I stopped into Meineke because my check engine light was on and my usual repair shop couldn’t get me in for a week. I let the front desk employee (told he is the owner) that my check engine light was on. He took my vehicle back and when I came back to get my vehicle back and pay for services he verified I just needed an oil change. I told him I had just gotten my oil changed, he said that’s what the code was for and I paid and left. My check engine light was no longer on so I took his word for it. I went on a vacation and the second day of driving my vehicle the check engine light turned back on. When I went back to Meineke to see what was wrong with my vehicle I was spoken to disrespectfully, was dismissed and called a liar. The owner offered me cash in the parking lot to go away. When I told him it was not about the money I wanted to know what was wrong with my vehicle he walked away. I had to take my vehicle to another shop and pay for a diagnosis and now have hundreds of dollars worth of work needed. The other shop told me that the check engine light would have turned on due to a cylinder issue and that because the light was reset but the issue was not repaired it caused more damage to my vehicle. I not only paid for an oil change I didn’t need I now also have extensive damage I would not have had if Meineke had not reset my check engine light without doing the necessary repairs.
On July 16, 2018 The customer came in with a Maintenance Required light with ***, which is a completely different light than the Check Engine light. It notify's drivers that they are due an oil change. The previous oil change that she had was on February 8th, 2018 with 152070 miles. We performed the oil change which was 1987 miles overdue from her last service and reset her "Maintenance Required" light as we do with every vehicle when we perform a Lube Oil And Filter change. Had the customer had a check engine light at the time of service we would have wanted to provide her a quote and repair as that is our profit center, not Oil Changes. Furthermore, if you reset a check engine light without repairing the vehicle the light comes right back on within 30 miles which is a drive cycle. Any mechanic, or emission's agent will verify that.
The check engine light that the customer came in with yesterday was for a cylinder misfire (coil issue) which is a tune-up. The customer suggested that we were responsible for the light and we needed to fix it for free. I demonstrated to the customer the different lights and showed her the documentation. I offered at that point to refund her the oil change expense to make her happy. She said "I don't want your money, I want you to fix the car".
I am happy to refund her the $32.72 for the oil job that we did over a month ago and hundreds of miles driven.
Had my oil changed around fathers day June 2018, and when done received a list of some possible work needed to be done on my vehicle. I called and scheduled a couple of the items listed due to the quote given. Confirmed this price when dropped off vehicle and at that time was informed this was not entirely true due to the unhidden charges not listed on the quote namely shop supplies I n the amount of $12.26.The only reason going back to have work done was the quote I was given. Had I known at the time of the quote there were additional fees I would have taken the vehicle else where. Just seems very dishonest to not include all charges involved surrounding the quotes they are giving to customers.
I have attached my invoice and the quote I was given. And they can find my name in the system not to hard to figure out last name *** and see what vehicle had the most recent service. Tired of this stalling and delay tactic.
I have reviewed the invoices and the quotes provided to the claimant. Our documentation is complete and non-abiguous. The quotes for services include line items for parts and labor for each service to include a Subtotal by service. The Total amount is clearly boxed and highlighted on each document that includes shop supplies and tax. I will fax these documents so that you will see that we do not have unfair selling practices or deceptions for the Revdex.com's satisfaction. I will however, refund the shop supplies that the claimant is asking for even though they were clearly outlined in his quotes for services prior to the work being done.
