On Monday, 7/20/20 I signed off on an estimate and paid $2,750 upfront to PropToro to do a complete bathroom renovation as well as kitchen tile replacement. The work began while my wife & I were out of state, on Friday, July 24th. Upon our return on Friday, July 31st we discovered a complete disaster of a job and additional damages to our home, from plumbing to trim work and even attic access issues. The work was not only performed subpar, but incomplete per our agreement (not to mention additional damages to the home caused by this business). We initially engaged PropToro to come and walk the issues with us. At that point, they committed to putting us in a hotel while they rip and replace everything and repair the damages that they caused. They also verbally committed to covering the difference in remaining balance for the job. Initially that was satisfactory, however as the week went on, the company became increasingly more and more difficult to work with and ended the week with verbal threats of physical harm and threats of legal retribution/liens on property of we did not pay the remaining balance from the owner, ***. We had to contact the police and are in process of filing a protective order against the owners, *** & ***. Not only do we have an incomplete job, on Sunday, 8/9/20 I had to pay a LICENSED plumber $630 to repair damages they caused to our lines as well as discovered the tile work in the bathroom was done improperly (Tile applied directly to sheetrock, not on concrete/hardi board as was in our written contract) and will result in needing to rip and replace, yet again. This project has been nothing short of a nightmare and major inconvenience to uproot my entire family for weeks at a time, and we still do not have a completed job and a list of damages caused by Proptoro that I now must pay someone else to fix. After being verbally accosted and my family threatened and left with an incomplete job & additional damages to my home, I am requesting a full refund
While PropToro corroborates the initial portion of the customer's
statement, of the hotel placement at our expense during a complete redo of
previous work performed, to
make good on less than satisfactory circumstances, the similarities in
recounting the events end at this point. While we stand behind making
reparations when warranted, we regret that we were not able to come to terms on
how resolutions should be executed. Due to this lack of agreement, PropToro
began to feel that the business relationship was no longer amenable or
beneficial for either party. The claims of verbal threats and physical harm are false and the Protective Order denials by the Courts demonstrate as such. Across the board, PropToro will always strive to correct and provide the best quality control necessary when any service is found to be unsatisfactory. We will not be refunding the amount paid and the balance is therefore still owed as we made every attempt to remedy
the circumstances, and would have still been working towards that end and final product had the customer
allowed us to do so.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: At the urging of counsel, I cannot comment on pending legal matters pertaining to this situation, however the response from the business is factually inaccurate, including the commitment to finishing the job "if allowed" as the job terminated after verbal (recorded) and written (text) statements from the owner that they were 'done'. There is also the breach of contract for not using the materials stated in our signed agreement (Hardie board), in addition to damages caused to my home by this company.
