Highly unprofessional company. Was recommended this company ( metro mechanical services of Baltimore) by my home warranty so I trusted their guidance. The first time the company came out (Eric) very professional and thought the problem had been fixed with my HVAC. I was highly mistaken. A little less than a month goes by and the same issue occurs again but worse which caused puddles in basement. Called Eric and was informed he couldn't come to fix the issue until 4 days later. Remember I have to go four days without air as its 100 degrees outside and just as hot indoors. The day of appointment Eric is not at my house time of appointment nor does he call to communicate he's running late. I have my home warranty company call and of course he returns the call 15 minutes past appointment time. He states he's running 20 minutes behind because of a flat tire although it sounded like he just woke up. If you had a flat it's professional to call and communicate. He then proceeds to tell me you either want me to come or not. No I don't need the business if this is how you treat paying customers. I would not recommend this guy to anyone please go with another company.

Review: To Whom it May Concern:
On 06-14-14, my friend and I went into Parker Motor Company to look around for a vehicle to buy. My intent with this purchase was to do business with an entity that had a reputation as honest and reputable as opposed to buying from a private seller because I did not have my own mechanic to investigate if a vehicle was sound and in good repair or not. I was aware that before a new car franchise turned around and sold a used vehicle they did a safety inspection, the necessary maintenance specified by mileage, and pre-delivery inspection with ASE certified technicians. In short, I bought the vehicle from a new car franchise because I trusted them to sell me a good running vehicle that had been properly inspected and worked on.
Our salesman, [redacted], listened to our requests. My friend STRESSED to him that we wanted a very reliable car for around $3000 and did he have anything that met that description? He pulled up in a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Vin# [redacted]. The vehicle was in very good condition on the outside and inside for late of a model car and that price. My friend and I both drove the vehicle around Parker, AZ for about half an hour total. The air conditioner worked great. The engine seemed powerful and running smoothly. We returned and decided to buy the vehicle. We were led into the business office where the woman took our payments and literally all we signed were around 3 or 4 documents.
As I got in the vehicle to leave, I realized the air conditioner and radio were suddenly not operational. I thought that was weird because what could have happened from the time we turned off the car from our test drive until now to make this happen? My friend got in the car and drove it around to the service area where [redacted] was coincidentally standing. He explained the problem and he had a mechanic come over to look at it. While the tech was fiddling around my friend said to [redacted]... what is your warranty? And, if anything goes wrong will the car be covered? You will take care of her if anything goes wrong? My friend stated that he is not in town most of the time and away on business and if I needed help he wanted to feel comfortable that I would be safe. [redacted] replied in an airy off the point way that yes he would take good care of me if anything went wrong and that they ALWAYS STAND BEHIND THE VEHICLES THEY SELL! However, when I think back to this instance, I remember he really didn't answer our question about how long the warranty lasted.
On 7-11-14 at 10pm while driving on hwy 95 I was accelerating up a hill going 75mph. I heard a loud snap and the vehicle died and the yellow engine light came on and started flashing. I knew this to be a really bad thing. If the engine light flashes do not drive it. I was able to get it parked on the side of the highway. I had to call a friend to come get me in the middle of the dark desert late at night.
The next day I called tow companies to get the lowest price. My insurance would only reimburse $40 and the lowest price I could get was $160 from where the car was on 95 back to Parker Motor Company. Then I had to wait all weekend for them the even look at it because it was on a Friday when this happened. On Monday, 07-14-14 [redacted], a service adviser, called and told me the timing belt broke and it would cost $1600 to replace but that they were willing to work with me. He said the dealership would pay half the bill so I would only owe $800! I was beside myself and shocked that they were even charging me a penny because I just bought the car. On top of that... it does not cost $1600 to replace a timing belt. I replied, did the timing belt cause any other damage? [redacted] said 'NO"! (this is important). I asked to speak to [redacted]. He connected me and I started to state my complaint but he would not let me speak. Instead, he apologized and said this is the way it is. He wished he could help me and in fact what a great deal they are giving me by paying half the bill. I let him speak and then started to state my complaint again to where I was cut off again. I had to raise my voice so I could state my complaint for him to hear me. I asked what the warranty was and why wasn't it covered? I just bought the car! Did he remember what he said? They stand behind their cars? He said, Noooooooo, they stand behind their WORK. The used car warranty at their dealership by law was only 15 days from the date the person took possession. Now the story was different. I stated the timing belt should have been changed at the 90,000 mark before selling the vehicle off the lot. The regular maintenance as stated in the owner's manual of the car. He said no that was not their problem and I owe $800 if I want the car fixed. I told him it doesn't cost that much to change a timing belt and what else are they charging me for? He transferred me to [redacted] the service manager.
[redacted] said that no the timing belt did not damage anything. So I asked what they are charging me for and to go over the itemization please. This is what he stated:
-9.4 flat rate hours @ $95.50 labor rate
-Water pump-$54.60
-2 belts not specified-$31.46
-Idler Pulley-$26.04
-Timing Belt-$28.82
-Motor Mounts-$25.78
-Anti-Freeze-$40.98
-Belt Tensioner-$60.93
-Shift Cable Bushing-$21.11
TOTAL REPAR=$1418.89
Why were they charging me to replace a water pump, idler pulley, motor mounts, and why are they charging me 9.4 hours to do a 6 or 7 hour job at most? He stated that "oh, well, yeah these things have to be replaced because of the timing belt" So the timing belt did do all that damage? He stated that YES (this is important) it did. Once again, the story changes. I needed to research what they were telling me because the story had changed so many times.
The next day I went into the dealership in person. I went straight to [redacted] the service manager for him to explain all the things that were not making sense and not related to replacing a timing belt. I asked why they are replacing the water pump. He said the water pump blew up. Why are they charging for anti-freeze when they can re-use my anti-freeze and re-charge and evac with that? He said it all leaked out. I asked why the motor mounts. He said the timing belt damaged it. Why the idler pulley. He said the timing belt damaged it. Why all the other miscellaneous belts. He said they might as well replace them if they are in the engine anyway. I asked why so much time to do all this work and can I see the the book they are getting this labor from? I know by law I am able to review this. He stated it's not in a book but on a computer and brushed off the question and never let me see the references of where he got the flat rate to charge me for. Every time I tried to get somewhere with either the salesman or the service manager, I was just hitting closed doors. Basically, that was all they were going to do. Either I take it or don't.
I feel cheated. I feel taken advantage of. I said that I need transportation to make money. The only way for me to pay them is with a payment plan and if that's possible then fix the car. I went into the business office and signed a document stating I would pay $100 a month with the business manager, [redacted].
On 7-26-14 I went into the dealership and paid $100 to get my vehicle after the repair. On 7-31-14 I got into my vehicle and it wouldn't start 5 days after getting it back from Parker Motor Company Service Department. Once again, I called [redacted]. I explained the vehicle wouldn't start and they needed to come get it. He stated that no they would not go get it. I would have to have it towed to them once again. He didn't even offer to help pay for the tow back to their dealership knowing it's their workmanship. So much for [redacted]'s verbal agreement that they stand behind their work also. They have no intention of helping me. It infuriates me that they have gotten away with selling me a lemon and then turning around and shrugging their shoulders.
I got a ride into Parker the next day. I went into the dealership and asked for [redacted]. He was not there but there was another salesman who invited me into his office. I explained that I wanted all the service history of my vehicle and most importantly the invoices from Parker Motor Company themselves when they did the SAFETY INSPECTION, PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION, REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. Any person in this line of business knows exactly what I'm talking about. Finally, he brought in the owner [redacted].
[redacted] sat down and I explained my situation. He seemed UN-interested and that sometimes they do inspections and sometimes they don't . I stated that all I wanted right now in time was the copies of the invoices where they inspected MY vehicle. He went on about how they don't take vehicle engines completely apart and then back together again just to sell them. As is insinuating that is what I expected from the dealership. I responded that, that is not my intention here. I am just looking for the appropriate documentation stating they conducted some type of inspection or safety at the very least. I also replied I am well aware they don't take vehicle engines apart and back together again. I am not a 'stupid' person. But, I would have expected some kind of inspection from a reputable dealership. He chuckled at me and then stated he has been in business for 90 years. I asked him if he thought this situation was funny? He stated that "not that I think it's funny, but you bought the car as it is". Still by this point he has not given or attempted to just give me the invoices. I stated that we have a serious problem now. Please provide the invoices. He left and came back 5 minutes later and said verbatim "Sorry [redacted], we didn't do an inspection on your car". I responded that, that was all I needed to know and I left.
I decided to go on a local information bulletin board through [redacted] and ask if anyone knew of any laws pertaining to safety regulations with new car franchises selling used vehicles without any inspections. I even posted a picture of the air filter with is BLACK. An air filer would take years to become this black. Interestingly, a woman replied on top of the MANY PEOPLE who think this situation is out of line by a reputable car dealership. She stated she knows the family who traded the car in. They did so because the car was in total disrepair. The motor mounts needed to be replaced on top of tons of other work and that the dealership did not give them much for the car. She stated they thought the car would be auctioned off and not sold to any potential buyers here. The woman stated the dealer is lying to me about the timing belt breaking the motor mounts and all the other parts and repairs. She stated she was going to contact the family and have them write a statement of the situation and have it notarized to give to me. I then took screen shots of the conversation between myself and many people on the topic. I have not received the notarized copy as of today but it is in the process of being done.
As of today 8-20-14 I have a vehicle in my driveway that won't start. I owe Parker Motor Company $700.00 for nothing. They won't tow my car back to them knowing it is their workmanship and moral dysfunction of not inspecting the vehicle before selling it to me. I have been without transportation half of the time I have had the vehicle. I am paying car insurance on a car that doesn't even run.
Please tell me why a new car dealer franchise is able to sell me a lemon car to an unsuspecting person who doesn't know anything about cars or engines able to get away with this? After saving for 2 years for a car that I was so excited to get. Now I'm completely broke and still without transportation and now in more debt because I owe them $700.00.Desired Settlement: I want Parker Motor Company to tow my vehicle back to their service department and perform the necessary maintenance, safety, and inspections that an ASE certified technician would have performed before selling me the vehicle. They sold me an unfit unreliable and unsafe vehicle. So I want the vehicle to get up and running in a reliable way. I have tried to work out the situation by going to the appropriate people at Parker Motor Company without any resolution or any intentions to make this situation correct. As a reputable dealer they should be interested in resolving this issue.

To Whom It May Concern:
Parker Motor Company has been in business for 98 years. We value all our customers, and we would not take advantage of anyone intentionally.
[redacted] purchased a 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser, VIN #[redacted], with 113385 miles on June 4, 2014 for $3300.00. During her purchase process she test drove the vehicle and found that everything was operating properly at the time of purchase. The vehicle was “sold as is” which means whatever happens after the purchase is the responsibility of the buyer however by state regulations the vehicle is warranty for 15 days or 500 whichever comes first. On July 14, the tow company dropped off the 2003 PT Cruiser, 114888 miles, stating check engine light is on and engine is making knocking noise. The technician verified the concern and found the water pump had frozen up loosing all coolant and caused the timing belt to break. While the technician was inspecting the rest of the system he suggested that the idler pulley, power steering pump drive belt, ac compressor drive belt be replaced at the same time while he had the major components it would save additional labor down the road. He noticed the motor mount was damaged do to wear. Ms [redacted] had the vehicle 40 days and driven it 1503 miles. Parker Motor has no obligation to Ms [redacted] for these repairs. [redacted] was presented an estimate for $1590.52, based on the [redacted] time standards. After talking to [redacted], the salesman, he agreed Parker Motor will pay half of the bill resulting in Ms [redacted] paying $795.26. [redacted] signed and approved the estimate on July 19 to repair the vehicle and a payment plan would be arranged for her to make a monthly payment on the unpaid balance. On July 26 [redacted] picked up her PT Cruiser. The total was $1418.74, her portion was $727.99. She paid $100 and signed a document that she would pay $100 monthly until balance was paid off. The current outstanding balance is $627.99.
When we take a vehicle in on trade the sales consultant and sales manger will take the vehicle for a test drive to determine the condition the vehicle is in. In order to save an additional cost on the sale of the vehicle we may not have a used vehicle inspection by the service technician if the sales test drive does not warrant, which is the case with the 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser that Miss [redacted] purchased. The vehicles major components were all working at the time. All the safety features such as the blinkers, horn headlights, doors, and seat belts were all operational at the time of the sale. We are not required to perform certified used vehicle inspection. We are not obligated to do the required maintenance on a used vehicle prior to a sale. We have no way of obtaining vehicle maintenance records unless the previous owner gives to us or if the maintenance was done at our dealership. Older vehicles with excessive amount of miles are “Sold As Is” and the warranty would be 15 days or 500 miles.
At this time I would be willing to credit Ms [redacted] outstanding balance of $627.99. She now owes Parker Motor Company $0.00. If Ms [redacted] would have the vehicle towed to Parker Motor we would inspect it for free. If the no start problem was do to poor workmanship on by Parker Motor Company we would reimburse her for the tow and repair it for free. If it is some other component she will get an estimate based on [redacted] time standards. She can determine what repairs or maintenance she wants to be done.
I feel we have done our best to help Ms [redacted]. We can not see into the future of what may break on a vehicle.
Sincerely,
Operations Manager
