Review: Plantation Mechanical & Plumbing has not been willing to fix their apparently flawed installation of a new GE gas range, leading to problems with how the oven works and concerns about its safety.

Plantation Mechanical carried out the installation of a new GE range model PGS950SEFSS in 11/2014 as part of a house renovation. The stove top has functioned in a normal way. The double ovens that are part of the range have not worked in a normal way. Initially, (cooking for Thanksgiving a few weeks after the range's installation, we noticed excessive soot on cookware used in the oven, but thought the problem related to start-up of the brand-new stove. Working with GE support during late 2015 and early 2016, we came to understand that the burners in the ovens were not working properly.

GE has indicated that the required fix is for the original installer to review their installation, confirm that the LP conversion kit for the oven is correctly installed and adjust the orifice for the ovens' gas burners until their flame is blue. I've called Plantation Mechanical more than 5 times beginning 2/1 to request a service call. [redacted] (one of two owners of the company) has promised to schedule a visit on three occasions but still has not scheduled the repair call. My last two calls in last few days have not been returned. Since we bought the installation service through [redacted], I asked [redacted] (Appliance lead in [redacted] store) to ask Plantation to schedule the installation fix. According to [redacted], [redacted] promised to call me to schedule the repair by 2/24/16, but that has not happened.Desired Settlement: I would like for Plantation Mechanical to carry out a service call. They should re-do the installation of the GE range so that the operation of the oven is within GE specifications for LP gas.

According to GE, this includes having the color of oven flame be blue, which will eliminate the excessive soot produced by the ovens. Also according to GE, since the stove top gas burners have a blue flame and function normally, other sources of the problem such as LP supply have been ruled out.

I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.Plantation Mechanical did a service call yesterday to resolve issues with their earlier installation of the GE range. They were successful in identifying and fixing the issue with the gas conversion kit installation and gas orifices. During the visit, they took full accountability for the original installation gaff, even though the original installation was a few months beyond the one year installation guarantee. I was pleased with how they resolved the issue. Clearly, the Revdex.com complaint was a very useful catalyst for them to recognize that the issue was a serious one that needed their attention.At this point, because they resolved the issue, what are my options for the complaint? Am I able to pull down the complaint? Or, edit the text with an update about the resolution? At this point, though I think they could be slightly more responsive to phone calls, they did the right thing in terms of getting to high quality work.Lastly, thanks for your complaint logging process.
