Hello,As I mentioned to the customer, this was caused by the sorting algorithm that displays the products on a particular page by the lowest priced itemSo it is a legitimate product and price on the page in questionThe alternative is listing it by the highest priced item displaying in search results, which is equally misleading and would drive away sales due to the price difference between xl pet crates compared to smallWe are talking hundreds of dollars in the case of higher end dog crates. How this happened was the customer searched a particular product, and the results were shown and displayed with a price of the lowest cost item on the pageIn this case: $for a urine guard (an accessory of the [redacted] cage). The page in question can be found at: https://www.petcratesdirect.com/products/midwest- [redacted] -rabbit-cageOur intention is not to trick customers, rather offer the convenience for a small number of in demand products, by adding accessories add-ons on the main product page instead of a separate accessory page which means an additional searchThese multi-product pages allow customers the ability to add all desired products in a one stop shop functionThese particular products with accessories are small in number and by multiple customer requestsThis is the first message of feedback we have received on this end, I think simply because upon investigation, the $price would be found by exploring the other drop down menu itemsWe understand that in this particular case, a search listing showed a lower price, but when clicked, that price was for an accessory of the product line and not the search image of a cageWe do not feel this is dishonest, but could be interpreted as misleading and we are looking into a work around in our websites' coding in hopes of finding a cost efficient solutionThis issue is present in most e-commerce stores as there is a sorting function that must be chosen (with pros and cons to each), but we do empathize with the customerThis empathy does not mean that we can offer cages to her at $19.99, when its MAP price is $We just cannot do it due to our agreement with [redacted] Pet ProductsThis is how it led to the Revdex.com complaint. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me and I am happy to provide a solutionThanks for your contact.Best Regards,JosephPet Crates Direct P.SI have copied in my correspondence with the customer below for your reference: Re: New customer message on January 12, at 10:AMPerfect, thank youOn Fri, Jan 12, at 1:PM, Joseph Isaac wrote:Hi Leigh-Anne, We are happy to respond to all inquiries from Revdex.comHave a nice dayBest Regards,JosephPet Crates Direct From: Leigh-Anne Curley [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: January 12, 10:AM To: Joseph Isaac Subject: Re: New customer message on January 12, at 10:AM Thank you for your replyI will let the Better Business know, along with my screen shots, of your practiceOn Fri, Jan 12, at 1:PM, Joseph Isaac wrote:Hi Leigh-Anne, This is not a common listing practiceTypically only when customers contact us asking if we offer accessories for certain productsThe [redacted] was one of these I appreciate where you are coming fromI will make a note and pass it on to our developers to see if we can prioritize the main product for these particular productsThanks for taking the timeBest Regards,JosephPet Crates Direct From: Leigh-Anne Curley [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: January 12, 10:AM To: Joseph Isaac Subject: Re: New customer message on January 12, at 10:AM Hi Joseph,Thank you for your reply. It doesn't seem misleading, it 100% is misleadingOn Fri, Jan 12, at 1:PM, Joseph Isaac wrote:Dear Leigh-Anne, Thank you for contacting usThe product pages sort price by the lowest offering on a particular pageWhen a product has accessories on the same page, it lists these firstIt is a balance between the convenience of having all product accessories on the same page, and what may seem a bit misleading without knowing the default sorting algorithm of the websites coding We apologize for any inconvenience, but unfortunately we cannot offer the [redacted] cage for $Best Regards,JosephPet Crates Direct From: Pet Crates Direct (Shopify) [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: January 12, 10:AM To: Joseph Isaac Subject: New customer message on January 12, at 10:AM You received a new message from your online store's contact form Name: Leigh-Anne Curley Email: [email protected] Phone: Body: [redacted] - When looking at your products, the [redacted] shows as 19.99, when I click on it, it shows I will buy at $if you can honor this priceThank you
While I do understand that sometimes an item is listed with multiple options, but in a search it will say starting at, not just list one priceIt will show a range of prices, the website, in their search, shows just one priceIt is extremely misleading and frustrating. The business offered no solution to the issue, just an excuse

results, which is equally misleading and would drive away sales due to the price difference between xl pet crates compared to small. We are talking hundreds of dollars in the case of higher end dog crates. How this happened was the customer searched a particular product, and the results were shown and displayed with a price of the lowest cost item on the page. In this case: $19.99 for a urine guard (an accessory of the [redacted] cage). The page in question can be found at: https://www.petcratesdirect.com/products/midwest-[redacted]-rabbit-cageOur intention is not to trick customers, rather offer the convenience for a small number of in demand products, by adding accessories add-ons on the main product page instead of a separate accessory page which means an additional search. These multi-product pages allow customers the ability to add all desired products in a one stop shop function. These particular products with accessories are small in number and by multiple customer requests. This is the first message of feedback we have received on this end, I think simply because upon investigation, the $19.99 price would be found by exploring the other drop down menu items. We understand that in this particular case, a search listing showed a lower price, but when clicked, that price was for an accessory of the product line and not the search image of a cage. We do not feel this is dishonest, but could be interpreted as misleading and we are looking into a work around in our websites' coding in hopes of finding a cost efficient solution. This issue is present in most e-commerce stores as there is a sorting function that must be chosen (with pros and cons to each), but we do empathize with the customer. This empathy does not mean that we can offer 2 cages to her at $19.99, when its MAP price is $39.99. We just cannot do it due to our agreement with [redacted] Pet Products. This is how it led to the Revdex.com complaint. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me and I am happy to provide a solution.
