My Caribbean Paradise Reviews (%countItem)

My Caribbean Paradise is just that! We purchased our home after falling in love with Honduras in 2015. We have only had positive experiences with the developer. They have treated us like family since the very beginning. From getting us to Honduras in once piece, making sure the fridge was full, taking us shopping, introducing us to the family & treating us to the Carnival in Le Ceiba, to putting us up in her own home! I have never experienced such a genuine sales person. The developer loves to share Honduras with all Canadians!
We wish to make Honduras our home away from home, with a little sun & a little beer!!
The developer has never broken a promise to me & has gone out of the way to accommodate my every need & change to the build. They continues to deliver on their promises.
Unfortunately, a few choice home owners have made enjoying our Caribbean Paradise difficult since they decided to try and out the Developer, *** and pursue what appears to be a personal vendetta against the Developer.
I would warn potential buyers to talk to the majority of home owners & NOT the small group of disgruntled home owners with personal agendas, about our positive experiences with My Caribbean Paradise. I sincerely hope to see you on the beach in paradise!!

My Caribbean Paradise is a joke and thatst an understatement. If yoy want to flush your hard earned money down the toilet invest in MCP. ***. *** DONT BE DUPPED BY HIGH RATINGS!!!! If your looking at property Flor L is trying to sell you In Honduras you better do your due diligence. If she is trying to paint a beautiful picture, don't believe her. ***. Don't let her tell you dhshe the owner, THIS IS A LIE!!! There's 3 partners in the company *** Understand, it's a beautiful place, but beware, Flor L will take your money and give you nothing in return.

My husband and I purchase our little piece of Honduran Paradise (Hell) in April of 2007. It was a bare lot in along the Caribbean coast line. Promises of Scuba Diving, Swimming Pools, Restaurants, paved roads and too many other *** came from the developer a Canadian Honduran by the name of Flor Lopez Espedal. Based on these *** we pursued our dream of a retirement home on the beach. We signed a contract with Flor Lopez Espedal’s construction company to build our dream home.
Construction was slow with many delays. Timelines came and went. One time we were told that the construction company could not go any further because they needed more money to put the roof on our house.
I flew to Honduras to inspect the house at this point and the cinder block construction consisted of two rows of cinderblocks. The house was barely a foot tall yet she needed more money to proceed with the roof.
In the end we wound up getting frustrated and finishing the house ourselves. To her benefit as she used pictures of the inside of our home with out our permission to sell more homes. These pictures were used in her Trade Shows and even Segments of a local news station.
It must also be noted that Flor Lopez Espedal controls everything at Paraiso Escondido from maid service/guards/internet/water/sewer. We paid her Canadian Management company to ensure that the people she hired on our behalf to look after our property.
*** Part of the fees that Flor Lopez Espedal collected from our monthly payments went towards property taxes. After becoming aware that Flor Lopez Espedal may not be telling us the truth about paying our bills on our behalf, we actually went to the town office to inquire about our taxes. Reminder this is not Canada. We had to go to a non English speaking building, it took us over 2 hours to finally find out that our property taxes had not been paid for years. *** We paid our back taxes and left. (We have documentation to prove this).
Another portion of the fees paid to Flor Lopez Espedal is for water and sewer. Water was often non reliable and we would go without water for days while they waited for someone to go and get parts to fix the problem. Once water is restored it is not potable, often containing a black sentiment. I have reason to believe, after talking with the local people in the neighbouring town, that the sewer drained into the river that the local villagers used for bathing and washing clothes.
The guards that we paid for monthly, were also never paid. When they complained they were just replaced by someone else ***. At one point a security company was hired. One day they just left and some locals showed up with guns to protect the property. My husband and I went and met with the former security company (along with an interpreter) to find out what was going on. They explained Flor Lopez Espedal owed them money and had not paid. (We have documentation to prove this).
We work remotely and rely totally on internet to run our business in Canada. At one-point, Flor Lopez Espedal said that the internet tower was down and they were waiting on parts from the US to repair it. One must understand. Honduras is a developing country where little or no English is spoken. We relied 100% on Flor Lopez Espedal for everything. We believed everything she said. After more than a month of having no internet and having to drive 1 hour or more to get any type of service, my husband and I drove 4 hours to the internet company office to discuss this with them.
They spoke little English but provided us with detailed paper work showing that the internet worked fine. It was not working because it was cut off because Flor Lopez Espedal had taken money from the Canadians for months and not paid for the internet bill on their behalf. *** We were told by Flor Lopez Espedal that the internet had to be paid whether we were in the country using it or not. Just so that we would be guaranteed service when we came to Honduras. We totally trusted Flor Lopez Espedal to handle everything and paid her Canadian Management Company the money. The internet company was told by Flor Lopez Espedal that, “The Canadians will not pay.” (We have documentation to prove this). In the end we just paid them directly for our internet.
Eventually we just paid everything we could directly to the people who provided the services to us. Some services we still paid to The Canadian Management Company, only because Flor Lopez Espedal monopolized these services and refused us access to our home if we did not.
*** In a country where we could not communicate. A foreign country with different laws and full of corruption. *** The Canadian Home Owners have been trying to implement their own HOA which would look after the service portion of the development. This HOA was promised in our covenants and purchase agreements. This would resolve a lot of the issues. Once the Canadians have an HOA in place and Flor Lopez Espedal no longer has control over the development, then and only then will there be a chance for this, once thought of paradise to move forward. However, it is a slow process in a country that is so full of corruption and you don’t know who to trust.
We were one of the lucky ones to have been able to sell our property, at a substantial loss. We didn't even get half of the money that we put into our home in the Caribbean. We fully disclosed to the new owners what was going on with the development.
Flor Lopez Espedal is a one-woman dictatorship hiding behind the name of My Caribbean Paradise / Constructora Del Caribe/ P.E Properties Inc./ Paraiso Escondido Properties Inc. Currently the development is a graveyard scattered with the remains of half finished homes corroding in the ocean air, *** The few Canadians who have finished their homes are constantly reminded of what could have been if only there would have been proper use of the millions of dollars paid to these companies all owned by Flor Lopez Espedal.
