I paid $1200 for Lighthouse to submit for student loan forgiveness. No contact from business and claim was denied.
After paying the $1200 and all my personal information was obtained, I heard NOTHING. I attempted to reach them for months. I finally heard from a rep last week that the case was in the hands of Dept of Education and all inquiries needed to go to them. Initially, I was told by Mary that my case was iron clad and would have virtually no chance of denial. Ironically, I received notice yesterday that the case was denied. Not only am I still responsible for insane amounts of student loans, I am also out the time (almost 18 months), had a ton of additional interest added to my loans, and now the $1200 Lighthouse took for this service.

Wronged by Art Insitute of Pittsburgh Online. Said they could help. Two CC payments later & I still owe $300. Feel I messed up & wont pay remainder.
Feel I was wronged by the Art Insitute of Pittsburgh Online. They said they could drop my entire school loan if I paid an amount. I didnt have that amount. Said what I had with my CC and they accepted that with another payment of $300 at the end of the month. Maxed both CC and locked them, but they have my debit card. Will try to stop a payment for that amount of $300. I feel I messed up and if dropping an $80,000 school loans sounds to go to be true, it probably is. Feel I was taken advantage of and wonder who else might be taken advantage of. Lesson learned. I'm to broke for these scams.

This company promised to perform a service they failed to perform; the contract is likely not legal. They refused to answer my queries.
In April 2019, I signed a contract with Lighthouse, and I paid them $1200.00. In exchange, Lighthouse promised to file a Defense to Repayment claim on my behalf with the Department of Education, follow up on the claim, contact me with information about it, and maintain a file on my behalf. Lighthouse claims that it filed a claim on my behalf. I requested a copy of my file, and my request was summarily denied. Thus, Lighthouse does not claim to have, and has not, followed up on my claim or contacted me with information about the claim or maintained a filed on my behalf. I requested a copy of any files it maintained on my behalf, and my request was summarily denied.

I contacted this company to get help filing a borrower defense to repayment of my student loans. Once the company had my social security number and credit card number, I never heard back about next steps. I tried to fax a notice of cancellation, and the fax machine was constantly busy. I did some research and found out that you can file a borrower defense of repayment for free and that this is a common scam. I'm afraid that I will now be the victim of identity theft because these people have my personal information.
