor call me his client need an estamate for cabinets and counter top,we went and took magerments and look at her cabinets she had on her wall,we told her it compress wood and three peice did not look good ,she come to my office I give her the quote for New Wood Cabinets,soft close slides ,hinges french light glass doors or add cabinets to her compress wood cabinets,she decided to add cabinets and match her cabinet, because she did not want to spend too much money,also she selected the granite for the counter top the one she like,I told her that her contractor will remove her existing cabinets and bring it to my shop I will clean them also 3 cabinets were damage I fixed it if not we will replace it.

November **,2013 I installed her cabinets and counter top she were not home her contractor were at the apartment working,she call me to come back at the house,I ask her you happy with your kitchen she say yes and give me a check for eight hundred dollars,and said she do not have money to pay me if full because she have to pay the contractor I told her no problem . On November **,2013 [redacted] call me and said that not the GRANITE she selected for her counter top,also all her cabinets should be wood,I told her I will never give her the wrong color for her counter top and if she getting ALL NEW CABINETS she will have WOOD,SOFT CLOSE SLIDES,HINGES,she pay me to add cabinets and match color to her existing cabinets,she came back to my office to see all the colors of granite I have she did not like what she saw,she said she is going to HOME DEPOT AND LOWES I told her she cannot bring me sample from those company because I cannot get it,I give her addresses and phone numbers to go at my suplys to chose.

I want all my customer to be happy I told her I will replace her old slides to soft close the one shelve missing when I received her cabinet one shelve were missing,I make one and I have it ,about the counter top I give her phone numbers and address of my stone yard she can go and selected the colors,I make apoiments for both company she did not show two days later she call me if my stone yard can send a picture to her phone,he did send her,she call me and said she cannot see the color clear,I told her she will have to go and see it I ask her why she did not go to see the granite she said that she is waiting for some one else to go with her , I did not hear from her,I want to finished her kitchen,but she making so much of excuses she have to work and she have school,the time she is getting home is 7pm ,9pm and 10pm I cannot go late to work it her house the time she is giving me it too late.she make so many changes she cannot remember I have all my papers and drawing each tim e I go to her apartment I can fax you,she have problems with the contractor.

I have her soft close slides,shelve I am waiting for her to selected granite so I can go one day to completed her kitchen, told her I want to finished her kitchen before the holiday,I will be very very happy to finished her kitchen.

I did had two death in my family,I were in a car accident I do receive medical treatment.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Their response is loaded with false statements. The 1st contractor that introduced me to them was for the husband to help with the layout of the cabinets. The contractor told me that they specialize in wooden cabinetry. This husband & wife team does not travel alone because one has to support the other in making false statements. The husband took measurements and we all discussed how my existing cabinets were to be rearranged. I told them that it was just less than a year ago that I bought my cabinets from Lowes so unless I could get someone to purchase them from me I would not opt for all new wooden cabinets. The husband said they would match up my cabinets with wooden cabinets & the wife even called 1 day to get one of the doors to match. She sounded like she was going to buy cabinets like mine & when I asked her what she meant she said she needed one of the doors to go to her wood guys to get a close match. I said "oh, because it does not make sense for you to go get the same stuff I have when I can return to Lowes and do that myself" She responded that she means she needs to match my door with the wood from the guy to make the wooden cabinets. They took more than 50% of the money because according to the husband they would do everything 1 time. The husband promised to change the glass I had & to give me the french window effect and soft close slides for $3000.00 + granite counter, sink and faucet for $2000.00. I have the paper that they wrote the cost of all new wood cabinets or adding wooden cabinets to my existing along with soft close slides. The husband promised 11 wooden extra cabinets. The size of the kitchen is approximately 11 by 7 ft based on my measurements. The contractor was charging over $6000.00 and they were charging $5000.00. I felt that was too much and went back to them to see if we could maybe use less cabinets. The husband said no because of the wood work etc. and they had to put in those numbers of cabinets for the layout to look good. The work did not start because my Mom was sick and the contractor was having license issue. Besides since my Mom was out of state and I had to travel frequently I decided to hold off until she stabilized. I lost her in September and right after instead of taking a break from the stress I called up the cabinet people to start the work. Several weeks prior I had asked if they knew of another contractor who had license and they recommended one. When I suggested they return to the home for discussion with the new contractor, they told me to have him go to their store. Somehow they changed the original plan but it only came to light after the contractor was almost finished with his job. The contractor was finished for a week or more and was waiting for them to install the counter and the cabinets etc. The wife left samples of granite for the counter. I called and texted her that it was difficult for me to make a decision but told her that I needed to match it with the cabinets as they now had my cabinets @ their shop. I was home when they removed them and not one was damaged. All the shelves were intact. I went to the store to see the match because she promised to return with one of the doors but did not. I selected the granite. She was trying to get me to choose one that had burgundy and I said no. To my surprise when I got home right away I knew the granite was not what I had chosen. The cabinets looked just like the pressed wood ones I had before, the glass doors were not replaced and there was a big gap from the top of the refrigerator to the cabinet above it. The refrigerator was not sitting in an enclosed space. The wife had told me to call her when I got home. The contractor had done his part and was scheduled to return to my home. The wife who in the past had failed to get to my home past 5:00 or 6:00 PM was return there after 8:00 PM before the contractor. He came while they were there. I told them that I did not chose that granite and that was the one she was trying to convince me to take. I told them I did not want it. I said it was too dark and I know I chose something lighter. The husband said Oh it was because they put a finish on it but by the next day it would get light. I knew that was not true and that I had chosen something much lighter. I asked them about the glass not being changed on the cabinet doors and also the lack of the soft slides for the cabinet drawers. They were insisting that it was for new cabinets but I said no. The husband then said ok & started taking measurements again to give me the slides and the french glass doors. When I asked how many additional cabinets were made they counted 8. They did not know that I had made a note that they were to provide 11. Then they started counting one of the cabinets as two. I asked them how a short while ago it was one & now it became 2? They could not answer. They provided 7 additional cabinets not 8. When I said to them it was amazing that they were able to get wooden cabinets to match so well and in the beginning they were fearful that they would not get a good match and that I can't wait for someone to point out the wooden ones from the pressed wood ones, they made no comment. The wife asked me for more money to pay the counter guy she said. I had no intentions of paying her that night because she was supposed to add the back splash and did not, shelves were missing from the original cabinets,nails were jutting out of a couple of them, splinters were exposed on one of them. I gave her $800.00 in good faith since they said they were going to do the glass and drawers and that I should return to the shop and look @ the sample granite I chose. They kept delaying my coming there, then finally when they had staged the shop I was invited back. The granite I chose was no where in sight. Wife told me that was all she had and she was going to contact her guy again. One day she contacted me telling me that a customer had taken one of the samples and she was unaware so I should return to the store to see if that was what I had previously chosen ( Prior to this I found out that what they gave me was additional pressed wood cabinets. Now they began insisting that was the agreement. Remember the night when I said I am waiting on someone to point out the wooden ones they said nothing. They only became verbal when I found out the truth. They took all that money to give me pressed wood? When I asked them if they worked with pressed wood they said no. I asked why would I come to their store to get pressed wood if they don't work with that when I could easily return to Lowes and pay with a store card if I were looking for pressed wood? They had no answer)They even made me select the glass I wanted for the cabinet.I left there with a sample to check out Lowes or Home Depot because I did not want to be tricked again and it did not look like the one I had chosen. She told me to call her back when I found something @ Lowes or Home Depot. When I did, she text'd me that she could not talk and would call me later. That was 11/**/13. She did not call me back I decided to call her 11/**/13 or texted her or both when up to that time she did not call me back. She responded some time after saying she would pick up the cabinet doors the Saturday. I called her from work in the morning. She told me she would call me back. She did not call back the Saturday or the Sunday. When she finally called said she said someone die and she went to the funeral the Sunday. The Saturday morning when I called her she gave no impression that she had a funeral to attend(incidentally I have my Mom's death certificate if you need that) The cabinet door has not been picked up. The kitchen remains the same with missing shelves & nails jutting out etc. I left her granite sample that I had taken to Home Depot 11/**/13 in the shop fence 12/*/13 as instructed by her. She was unable to explain why the counter could not be ready to finish the job by 12/*/13. It seems as if they get old or sub standard granite and install that in unsuspecting people's home. The one they installed in my kitchen looked very used. It's not as if there job is inexpensive. They charge these high fees and then do not deliver or deliver way below standard. I went to another granite shop and selected what I wanted. The store had sufficient so I wondered what their excuse would be this time. It turns out that the owner of the store is saying the piece is defected and not in my price range. Asked him if his son who helps to run the store did not know it was defected? [redacted] & [redacted] refused to honor their part of the deal. They took my money for wood & gave pressed wood, they added less cabinets than what they received payment for, they did not replace the glass doors, they did not provide soft slides for the drawers, one side of the refrigerator is not enclosed, a large gap is above the refrigerator, cabinets shelves missing, nails are exposed, splinters are exposed granite counter switched. I have been without a kitchen since end of October. I would like to be compensated and $3,000.00 returned to me. This has been extremely stressful considering what I went through with my Mom's illness and her not living in the same state. I will provide you with my Mom's death certificate, flight information of my visits to her, paper work from the husband & wife team. Just not sure if I should post all of that online. There is more details but I am tired of typing and may have to scan those information to you. Hoping for a speedy fair resolution: the return of my hard earned money. Thanks.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by R & K Artistic Cabinets LLC regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The first time that the business contacted me was Saturday 2/**/14, 2 days after I received your email. I was scheduled to go to a granite shop on 1/*/14 or 1/*/14 but due to the snow storm could not because the shop was closed. On 1/*/14 [redacted] the wife texted me to find out if I went on 1/*/14. I texted her back that the shop was closed and that it's Winter and had the job been completed 12/*/13 we would not have to be dealing with winter storms. She did not respond since that time. My brother then got involved and left messages for both husband and wife more than once but they did not respond. My brother and I contacted the Contractor to find out if he would finish the job and at what price. By now I had been without a functional kitchen since the end of October 2013 and my food expenses had skyrocketed. The Contractor was also waiting for the balance due to him which he could not get unless the stove and the microwave were installed and the sink connected. He came on either 1/**/14 or 1/**/14 and inspected. He told us that it was going to be too costly to change the countertop because the cabinets would be damaged & I would have to replace those as well. He felt that although the countertop was not what I had selected and the cabinets were not what I had been promised, to save money and time I should just go along with it so I could get the kitchen functional. He also felt that I should not have to lay out additional money since R & K had already been paid for the cabinets and that they should correct their errors. He said he would contact them and have them complete the job. He said the odds were against me.

He contacted them and told me they were returning that Wednesday 1/**/14 to complete the job. I still had not spoken to them. My brother dealt with them that day while I was at work and my stove and microwave were connected. They left with one of the cabinet doors to replace the glass and on 2/**/14 that's when the wife called @ 1:04 PM asking me if I was home because the contractor told her to meet me between 1:00 PM & @ 2:00 PM or she would meet me on Sunday 2/**/14 between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM. I was not home when she called and because I was unaware of the arrangement I agreed to Sunday. About 2 PM Sunday she called to reschedule although she had promised to call Sunday morning to confirm. She's now supposed to be there on Wednesday 2/**/14.

Since I did not get what I requested (they replaced the glass with a different glass but not the one I selected and they attached wood like strips to give it the french door effect, not what they had shown me in their shop) I am going to compare the price of my pressed wood cabinets with the pressed wood cabinets they gave me which is much less than the eleven they promised. I paid them for wood. I am also taking into consideration the granite top they gave me which I did not select. They also rearrange the outlay putting the fridge in a different spot making it difficult for me to access the oven as the fridge is across from it and there is not enough room. Also I am taking into consideration the funds spent for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. I now have to live with a kitchen I am dissatisfied with because it would have been more costly to have it corrected to what I had originally asked for. Waiting to see if they show up on 2/**/14 to complete the job. Not sure if they will after reading this because they still believe I owe them $1,200.00.
