P & J Tire and Auto Reviews (1)

Review: Vehicle was towed to their lot in Jan. due to being totaled in accident. We went and cleaned majority of car out and spoke with [redacted] about charges. We were told it was approx. $256 for a 1 mile tow. Asked if we signed the title over to them, would that cover the tow. She responded that it would. We had just put brand new [redacted] GT tires on in Nov. and asked if we could have the tires back. She said that was "not a problem",and to call back to see when we could pick them up. Numerous phone calls were made over 2 months, and we were told that they weren't off yet, they had to wait to get a set of junk tires to put on so they could tow it to salvage, and that she would call us when it was ready. (We STILL were in possession of the title, so we told her that was fine). On 3/18/13, we went to check on the vehicle. It was no longer on the lot. [redacted] said it "must have been taken to salvage when she was gone". I said we did not give permission and still had the title. She said, "oh well, I don't know what to tell you". After numerous phone calls, found out the car was sent to [redacted] for salvage. We STILL have the title, and are waiting to hear back from [redacted] before we report the vehicle stolen. No calls were made by P & J asking for the title,or that we could come get the tires, and we were just waiting for the tires before we turned over the title. That was part of the agreement.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

We would like to recover the cost of the tires and rims. We purchased the tires at [redacted] for a total cost of $354.00. We would like to recover a fair price for the tires and rims of $300.00.

Customer was called and can come pick up tires at there convenience. Vehicle was not brought to [redacted] for salvage.

Customer did not paid anything towards towing or storage for the duration it was on our premisses. Owner had cleaned vehicle out the day it came in and released vehicle to us for salvage. The customer called after that for request of the tires. The total for the towing from accident on 1/16/2013 was $234.50 the day it was released by customer. No responsibility was taken by vehicle owner for services provided.

Business Response /* (-10, 8, 2013/03/22) */

Customer has received the tires and has given us the title to said vehicle.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the partial settlement response from the business.)

I was NOT happy with their offer. They "found" the tires but could not explain where the rims were. So, I have tires but no rims. I could have sold the tires and rims for $300. Now, I will be lucky if I can get $150. I did not appreciate the lies: "I don't know where your car is...We took the car to [redacted]. And we couldn't take it without the tires....Vehicle was not brought to [redacted]....Our tire guy took off the tires and set them aside" Funny how once I called around, and determined it WAS indeed at [redacted].....the tires magically appeared at P & J. I do not trust them I just went and got the tires because I am tired of dealing with a business that is dishonest and want to put it behind me. .

We stopped going to P & J a few years ago when we had a full brake job done. A month later, we took the vehicle back, and were told it needed approx. $800 in brake work. When questioned, we got the run around about how they "didn't work on that part". Well, that $800 job cost us under $10 for a part we purchased at [redacted] and installed with a friend's help. They also said the tow of the totaled vehicle (one complained about) was $256....they towed it approx. 1 mile, were not hired by us, but believe they were called by either the local FD, or state trooper. NOT a reputable dealer...we have heard more stories on how they cheat customers since our run in. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone, and DO recommend people go elsewhere for their auto repair.
