M & B Auto, Inc. Reviews (3)

I took my truck to M & B auto in Cameron, NC just to have starter checked it turns out the starter was ok but suggestions were done to do belts which I agree so I tell them to keep vehicle till following Monday I brought it in and when I came to pick it up it was not ready I said ok 30 minutes later it was done I proceed to take It home and when I get home smoke is coming out of the hood. I was scared thought it was on fire I call and they tell me bring it back mind you I am a single divorce woman and have taken care of myself since I was 10 years old after my mother died so I take it back and they tell me now that the coolant reservoir is cracked ok my question is if you the mechanic was in there why didn't you test drive it after belts were put in so they put reservoir in and I drive home and I don't drive until I have to work next day so as I am driving its starts to shake and check engine light is flickering so I turn around to go home and when I get to my house AGAIN smoke is coming out along with the coolant reservoir that they put in new was empty this is to me un acceptable so I get towed and told them its leaking again and they tell me its the radiator I have never had this bad service so $800.00 dollars later I know my 2002 truck is old but I have a 94 truck and still running with original parts I took the truck in with NO problems until they had it I will not take it anymore and not recommend them I know my comments doesn't make a difference but I am honest and believe other people should be as well I didn't mind to have the repairs done but the anguish of it all. I could've been stranded or worse.

M&B Auto took payment on repair they did not complete. Failure to do repair caused $1,000 worth of damage! On December 31st, 2013 I took my 2000 BMW 323i to M&B Auto in Cameron, NC. I came into the shop and told the owner ([redacted]) that I had been experiencing extreme inner tire wear on the rear tires prior to putting new ones on. These new tires were Bridgestone run flats avg. $250 per tire before labor. [redacted] the owner of the business stated that I required an alignment and his shop could do it. He told me their mechanic that normally works on German cars had the day off, but had another fully capable mechanic that could do the work that morning. I asked [redacted] to speak with the mechanic, because the car had been lowered and the mechanic would need to take that into account when doing the alignment. [redacted] told me I was wrong and that it needed to be set to factory settings dictated by the alignment machine. I attempted to argue that it was not stock, however he continued to tell me I didn't know what I was talking about. After 2 hours they returned my car "completed." The mechanic said he adjusted the back and it was only off by a little bit. As I walked out to my car I noticed that the rear wheels were still pointing at a severe outward angle. I went back inside and asked [redacted] to come out and look at it. He assured me that this was normal and that all BMW's have their tires this way. I was under the impression at the time that [redacted] and his mechanic where experts and their alignment advice was correct. I later found out I was mistaken. After 3,000 I noticed severe inside tire wear on my brand new tires. So much that they would need to be replaced soon. Since I was out of state I took it to a local Sear's auto center and had an alignment evaluation. They put it on the 4 wheel alignment rack and found that all four tires came up RED and all four tires had improper alignment. This shop told me that because the vehicle is lowered it is not even possible to do a proper alignment with the current equipment and would require aftermarket parts to do a proper alignment. Also they said that any shop that said they did was lying and took advantage of you.So on my next trip to NC I called M&B told them what happened and was greeted with hostility. The next day I come to their shop and requested to speak with [redacted] the owner again. I asked him to once again come look at my vehicle. He stood behind it again and stated that it looked normal. At this point I laughed! I told him what the other shop said and attempted to show him the print outs. He said that even though it had only been 4,000 miles at this point "too" much time had passed. I argued that how is one to know his shop did an improper alignment without driving the vehicle and noticing the extreme tire wear still happening. Does he suggest that everyone who gets work done at his shop have it double checked elsewhere? I also showed him my license tag which is out of state. He responded that he would not stand there and argue with me and refused to give me any compensation. To include the cost of the alignment that Sear's auto center said was not possible to do correctly under the vehicles current condition. I asked [redacted] to speak with the mechanic who did the alignment and he told me he was "unavailable."It is apparent that [redacted] and M&B Auto deceived me in lying about the work they clearly did not do. That deception led to a substantial financial loss on my part, as well as time. I also will have to have the work re done properly. I am confident that when I go to court there will be little doubt in the judges mind. Also it is apparent that [redacted] thinks my age and out of state status will prevent me from filing litigation. Another basis of M&B not wanting to issue a return of my funds or compensate me for the loss they clearly caused! If you check online reviews from several different sources you will see that I am not the only one who has had a negative experience with M&B and [redacted]. I regret not checking the reviews prior to going there.Desired SettlementI am requesting the following;Refund alignment not done: $69.952 new Bridgestone Runflat tires: $250/eachLabor (mount, balance, alignment): $120Total: $689.95Business Response /[redacted]/Business states that consumer was told at the time that a perfect alignment was not possible due to him lowering the suspension, and that additional parts (shim kits) would be needed to get it any better. Additionally, because consumer waited 5 months to return with a problem, anything could have happened to the alignment in that time. Business cannot be held responsible for wear on the tires. As a gesture of goodwill, they will, however, refund the cost of the alignment $69.95

M&B Auto did faulty work on a repair service and now my vehicle has been having mechanical issues that was not present before the service provided. On March 12, 2016, I took my 2004 [redacted] into M & B Auto, INC in Cameron NC for a Major Tune Up priced at $621.82 by debit card. The service that was provided was faulty. The first issue is that the technician did not tighten the bolts on the Manifold and the vehicle was leaking oil. The check engine light was also on and these issues did not exist prior to doing business with the owner [redacted] and his establishment. The vehicle broke down that very night at 8:46pm and had to be towed back to the location of M&B Auto, INC. On Monday morning March 14,2016 I went back up to the business to notify them that my vehicle was not properly work on and that it broke down and had to be towed back to them. After leaving it there all day I arrived around 5pm after work to pick the vehicle up and the owner [redacted] stated that the gasket fell off and was fixed. The technician also called me to apoligize and also say that he did secure the bolts on the manifold and don't know what happened. I took pictures of the bolts as prove of my claim of faulty work and showed it to the front desk clerk. When I went to get into my vehicle the check engine light was still on. So I went back to the owner now frustrated and told him that the light was still on, and at this time he goes out to the vehicle and takes it into the bay to have the technician go over it again. I went to the owner and asked him if he could refund me some of my money back because now I am having issues with my vehicle and that before I took it in for the tune up I wasn't having any mechanical problems and that all I wanted was a tune up but I guess that paid for your workers to break my vehicle. The owner [redacted] proceeds to tell me that they didn't break my vehicle and that I have a older model vehicle with a lot of miles on it.My odometer is currently at 160,000 miles and is a 2004 that does not justify the service that was poorly performed. So basically all my issues are coming from me having a lot of miles on my vehicle and it being a 2004. I asked for a refund several times, at least half of my money and he tells me no every time and gives me a free oil change. My spouse who is a military service member does our oil changes so you can keep your service. So I haven't driven the vehicle since I got it from M&B Auto INC,on Monday March142016 On today March 17, 2016 I went out to start the vehicle and once again it will not start.I called the owner [redacted] and told him that my vehicle is once again not starting, he tells me to bring it in so they can look at it and that it can possible be something draining the battery. So I will have to now get another tow service to come and tow my vehicle. I will not be taking my vehicle back to this business for the third time and let them continue to do further damage to my vehicle. Desired SettlementThe resolution that I would like is a full refund. I am now at the point to where I have to take my vehicle to another Auto Repair Shop to correct the damage that M&B Auto LLC, has done thus far to my vehicle. This whole experience has been such a headache. I have never experienced anything like this before. The owner of the business should be ashamed of himself for the lack of concern that he has for the service that his technicians are given to his customers. I will not be using the services of this business again while we are stationed here at Fort Bragg, Nc. All I want is my money back so I can go and pay someone else to repair my vehicle correctly.
