Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:they clearly stated they knew about the name change initially and as soon as they told me I needed to contact the cra to change my name I did immediately and it was changed within a few hoursI don't see how u can charge someone $to send a PDF email of their taxesThat must take a whole minutes to doAll I want is a proper copy of my taxes that I never received! I don't see how you can withhold my personal information from me. In regurds to filing this complaint late is because I gave the business every opportunity to mke this right without filing a complaint, I phoned in times and personally came in times and also wrote an email requesting my taxes*** *** *** ** *** *** ** *** ** *** *** ***

Attention *** *** *** *** *** ** *** *** *** *** *** *** Peters & McKone LLP response to complaint submitted by *** *** on May 25, ID: *** Our firm is disappointed to receive this communication as we exhausted our resources during our
busiest time of year trying to appease this client. It is also unusual that she chose to file a complaint days after she received her refund and Notice of Assessment which were assessed as filedIn our professional opinion the complainant received excellent, timely and of utmost importance an exceptional fee on her return. With respect to confidentiality we cannot be as specific as we would like to be but point out the following facts: 1) NAME CHANGE & TAX RETURN The client received a copy of her personal tax return including all schedules which was printed using the original name that our firm was provided with. This name matched the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) records at the time. She signed the CRA consent form with the original name which CRA processed successfullyOur firm was aware of the name change at the initial stage of the fileHowever, as we explained, we are required to submit the tax return under the name CRA has on file under the social insurance number. After the job was completed and printed she changed the name with CRA to *** prior to filing. Her actions forced us to have to change our system in order to file the returnShe was provided with an e-file confirmation showing that the name had been changedAfter the return was filed she was offered a reprint fee of $plus GST that she declinedThis fee was to cover the time it took to make the changes in our system and to also include an additional paper copyFor a PDF copy there is an additional $plus GST administration fee ($total) that we did not mention as she was not willing to pay anythingWe consider this a cost of her changing her name. Note for the readers: legally changing your name with Service Canada or a driver’s license does not change it with Canada Revenue Agency 2) QUOTE & FEES Our firm follows industry standards to not give quotesWe display signs on our reception desk and on our doors stating that we do not quote but if an estimate is desired to book a meeting with a partnerOur staff is trained to provide only a minimum base fee of $for a simple returnThe client was told additional charges would apply. Since she did not request an estimate we accept no responsibility for the figures she came up withThis file included multiple additional schedules which increased the time required to complete the return Our original time on the file was over $1,which does not include the administration time that followedThe original invoice was $plus GST after giving a corporate client relation discountFinally after several disputes we discounted to $plus GST in an attempt to appease our corporate client whom asked us to do the return in the first place. *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** * *** *** * *** ** * *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** * *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
*** Our final process is to verify with CRA that the return was assessed as filed. Our records indicate the return was assessed as filed and the refund deposited into her bank account on May 4, In addition she should have received her Notice of Assessment all in the name of ***. We trust our reply is sufficient and consider the matter closedJennifer McKone, CPA, CGA Partner Peters & McKone LLP Chartered Professional Accountants
