This is my response concerning the complaint that was submitted on 10/29/by Miss [redacted] with the assigned ID of [redacted] .First of all, I have years of experience working in auto repairI have ASE certifications and have been working for myself now for years with no complaints or legal issues from any of my customersI have maintained complete satisfaction from all of my customers with my work [redacted] is the owner of a VW Jetta with very high mileage with many, many issues from bumper to bumper, worn out and she obviously never does any maintenance repairs to the car unless it gets to the point of having no choice but to.When [redacted] brought me her VW Jetta it was already running hot and she had been driving it in that condition while coolant was also spewing everywhere because of a plastic T fitting that had brokeI replaced the T fitting, replaced her coolant, and installed three new hose clampsWhile showing her the broken part I explained to her that because of the oil leaks her car has oil coating several hoses which have now become soft and may rupture at anytimeShe stated that she didn't have much money and would need to hold off on those repairs for laterI let the VW Jetta run for minutes and watched the temperature noticing that the thermostat had cycled and the car was holding temperature with no leaks and it was still full of coolantShe paid me for the repairs and left the lotAbout minutes later she called and stated that the car was running hot after driving for some distanceI advised her not to continue driving the car in a overheated state because it will damage the engine! She chose to drive it back to my shop anyways disregarding my professional advice! She pulled up after closing hours and I was kind enough to stay after hours so that I could look to see what the issue wasI then showed her that the hoses I warned her about being on the verge of rupturing, did just thatAfter this, I went completely out of my way to replace all three of the ruptured bypass hoses at no cost, having compassion for her financial stateAs we both were sitting in the shop letting her car run so that it could get to a operating temperature and to insure her that there were no other leaks, after about minutes of running time had past, [redacted] spotted the coolant leaking underneath the car and pointed it out to meI showed her that at that the water pump that is driven by the timing belt which is located on the opposite side of the engine where the repairs I had made were, began leakingThis new leak in no way possible was or even could have been my fault! She responded, ""Oh Lord, how much is that going to cost me?" I gave her a very fair price of $to replace her water pump and timing beltShe did not have the money for me to do these repairs so I allowed her to leave her car on my property for three weeks at no cost until she could afford to the repairsUpon the phone call requesting that I begin the repairs to her car because she finally had the money up to pay for the work, so I did soAt this point I have replaced the T fitting, coolant, installed hose clamps, hoses, and the water pumpWhile replacing the water pump, I noticed that the timing belt was very rotten and could have broke at any time which also would have ruined her engineWith the lack of maintenance on her car, almost everything was in bad conditionI completed the repairs and let the car run in my shop for an hour with no leaks, temperature, fans working, and coolant lever at the full levelI then drove the car for about six miles with no overheating issues or leaks, and at the time I called [redacted] to let her know that her car was ready for pickupShe came to pickup the car and left me with a payment in the form of a checkAfter she left my shop, she stopped the payment on the check, claiming that her car ran hotStopping payment on a check for services rendered is against the law, but apparently she is just that type of personFrom what I now know, from other people whom are very pleased customers of mine, that know her personally have apologized to me for her wrongful actionsSome even explained that those actions are to be expected with herWith that being said, If her car ran hot after she left, it had nothing to do with meShe has drove that car, I know twice while it was running hot with temperature gage in the red with alarm bell going off warning her to stop driving the over heated car, as well as being advised by me as the certified mechanic! The repairs I made at my shop are not faulty nor were there any leaks caused workShe even stated on the phone that the coolant levels were still full and no other leaks had occurred, the car was only running hotI performed all of the checks that I needed to do at my shop and on the six mile test drive to insure that my work was done! If her car has any other internal issues from her carelessness and little to no maintenance to her car then that is her fault, not mineI am taking her to court for my payment on all of the high quality and professional work that I completed on her carSincerely, [redacted] Owner of Jason's Auto Service
