Twice we had terrible communicationMost recently the workers wrote down the wrong time for when we can walk on the floors, which meant that we were unexpectedly blocked from the kitchen in the morning because someone either doesnt know or doesnt care about their customersTry getting kids ready for school in the morning when you cant get to the fridge or the coffee machineThere are plenty of floor specialists in town who pretty much all do the same thing for about the same price so go with someone who has the decency to keep you properly informed
I contracted with Pryor floor in January to refinish existing floors and to install new wood floors on the first floor of my homeI was told that the heating vents were included in the bid but if I desired dampers it would be an extra charge of $per ventI ordered vents with dampersAs my floor was being installed I checked the dining room and saw that the wood was not flush and that there were wide gaps and some of the wood was splinteringI pointed this out to the installers who checked the work and told me that he was able to simply pull the slats up since there were no nails He also said that he probably shouldn't have told me this He corrected the problem however there were two places -- one in the entry and one in the family room where the wood was splintering after the final finish was applied-.actually the top layer was lifting offI have had wood floors installed in homes and never had this issue They came out and removed the wood that was damaged and replaced put now the finish is very differentI was told that this was normalMy husband and I called several times and was told that we would be contacted, but we were notI and my husband called regarding the dampers that we purchased and I was told that they were on back order from a company in ChinaToday, Nov20, 2014, I called to inquire about the dampers and was told that they were no longer availableI then asked for my money back for the dampers and the man I spoke with told me that the $was not for the dampers but for the ventsI was very clearly told that the vents were included in the bid and the dampers were an up chargeThe man argued with me that this couldn't be trueI have the contract and know what I was toldThis isn't the only issue, there are areas where they damaged the wood by over sanding with the machine and now we have areas that the wood is cupped...they took too much off the floorHe never apologized for these issues but was demeaning and said he may be able to "retrofit" some dampers they had in Stock but if they didn't fit he would see if anything could be done When I asked why I had not been contacted regarding that the dampers that I paid for were not available I was told that they did contact some people This is not acceptableTo me they have defaulted on their contract and they don't really seem to careI have paid in full and now feel cheated with a subpar job
