Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/09/01) */
This customer came to our store saying his vehicle had a charging issueWe tested the charging system twice, and determined that the alternator had failedAfter receiving customer's written approval of the work to be performed on the work
order, we replaced the alternator and a corroded battery cableThe charging system tested good after the repairsThis is when customer complained that he felt the issue was the corroded battery cable and not the alternatorAt that time, we offered to put his original alternator back on his car, but he refused and left the storeCustomer is now trying to get a free alternatorWe have done all we can to satisfy this customer and consider the matter closed
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2016/09/11) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I specifically told *** and showed him the corroded battery cable*** looked at the battery cable, shined his flashlight on it, and touched itHe then said that the light green stuff coming out of the space between the battery cable and the battery terminal connector was not corrosionThe reason the charging system tested bad, leading to the erroneous conclusion that the alternator had failed was because of the corroded battery cable not allowing enough exciting current to the alternatorI did not sign or give permission on any work order*** did not replace the (now admittedly) bad battery cable
After replacing the alternator, and discovering that it did not solve the charging problem, only the battery cable connector was replaced, not the whole battery cable, as I said I wanted from the beginningYes, the charging system tested good after the battery cable connector was replacedI complained that I had been sold an alternator when I did not need oneI asked *** to admit that he was wrongHe refused, and said that he was not wrongI ask *** for some kind of adjustment, he said noThat's when *** appeared to get angry, and grabbed my alternator off the counter and offered to reinstall my alternator, stating that he was still going to charge meI paid the core exchange charge so I could keep my good alternatorI am not trying to get a free alternatorI will return the new alternator*** and Big-O Tires have done nothing to satisfy this customer, and have defrauded me of the amount of repair bill by telling me my alternator was badThis matter is not closed
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2016/10/11) */
re; Customer rebuttal
Dear Customer,
We continually strive to deliver satisfaction to our customers by offering them honest and fair service, and strive to see that they are satisfied in every wayTo that end, we offered to remove and refund the new alternator on the spot, and reinstall your failed alternatorHowever, as you refused to allow us to remove the part, and used it for several months, we are no longer able to return and refund the part
We regret that you do not feel satisfied with your decision to reject our initial offer of removing and re-installing your original failed alternator at the time of serviceWe did receive a fail test on the alternator twice, as we informed you, and you authorized the replacementThe fact that the battery cable was corroded did not affect the test, as the alternator is tested by itself
Again, we apologize for your dissatisfaction, however at this point we are unable to honor our original solutionWe desire for you to have many more safe, dependable miles in your Chevrolet Malibu
Regards-
