Mr*** called Said his position remains the same Customer purchased year old used unit He inspected and drove it several times before purchasing Had a Tire Wheel warranty that reimbursed consumer four repairs, RV's drive differently than a regular vehicle Takes practice Consumer brought unit back several times but there was nothing to repair Flat tire occurred four months after purchase of unit Was repaired in Michigan and driven back Company replaced front tires twice, Company previously offered two new tires but the offer was rejectedNothing further to offer consumer

This is my second response to Performance RV as it appears the original never made it to you.1) We are very disappointed Performance RV has COMPLETELY missed the point of our complaint.  The vehicle sold to us was delivered to us in UNSAFE condition.  With the FOUR bad tires we could have KILLED someone on the road or been killed/injured ourselves.  Because the tires on this vehicle were the same age or older than the coach itself, someone at Performance RV was aware of this. To say you can get 70 to 80k miles out of a set of rear dual tiers may be true, but, it is widely known in the RV world, REGARDLESS of miles or tread wear, RV tires,  MUST be replaced every 5 to 7 years. According to RV experts, 53,000 miles means nothing, as the AGE of all 4 tires should have been replaced after 5 to 7 years.  You can have tires on an RV, and only have 10,000 miles on them, but if left on for 10 years, they can blow out due internal rot.  Having no cracks does not mean a tire is safe.  The age stamp on the tier that blew was from 2004.  Our initial complaint never said all 4 were replaced.  Performance RV told us the fronts were replaced 2 years ago, and the inside duels were "BRAND" new. Brand new would have been 2014, NOT 2004 or 2005. We find it equally disturbing this vehicle was rented to the general public on a regular basis with these old/unsafe tires.  And that there are no maintenance records for this vehicle.  Are there no state regulations regarding this for RV rental units?  Seems a professional/expert would be able to produce written maintenance documentation for every vehicle rented. Nothing, in any communication mentioned ALCOA wheels, we do not know what Performance RV is referring to with this comment. "[redacted] had asked for a floor creeper to inspect the underneath of the RV each time they came out. He personally looked over the tires every trip. I told them we had replaced the front tires twice, and I believed we had replaced the inside or outside tires once. Further stating you usually get 70,000 to 80,000 miles out of the rear dual tires." This statement is completely false, [redacted] never asked to look under the vehicle, nor did he ever.  He would have no idea what he was looking at.  We trusted the Performance RV to be the expert they claimed to be.2) We are asking for reimbursement for two months payments as the vehicle sat  that long waiting for a repair quote, parts, and then to be repaired.  All the damages were caused by a blow out of one of the above 10 year old tires.  During the time it was waiting to be repaired, it could not be driven.  That one tire blowing caused a significant amount of damage including breaking the metal frame and a piece of side molding which flew off the vehicle and became a flying missile towards a vehicle behind us.3) Alignment, again there is a misunderstanding of what our concern is and Performance RVs response: What we were told was ALL Ford chassis have play in the steering. Again, after research, we have discovered that ALL of the Ford chassis must be aligned as Ford does not do it.  We have driven a Chevy Class C chassis that drove like a CAR.   We never drove a Ford until this one. No, the unit did NOT pull left or right, but was WAY out of alignment, as we have documents to show it.  We were told by people who do alignments for large chassis trucks that this unit should have been aligned on day one from the dealer. The vehicle drove the same from the first test drive until the day we had the alignment done, it was not caused by hitting a pothole.  Again, our concern is twofold, we were sold a vehicle which was not safe, and this same vehicle was rented to the general public regularly. Once again, we would like to re-state, the reason for this complaint is because we were given misinformation regarding tires and alignment which made this vehicle a potential death trap for us, or a killing machine to every person in a vehicle around us, had the tire blown and [redacted] had not been able to get it under control   Had we known about the tires we would not have purchased the vehicle.  There are also huge concerns on our part what other vehicles are being rented/sold to unsuspecting consumers like us.We stand with our original request for full reimbursement of the itemized expenses.  A copy of this email and all other documents will be forwarded to our attorney.

trip. I told them we had replaced the front tires twice, and I believed we had replaced the inside or outside tires once. Further stating you usually get 70,000 to 80,000 miles out of the rear dual tires. The tires were in good condition with no cracks. Again, while telling [redacted] and [redacted] this he was inspecting the tires himself. I completely went off of my memory when I told them about the rear inside or outside tires being replaced. I did not tell them all four had been replaced. I have owed a lot of RV in our Rental fleet since 1998, with no complaints from our customers. After they filed this complaint I spoke with my employees about this unit. The first time we replaced the front tires we moved those particular tires to the rear, and new were put on the front. So I stand corrected about replacing two of the four rear tires. My mistake. Again going off my memory. So I am willing to reimburse [redacted] and [redacted] for two tires on the back of the RV. I will not pay for four, because I did not tell them all four had been replace. As for changing out the tires on them after purchase is wrong, and imposable. A 2006 Jamboree came with Aluminum Alcoa wheels on it, with a special steel wheel with 8 holes in it for the inside dual wheel. I have owned no other unit with these wheels. And all the other units in our fleet at this time are new units. I store no tires at my facility to be able to change out the tires. Or have a reason to go thru that much effort and work to save a tire with 53,000 miles on it. This claim is beyond reason! As for telling them the unit had been aligned is a lie. I have never had to have a unit aligned. Because I buy all of our coaches new from the factory. [redacted] And [redacted] drove this unit before purchase. He expected it to drive like a car, like all first time RV buyers do. This unit handled fine, did not pull to the right or left and had no bad tire wear. The customer had owned this unit for 4 months then filed this complaint. They could have hit any kind of debris or damage the tire at any point after purchase. As for the alignment any major pothole hit, can knock a alignment out instantly or blow a tire. Which now seems to be the case. As for the date of the tires being order than the unit, If you investigate RV chassis, you will probably find the Chassis is a 2005 and the Conversion is a 2006. Which is normal in the RV World. And tires and wheels are stacked by the thousands at Ford, and there is a good chance that the chassis has a early build date in 2005 and has tires from 2004 installed on it. this is normal in cars today. you can have a 2015 car with 2014 dated tires. I am willing to reimburse the Beckwith's for two new tires, I will not reimburse them for a alignment because the unit did not need it at purchase and customer excepted the unit as is at purchase. As for monthly payments, NO. It doe's not take two months to put tires on a RV, it takes one afternoon. Complaining about a flat tire after owning the RV 4 months later is un heard of. I feel the customer had a misfortune and is looking for a free ride. I was mistaken about two of the rear tires so I feel I owe them for the two tires. Also they did purchase a Tire Shield Road Hazard Contract from us. And did claim the Driver side rear inside tire that blew, which is what it is for, the Tire Shield did pay for the repair. Which they have failed to claim in their complaint. The Tire Shield they purchased if for this type of issue. So why they are asking me to pay for something that Tire Shield is paying for seems odd to me. Again, customer is looking for a free ride to pay for they misfortune. Keeping the Tire Shield in mind I will reimburse them for two rear tires.
