Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: My bike still doesnt start and/or run. I took my motorcycle to get fixed not just throw money at things I didnt need. As I stated in my complaint, the battery was fine. Why wasnt an electrical test done to determine the problem? I trusted his knowledge.Sincerely,[redacted]
The Customer had the motorcycle towed in for non-functioning lighting (electrical problems) and dead battery. After several hours of electrical diagnostic, we determined that his lights were shorting at the switches in the handlebars. The switch housings were filled with rain water do to the...
customer leaving the motorcycle outside, uncovered all winter long. It was decided that it was a better idea to completely replace all the handlebar switches and re-wire the handlebars. This process was done and it resolved the lighting issue that the customer complained about. During this time we had the battery on a charger. We then started the motorcycle. After sitting over night, the next morning, the battery was very week and below acceptable voltage. I then called the customer and explained what we did and how we came to this conclusion of the battery needed to be replaced.
At that point, the customer showed signs of concern on the cost of these repairs. Being that Jim had been a customer of the shop so I explained the amount of time and parts cost we had into his motorcycle. I then told him that we would make a deal for him so that he could afford the repair.
Time of electrical diagnostic- 2.5 hours
Time of re-wiring handlebars- 3 hours
Time of testing charging system- .5 hours
Cost of Handlebar switch kit- $100
Cost of battery- $120
Sales tax- $69.37
Total- $823.37
