I got two sacks of corn on the cob from this farm it was supposed to be picked on the 8-14-2020 I got the corn on on 8-15-2020 at 4:30pm. I took the corn put it in my garage/basement that stays around 50 degrees all year round. I got the corn out on 8-18-2020 to can it..The corn had mold was black and was dried out. I messaged the farm through Facebook message.I sent pictures the person that I message through Facebook gave me the owners number is name is David Painter. I called him the next day cause the first number they gave me was out of order I called and told David the story he basically told me I was lying and told my husband to come down and settle it I guess he wanted to fight over $30 and two sacks of corn. David was really ugly to us told us corn cooks after it’s been picked and I should have fixed it the same day day we’ll I couldn’t cause I didn’t get it till the next day... when we picked up the corn I told my husband it didn’t look right he got a cob off the top and it looked pretty good.. Out of 8 dozen corn I got 13 ears of corn so called good and when I fixed them it was so tough you couldn’t eat it. That is not the way to run a business you don’t tell people they are lying cuss at them and tell them to come fight not no way to run a business.I have pictures of to prove that the corn was bad.
Mrs. contacted us through Facebook on August 18th, with a complaint over the corn not being fresh. We provide a drive through produce pickup for retail customers every Friday between 6-7 PM. The produce for this pickup was picked fresh between 4:30 -5:30 PM that Friday. Mrs. stated she had someone else pick up her corn Friday evening but didn't take possession of the corn until Saturday evening. A complaint was not made until four days later, when she started to work her corn. As explained to Mrs., corn is a perishable product that must be refrigerated if not used/worked within a day. A cool basement is not a substitute for refrigeration. Mrs. became abusive with her language in the Facebook message and was then given the owners Direct number. When she called him to discuss the matter she expressed her unhappiness and attacked him verbally in the conversation. Mr. Painter told her if she was unhappy they could drive down to the farm in Virginia and discuss the matter further and he would show her exactly where the corn was pulled. She hung up the phone, then Mrs. posted on our Facebook page a negative review. We are a 5th generation family farm that grows and sells produce. We make every effort to resolve any complaint. As explained to Mrs. a refund was not offered because once the produce leaves our farm we cannot guarantee how the produce is handled or what happens to the produce, combined with the storage of the corn and length of time before a complaint was made.
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
