I have been doing business with Pete Nelson Automotive for over years and have found them to be trustworthy and equipped to handle all of my mechanical repairsThey do the job correctly the first time and are very fair with the priceI recommend them to all of my friends and family

Mrs*** brought her car in on or about August 24thHer complaint related to window operation.I will tell you that our policy is to test drive every car before and after a repair if it is safe to do soThe reason for this policy is (1) to insure the mechanical condition of the
car is okay before the work is done, if not the customer is advised and (2nd) to insure that the repairs were done properly afterwards. We do not determine if there is any road tar that may or may not be acquired after a test drive, after all, this is while driving Arizona highways.I apologize if Mrs*** thinks that we caused this, but the only thing we ever note in this regard is damage to a vehicle that we notice when a vehicle is brought in to us. We don't inspect for dirt or tar from the road.It would not be proper for me to address "he said she said" as I was not in the roomWhat I do know is that there was a police officer in the room at the time waiting for her car and after the fact she told me that *** said nothing that was inappropriate while talking with this customer.Lastly, we do not carry the chemicals required for safely removing road tar without damaging the finish as we are not a body or detail shop.We are happy to provide her a carwash at our facility if this would help.*** ***Owner

Mr***’s carburetor problem could have been caused by a single speck of dirt getting caught in a passage way.I know that Revdex.com has sources to determine if this could have been a possibility and I hope they will look into that. Our technician did nothing to this vehicle other than change the oil and filter along with checking fluid levels.Nothing we say or do short of giving him money is going to resolve this issue.Without admitting to any wrongdoing, we are willing to return $to Mr. *** providing he withdraws his complaint and removes all his negative reflections about our company from every media source that he posted to and that he agrees to make no future negative references regarding our company again.I will add in closing, that several of our customers came to our defense regarding this issue on social media including one customer that was present during Mr***'s accusations. Our customers know that we would like them to return and our record reflects that.*** ***Pete Nelson Automotive

My family moved to [redacted] in [redacted] and I needed an automotive shop that was a passionate about caring for my vehicles as I was. The neighbor behind me told me to go to Pete Nelson's Automotive. We have been there ever since. The other thing I would mention is my family doesn't trade cars often. [redacted] took care of a [redacted] that had 220,000 miles, a [redacted] had almost 300,000 miles, a [redacted] that had a little over 200,000 miles, and I still own a [redacted] that I drive every day. The point being is they do proper maintenance on customer's vehicles, fluids, brakes, shocks, batteries, alternators and so on. I never had to have any major engine or transmission work on any of my vehicles. They quote a price before they start the work, and maybe once in over 20 years additional work was needed. I would recommend Pete Nelson's to anyone.

The officer tried to tell the man that he had always gotten good service from us but the angry customer was adamant that we had altered his carburetor adjustments. I asked the man to leave several times during his rant and as he left the building he threatened to file complaint with Revdex.com (which I already had your letter) and that he was going to sue me. Even as he was in his vehicle, on the street, he continued to yell at me. We feel that he just wants something for nothing and he is determined to do just that.   [redacted]Pete Nelson Automotive

This is an honest car repair facility. They have even told customers when work is covered by warranty knowing the customer will then take it to the dealer for repair. Pete Nelson's could just be quiet, do the work and collect the revenue; but they care more about the customer and building relationships and loyal customers who will come back. Not only do I go back, I recommend Pete Nelson's to anyone when I hear them say they need work done on a car or truck. Do not believe anyone who tells you different...Pete Nelson's is an auto repair shop run on integrity.

This seems to conflict with what is said here."We did not even test drive this vehicle was in suchpoor shape."My vehicle drove perfectly for the past six months since I installed the carburetor myself. I am skilled enough with vehicles to have restored several 30-40 year old vehicles to selling condition. It passed vehicle emissions and inspection with flying colors. I drove the vehicle at least 20 miles that day before bringing it in without any issues. When I left their shop I couldn't get to the stop light without stalling. I have papers to prove I was at 91st ave. and Glendale before driving to their shop for an oil change. There is absolutely no possible way I could have driven that distance the way my truck was running when it left their shop. Running fine going in. Barely ran coming out. I'll repeat that one more time. It ran perfectly going in, and ran terribly afterward. The gentleman suggests that he has video of my truck when they pulled it in, this should put the issue to rest."If Revdex.com were to request permission to see the vehicle, thesituation might be better understood."I would certainly be fine with them seeing how it runs after I fixed what HE tampered with."When the customer returned to pick up the vehicle, he asked[redacted] “how did it run” which [redacted] thought was odd as we only had performedan oil change"I had asked him how it ran immediately after he claimed it died on him multiple times. Why is it odd to ask what the symptoms of some supposed problem was from a mechanic who specializes in diagnosing such things?"The customer showed up and demanded his money back for theoil change. [redacted] came to my office to ask me to speak with the customer. Iwent to the front desk and this guy started yelling at me claiming that wechanged the mixture screws on his carburetor causing it to run bad. I tried toassure him that we had done no such thing, but he wasn’t having any of it."This is absolutely ridiculous. I have a recording of this conversation because I suspected they'd claim something like this. I went in calmly, saw there were customers and waited patiently. When they were finished and left the shop I approached the counter and said I would like a refund, then I proceeded to tell him why. He interrupted me at every turn and  said he didn't want to hear it. I was trying to give him the opportunity to do the right thing as there is likely a technician working there who is doing this kind of thing to people and getting away with it. Then the supposed owner of the business came out and began to argue with me in front of another customer."I asked the man to leave several times."He asked me to leave once, then I immediately made my way to the door and off his property. Knowing that Arizona doesn't have laws that regulate auto mechanics, I was extremely agitated that they were doing this to people in Sun City of all places and getting away with it. I got into my truck, started it like it starts every single day without issue, drove to the stop light and shouted that my truck seems to be driving just fine now after only adjusting the mixture on the carburetor. He shouted something back but I couldn't hear him over my truck." andas he left the building he threatened to file complaint with Revdex.com (which Ialready had your letter) and that he was going to sue me."First of all, I would never threaten to sue someone. That's insane. I suggested they'd be receiving a letter, which they did written by me. And I also said I was going to contact my attorney, which I admit was a complete bluff. I was extremely upset that I was treated this way so I expressed free speech and made some sharp parting comments."We feel that he just wants something for nothing and he isdetermined to do just that."I paid for an oil change and wanted a refund for poor service and because they tampered with my vehicle. I made the mistake of handing the cash over before starting my vehicle, but knowing them they would have held my truck and sued me for non-payment. I should have paid with my credit card so I could dispute it through them. After addressing everything the "business" has said, I would like to add that this individual has decided to harass me at every turn on the internet. He made some unpleasant comments about me on the facebook review I posted and immediately removed the comments when I called his bluff on showing the video of my truck. Is this really the behavior of an A+ business, who's owner engages in such ugly behavior with his customers? Who treats them as though they are trying to trick them and get "freebies"? I don't think so.

Regards,

[redacted] If the person responding to my complaint had read the complaint they would have read that we removed the tar ourselves. Also, [redacted], at Pete Nelson Automotive,  stated after giving many excuses, that a car wash, soap and water, would take the tar off. This Nissan is in premo condition and we trusted Pete Nelson Automotive to respect that and to return the car in the same condition it was in when I left it. Any reputable repair shop would have removed the tar before I came to pick it up. We were well aware of the female police office in the shop. She was entering when I was examining the car. BUT she did not come outdoors with [redacted] when we showed him all the tar on the passenger front fender. Nor did she hear what he said, but the person with me did. And that was that my car had not left the shop. [redacted] only stated it had been "test driven" when I went back in after I checked the mileage on the car. It was one excuse after another. I WANT NOTHING from Pete Nelson Automotive and will never trust them, nor will many of our friends that live here or come for the winter, trust them with their cars. The response from Pete Nelson Automotive says all of what kind of people they are how they value their customers and their property. [redacted]

Regards,

Review: I brought my 1976 Ford F100 in for an oil change today. My truck was running fine all day, I had driven it about 20 miles running various errands before bringing it in. The gentleman at the counter was courteous.

When I returned to pick up my truck the gentleman at the counter claimed my truck has died on him. I thought that was odd because it was working just fine before I brought it in. I pay for the oil change and ask about other services I could get done and the price.

He gets my keys, and I thank him and leave. I get in my truck and turn the ignition and all of it turns over and wants to start but doesn't. This is unusual. I give it some gas and it keeps going but hesitates as though it's starved of gas. I can barely get it to the stop light before it dies. I had to put the truck in neutral, keep one foot on the brake and gas it to keep it running. I finally get home, just down the road at the trailer park and call the shop.

He is courteous but keeps insisting that he was told they just gave my truck an oil change, and touched nothing else. But for whatever reason, my truck is not running the same as when I had brought it in. When I asked who I could contact to hold the gentleman accountable, he had nothing to say. I decided to look further into it.

I would like my truck to run the way it had when I brought it in. An oil change would not make my truck run worse. That makes zero sense.Desired Settlement: I would like my truck to run the way it had when I initially brought the vehicle in, and I would like disciplinary action taken against the individuals responsible.

Response:

Mr. [redacted]’s carburetor problem could have been caused by a single speck of dirt getting caught in a passage way.I know that Revdex.com has sources to determine if this could have been a possibility and I hope they will look into that. Our technician did nothing to this vehicle other than change the oil and filter along with checking fluid levels.Nothing we say or do short of giving him money is going to resolve this issue.Without admitting to any wrongdoing, we are willing to return $31.90 to Mr. [redacted] providing he withdraws his complaint and removes all his negative reflections about our company from every media source that he posted to and that he agrees to make no future negative references regarding our company again.I will add in closing, that several of our customers came to our defense regarding this issue on social media including one customer that was present during Mr. [redacted]'s accusations. Our customers know that we would like them to return and our record reflects that.[redacted]Pete Nelson Automotive

Place of service: Pete Nelson Automotive

Repair on: 2006 Nissan Sentra Special Edition. Mileage 33666 going in. Out 33670. Repair of both rear window regulator motor assembly.

Cost: $662.39

Review: Sentra was detailed then driven from 107 Ave to Pete Nelson Automotive on 103 Ave. I, as always, in front of Pete Nelson Automotive employee, [redacted], walked around my Sentra and did a visual inspection. This car is in excellent condition, interior and exterior with low millage. When I picked it up, we noticed the passenger side, behind the front wheel, was smeared with road tar. I asked [redacted] how it got there. He stated it had to have been there when it was left and argued his point because it hadn’t left the repair shop. I asked him to clean the tar off. He stated he didn’t have anything in this repair shop to clean it with. I went back out to the car and checked the millage., then verified it with another person, Millage showed the car had been driven. I went back in the shop and questioned [redacted]. His story changed. He stated the car was test driven. Nothing was indicated on the work order of a test drive. He had stated previously the car hadn’t left the shop. Why and where was the car test driven for a window repair? I didn’t request any other services but the automatic rear windows to be repaired. Again, [redacted] refused to clean the tar off and now stated just running the car through the car wash would take the tar off. So now he was saying soap and water. I took the car home and sat on a stool for close to an hour and a half taking the tar off.

I have had Pete Nelson Automotive do repairs on several of my vehicles with no complaints. This employee of Pete Nelson Automotive, [redacted], was indifferent to my concerns about my car and he was caught up in his avoidance to return my car in the shape it was when I left it at Pete Nelson Automotive.Desired Settlement: It's a matter of a lack of professionalism. [redacted], Pete Nelson automotive employee first stated my car had not been moved but the millage showed it was. Where was the car taken and where did the tar come from? Why the excuse of a test drive for a window repair? And why didn't [redacted], for a repeat customer or any customer, help get the tar off? I

Response:

Mrs. [redacted] brought her car in on or about August 24th. Her complaint related to window operation.I will tell you that our policy is to test drive every car before and after a repair if it is safe to do so. The reason for this policy is (1) to insure the mechanical condition of the car is okay before the work is done, if not the customer is advised and (2nd) to insure that the repairs were done properly afterwards. We do not determine if there is any road tar that may or may not be acquired after a test drive, after all, this is normal while driving Arizona highways.I apologize if Mrs. [redacted] thinks that we caused this, but the only thing we ever note in this regard is damage to a vehicle that we notice when a vehicle is brought in to us. We don't inspect for dirt or tar from the road.It would not be proper for me to address "he said she said" as I was not in the room. What I do know is that there was a police officer in the room at the time waiting for her car and after the fact she told me that [redacted] said nothing that was inappropriate while talking with this customer.Lastly, we do not carry the chemicals required for safely removing road tar without damaging the finish as we are not a body or detail shop.We are happy to provide her a carwash at our facility if this would help.[redacted]Owner

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[redacted]

I have been doing business with Pete Nelson Automotive for over 15 years and have found them to be trustworthy and equipped to handle all of my mechanical repairs. They do the job correctly the first time and are very fair with the price. I recommend them to all of my friends and family.
