This is hands down the worst contractor that we have ever dealt with This is the third house that we have built from the ground up, so we have our fair share of experience with a variety of different trades The building of our newest home in Boca Raton went relatively smoothly When it came time to choose a pool contractor, we did like most consumers do: researched the company and read as many reviews as we could findWe found a few negative posts on Skyler Pools In comparison to others (especially given the less than stellar reputation that contractors have around our area), they seemed relative minor (at least at the time) After meeting with the company and the owner Bruce on several occasions, we found our comfort and signwith Skyler Pools for a $50k pool and deck build DID WE EVER GET PLAYED!! The build took well over years to complete The entire experience was, put bluntly: absolutely miserable From empty promises on timing and work to be completed, to having to constantly chase after them (and the subtrades that Skyler Pools was responsible for), to permitting issues, to having to deal with the know-it-all condescending owner Bruce (and most of the rest of the staff which tow that same line), to the quality of the end result (or lack thereof), to the threats of litigation and ultimately being held for ransom on closing out permits, we regretted every step of our decision STAY AWAY!
My husband and I went through great lengths interviewing pool companies to resurface our pool and lay travertine over exisiting terrazzo- about companies total; ours was a special project b/c of the low level of our sliding glass doors [redacted] and [redacted] are great sales people and told me they are a family owned company (not) that does not sub out any of the work- in fact, they said the only project to be outsourced was the drain pipe under the newly laid travertine Unfortunatly, we chose them for the project when I should've went with Fountainblu Pools [redacted] said that he would be on site everyday- which was a lie, he only showed up to pick up the incremental payment checksI also asked if he can forsee any unexpected cost and he assured me no- which was great when the pool was drained and he said we needed to spend $2,extra to chip out the previous layers of plaster- knowing our home was built in the 1960s and in the pool resurfing business, he d**n well knew that could be an "unexpected expense." The whole project was mismanaged; differernt crews should up everyday sporting the work shirts of other pool companies like Cliffs poolsno one spoke engish and [redacted] was never thereI told them I wanted the metal railing removed- who wouldn't for a $20,remodel- I watched in horror as the workers were placing and cutting travertine around it [redacted] said "do you want to keep the drain hole/pipe exposed" and I said of course to keep the pool from over flowing Well, don't you know, they covered the pipe, b.c there is zero communication with this circus As per [redacted] 's suggesstion we matched the travertine tiles for the water line in the pool; little did we know (I mean he's the professional) you never do this bc travertine is too pourous and it flakes inside the pool and won't last LOL to make mattters worse, with all the decit and mismanagemnt they don't require 'their' workers to wear face masks- this is unfair to put illegal and immigrant workers health at risk The project was completed in May and thats when the fun begantheir pool guy [redacted] was supoosed to maintain the new pool surface and chemcal levels for the first month [redacted] did not only mis-manage the chemicals, he also ruined the pool resurface with vaccum marks and didn't scrub the tiles- so within a month we developed black mold and green and yellow algae all over our new pool surface- it had to be shocked and our old pool filter was covered with black mold- you'd think after $20K this company would've replaced the pool filter from the get go Mold, marks and an overflowing poolIt took weeks for them to send yet another subcontractor to install a drain lineand guess what, it doesn't work Weeks and weeks and we are constantly blown off by both [redacted] and [redacted] to properly fix the drain line and to no availLOL My biggest regret of all my home projects was choosing Skylar poolsas well as not looking online for all their bad revews This is the epiodome of South Florida st show bad business and I hope no one ever has to experience this poor workmanship and deciet like we have gone though Done in May and were still dealing with these clowns in Novmeber to get a simple job right LOL
I have reported, by phone and e-mail, numerous problems and unfulfilled contract issues and never received a reply ***, the owner came out once at my request about months ago He fixed one problem of and I have not heard from him since The only information I have received is from their subcontractor that has been taking care of the initial staof the pool Their office staff is unresponsive and combative over the phone when you ask about them fixing problems They say that weekly updates are given to customers We have NEVER received an update over the last months during the construction

[redacted] and [redacted] are great sales people and told me they are a family owned company (not) that does not sub out any of the work- in fact, they said the only project to be outsourced was the drain pipe under the newly laid travertine...
Unfortunatly, we chose them for the project when I should've went with Fountainblu Pools.

The project was completed in May and thats when the fun began... their pool guy [redacted] was supoosed to maintain the new pool surface and chemcal levels for the first month. Mold, marks and an overflowing pool. It took weeks for them to send yet another subcontractor to install a drain line... and guess what, it doesn't work.
Weeks and weeks and we are constantly blown off by both [redacted] and [redacted] to properly fix the drain line and to no avail. LOL
My biggest regret of all my home projects was choosing Skylar pools... as well as not looking online for all their bad revews.
This is the epiodome of South Florida st show bad business and I hope no one ever has to experience this poor workmanship and deciet like we have gone though.
Done in May and were still dealing with these clowns in Novmeber to get a simple job right LOL
I have reported, by phone and e-mail, numerous problems and unfulfilled contract issues and never received a reply. [redacted], the owner came out once at my request about 2 months ago. He fixed one problem of 5 and I have not heard from him since. The only information I have received is from their subcontractor that has been taking care of the initial start-up of the pool.
Their office staff is unresponsive and combative over the phone when you ask about them fixing problems. They say that weekly updates are given to customers. We have NEVER received an update over the last 11 months during the construction.

Terrible customer service and quality control. If you do not complain about something being done wrong, they wont even check on the job or stage of the job. I would not recommend them.
We are family from Canada, who decided to buy a house in Pompano Beach, Florida. House needed some renovations and a new pool and Jacuzzi. We did not know any company , to build our pool, so we called couple of companies that appeared online under "building a pool In Pompano beach". After few interviews , We met Richard from Skyler pool. He was very accurate and informed, well prepared, we felt lucky we have found the right company to build our pool, and in August 2014 we signed agreement with Skyler Pool Company.
The house is water front ,(backing up to canal) so we needed extra work with plans, piling , engineering etc. At first Skyler pool looked as very professional and trustful company, giving time frame for building the pool from 3 to 4 months.
After waiting for permits about 6 months, we got really impatient and try to found out what's going on?. Answers from Skyler pool office were always someone else fault but Skyler.
I want to point out, that facts which I put in this review is from my experience with this company. I will only put things which drove us insane - literally!!!!
First - we waited 1 month longer for permit, because Skyler pool did not add plan for trees to original plans((someone ([redacted] from Skyler pool) forgot or did not know is required))
Second - we wasted another 2 months because Skyler did not hire - did not tell us to hire Gas contractor to get permit for gas lines (our pool has gas heater- from beginning it was on our contract) we only found out about that after calling office, and inquiring why our pool is not approved for permits?)
Third - After 9 months when they started to excavate the hole for the pool, they told us - our seawall is leaking, my husband reacted to that by hiring people to secure the seawall, but if you know a bit about physics, YOU DON'T LEAVE HOLE NEXT TO CANAL FOR 2 MONTHS. In the aftermath we needed to protect our house. The water from the canal was washing out sand from our backyard thru hole getting closer to the house. My husband hired another company to put aluminum sheets around hole that SKYLER POOL dug, to prevent our backyard to be washed away. When we talked to owner -[redacted], he was rather helpless, than helpful. From his worker [redacted] , we found out that "business is booming and there is no enough workers in industry to do the job on time" We were speechless....we spend 2 weeks, day and night pumping water out from excavated hole and waiting for STEEL CREW to form our pool. Finally when they came (to lay steel) We knew.... if this project was kept in timely matter, we would not have to spend $6000.00 to secure our seawall or our house
Fourth- when we chose pavers to go around our pool, by the time they were ready to lay them ( year after) it discontinued [redacted] (office manager) asked us to choose new pavers, from company website. AFTER spending hours we finally decided .....and guess what.....she [redacted] did not gave us what we chose, we got some other color and pattern.....when I mention that to [redacted], he said " we will change it" , but who could wait another 8 weeks for new pavers!!!!!! At that point we were praying to finish that pool, get final inspection and never go back to that project again.
Before I will give final thoughts about this company.....just want you to know, that our project started in August 2014 and our last inspection passed on JANUARY 2016.
In my opinion , this company is unreliable and very unprofessional, because when you sign the contract -only YOU -OWNER - has to be fair and pay on time.....Skyler pool always had an excuse..... in contract they put clauses, Its never their fault, they are not responsible for "who they hire" to build your pool. We could break off contract after paying deposit, but after 9 months of waiting for permits, you don't really want to go back and start over??????? This experience was far the worst that we had ever in our lives. I hope You find this review helpful, please research before you make a decision, We urge others, who have enough courage and strength to write a review to warn people like us, who are looking for good company to build pools.
