Review: On 09/15/2014 I went to Pawn Daddy located at [redacted] to have two pawn tickets renewed for an additional 90 days. The original amount of money I received was $800.00. At this time I paid the interest on the tickets totaling $193.00, which is an annual percentage rate of 217.18%. I was then told that they would rewrite the loan but that now I would have to pay a higher rate of interest. That interest rate is 334.71% or a new finance charge of $306.00 for the next 90 days or I could just forfeit my goods keep my $193.00 and go on my merry way. Obviously their purpose......to keep the jewelry and make it more difficult to redeem. I have spoken to the licensing division for [redacted] and according to them when a pawn ticket loan is renewed or rewritten as they call it the only thing that is supposed to change on the ticket is the new maturity date, but the amount financed and the interest charged are supposed to remain the same. I have pawned jewelry before and I have never ever had something like this happen. If that isn't scamming someone then I don't know what is. But now they have you over the proverbial barrel cause they have your goods. Had I known I would be dealing with such unethical people I would have gone to [redacted] where I usually do business but it was further to travel and I expected to be treated fairly at Pawn Daddy not ripped off.I think they should rewrite these pawn tickets using the figures in our original agreement. Instead of trying to intimidate someone into giving up their jewelry by hiking up the interest rate. I'm sure that I am not the first person they have done this to and I wanted to give fair warning to anyone having to use a pawn shop....not to use them. When folks are struggling right now in this economy whywould you want to take further advantage of them? I know that business is business and yada yada yada, but come on. Where is your conscience or moral ethics?? I guess they don't worry about their karma either. So yes, I feel that I have been totally scammed and taken advantage of. I'm a 60 year old senior citizen on disability and I really didn't need this added aggravation in my life. I am going to file a complaint with the [redacted] office so that they are made aware of these under handed business practices.Desired Settlement: I would like these pawn tickets to be rewritten with the original amounts of interest that I agreed to pay when I entered into this contract.
