The children have been patients in our practice for years, and this is an excellent family The crux of the problem lies with the family having a new insurance carrier and our staff submitting a claim to the parents’ carrier of record By the time the prior carrier denied the service, the request had been resubmitted and then paid by their new carrier; two months had elapsed The parents were understandably frustratedIt is unfortunate, but as healthcare professionals, we deal with the mendacity of insurance companies on a daily basis.Insurance carriers are adept at withholding or delaying payment and blaming the healthcare provider.And, patients are under the assumption that it is the dentists’ responsibility to submit their insurance forms.A dentist is only required to hand the patient a bill for services It is the patient’s responsibility to request remittance An office is providing an unreimbursed service when it files a patient’s insurance claim, relieving them of the burdened of filling out complex formsAlso, we appreciate the father’s annoyance at not having the chance to speak with one of the doctors It is our policy to confront all problem that may arise We have reached out to the parents to determine with whom they spoke We are confident resolution has been achieved with the late remittance from their new carrier

As they responded, the $for the X-ray was already paid by my insurance Therefore, I need refund of $for [redacted] and removal of $for [redacted] in the bill
