[redacted] called us to take a look at his boiler system. The boiler was making a loud noise when running. There was a $59.00 service call fee, which was explained and he was told that if the boiler needed servicing/cleaning it would be an additional $125.00 for this service. Upon arriving,I spoke...

with [redacted] and told him that the boiler did not need cleaning(saving him money), and noticed several problems with system. Water level was low and water level meter needed to be reset. I told [redacted] that the labor rate was $95.00 an hour for repairs. More than likely, the repairs that I made( filling water level to correct sight glass placement) will make the noise go away. I told the customer that if the noise continued, we can quote him on replacement of a steam vent that was making the noise. Upon completion, I wrote an invoice for service call and 3/4 of an hour labor. This is when [redacted] felt that he should not have to pay anything more than the service call for some reason, that we all work for free. I again explained to the customer that the labor rate is $95.00/hour, much less than anyone else in the area, but at this point there was no making him happy. He called our office several times complaining about the labor rate that had been explained to him previously. Again, the problem he explained with the boiler is more than likely fixed, so he never called to say he wanted a price to change out the steam vent.Our company is very honest and up front, as is shown on all our reviews as well as our Revdex.com rating, but unfortunately we cannot work for free. We traveled 45 minutes to his home as well as spending 45 in the home for repairs and an explanation of how is system works, so he does not have to call a contractor for common problems for a total amount of $131.00. So, for him to say he was robbed is a ridiculous statement and I feel it would be better for both of us to continue along different paths. Thank You,Jerry A[redacted]Patriot Mechanical

all I have in writing is the receipt. I protested the labor charge as not being discussed nor agreed upon to by their office lady nor in advance by the technician. I was told any charges other than the actual service charge would be discussed in advance before anything was done. the only reason I paid the bill was I felt extremely intimidated. I followed up with the office lady the next day and she said she would talk to the owner about the problem. 5 weeks later I am still waiting to hear from her.
