Network Recovery Services, Inc. is billing me fraudulently. Their collection demand states that I have a balance of $1143.16 owed to New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
My insurer, Emblem Heath, contacted New York Presbyterian; Columbia University Medical Center and Cornell Weill yesterday, April , 2020. Both institutions said that I have no balance owning to them.
Both my insurer and I called the Account Representative whose name appears on the collection notice, one Courtney Crawford at ***, yesterday and today. The calls went unanswered and have never been returned.
This is in response to the above complaint. At the time that Network Recovery Services, Inc., sought payment for the hospital bill in question, namely April *** 2020, we understood that it had not been paid and we had no information regarding any applicable insurance coverage. We subsequently learned that the patient did have coverage, the insurance company was billed and ultimately paid the outstanding balance owed to the Hospital on May *** 2020. In addition, the patient owed a $35 copay which has been waived as a gesture of goodwill given the circumstances; therefore, there is now no balance due. Finally , NRS, as is its practice, did not report the patient’s debt to any credit bureau. Nothing NRS has done has had any impact on the patient’s credit status or their credit report.

The company acts like a bill collections agency, but they are very difficult to reach. The phone lines are never answered and leaving voicemails have no responses. Written letters take months to respond. They sent my collections notice to another law firm afterwards.
The collections information also have scant information about the charges and resolutions.
