We are in receipt of your letter regarding the complaint filed against our company by *** on October 5th
We have provided grooming services on different occasions for Mr***His pet Shih Tzu named "***" was months
old the first time we groomed his dogAt this time *** showed signs of anxiety immediately by urinating and defecating in the doorwaySome amount of anxiety is for a puppyHowever, this behavior continued with each subsequent groom despite our attempts at working with *** through our calming techniquesWe provided petting, holding, lavendar shampoo and massage to no avail
We communicated to the owner we felt his puppy needed socialization, but we would continue to work with him and and possibly he would get more comfortable with grooming as time went onThis did not happenWe then recommended to Mr.*** we felt it would be helpful to *** if he spoke to his veterinarian about assistance in controlling his puppy's anxiety.We groomed this puppy more times and each time the puppy's behavior did not changeClearly Mr*** did not follow our recommendationFailing to address a puppy's anxiety will result in prolonged behavioral problems
On October 3rd we placed the puppy in our holding kennel for no more than five minutes while we helped another customerWhen we went to take the puppy out, he was so stressed that he scratched the kennel door to the point that he pulled his own nail off himselfPlacing a dog in a kennel is done for safety reasonsIf this was not done, a dog would be left unattended on a table which is against all safety rulesWe immediately took the puppy out, wrapped his foot and called the owner to inform him we thought his puppy should be seen by a veterinarianHe came to pick his puppy up minutes laterHe said he wanted his groom completed at this timeWe told him we can finish the groom upon the veterinarians recommendationWe asked Mr*** to call to let us know how the puppy was after his appointmentHe did not call usWe called and left a message inquiring about *** the next day, and he still did not return our callIt wasn't until a week later that Mr*** called us and left a message asking for us to pay his vet billI called him back this same day and left a message for him to call meHe still has not returned my call
At this point I am still waiting to hear from Mr***
