Landmark Auto, Inc. Reviews (5)

The salesman was deceitful with the cost & extra upgrades done to the vehicle and knowledge of problems from the start. We searched for vehicles for at least a month and finally came to agree on a 2004 Ford F250 Lariat at Landmark Auto Inc. of 69 N.C. HWY 210, Smithfield, NC XXXXX. I went there April 9th, 2014 to look at the truck. He liked it, I liked it...WE LIKED IT!!! Super excited, we went there the next day Thursday, April 10th, 2014 and talked to [redacted] about buying the truck. We went for a short test drive & decided to buy the truck. As we were doing the paper work, I realized he was charging $300.00 more than the internet price. We had said something to him and he said man they're fees, it's only $300. That should have been my red flag but we wanted it. We payed $3,100 in cash and $400 on our debit card. We On the way home the front end began to shake when we were stopping. Little did we know, this was just the beginnings of our problems with this truck and dealership. We called Friday afternoon to address the problem and weigh our options. Hoping since we had just drove off the lot not even 24 hours prior that they would take care of the problem. But boy was I wrong. [redacted] said he was suprised it didn't do it on the test drive & just to go have it fixed it wasn't pricey. So we let it go and were gonna fix it ourselves with no fuss. Next thing we know on Saturday, not even 48 hours later we noticed the temperature fluctuating. Sunday April 13th, 2014 made 3 days we had driven this big, nice, beautiful truck from Landmark Auto Inc. Good thing it was big, nice, and beautiful because now it's our newest yard ornament. Sunday it began to overheat and all of a sudden white smoke poured from the exhaust pipe and it just didn't stop. We pulled in a driveway and cut it off. It smelled like antifreeze when we got out. We called a mechanic and he said it sounded like the head gasket had blown and that it would be around $5,000 to fix!!! Wow! Who has that kind of money right after putting a down payment on a vehicle three days prior? Not us! That's for sure. We ended up sitting in this driveway for 3 hours waiting to be towed home. The next morning we got on the phone and called [redacted] from Landmark Auto Inc. He gave us the run around all day, everyday, leading up to today, April 19th, one week and two days after leaving the lot. Saying everything from no one is here but me, I can't get in touch with the owner, it's not in their policy to refund our down payment, to we will get in touch with you when we know something. The finance company backed out due to mechanical issues on the truck on Monday, April 14th, 2014. We went to the location in Smithfield on 210 HWY today, April 19th, 2014, and [redacted]'s answer today was to pin it on the finance company when we undoubtedly know the finance company has had nothing to do with this truck since Monday, April 14th, 2014. We literally have the paperwork showing they have had nothing more to do with this truck. Still, we have resolved no issues. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES & DO NOT NOT NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED A TRUSTWORTHY DEALERSHIP THAT WILL SELL YOU A RELIABLE VEHICLE.Desired SettlementI would like to get my down payment of $3,500 and the $100 for towing the vehicle after it broke down three days after buying it. So all in all I want $3,600 back for my expenses on the truck.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@landmarkautoinc.comMr. [redacted] came in on April 9, 2014 test drove vehicle after test drive he claims he like it and wanted to purchase the truck which he did he came in on April 10, 2014 and purchased the vehicle. On Saturday 12, 2014 Mr. [redacted] called claiming that when he applied the breaks it had a slight vibration, I, [redacted] informed him that when rotors get very hot they will tend to do that. I also said to him that I was surprised it was doing it that day and not on the day of the test drive. I didn't hear from Mr. [redacted] until Monday April 14, 2014 that's when he informed me that truck had gotten hot and he had towed vehicle to his home cause he didn't want to drive it on those conditions. He also told me he had called finance company and backed out of the loan and had also called insurance company and cancel insurance on the vehicle. When Mr. [redacted] purchased the vehicle we had offered extended warranties and he waived. He ask what he can do about the situation I informed him I was going to talk to my boss and will get back to him. I called him on Tuesday April 15, 2014 told him my boss had said that we can pick up the vehicle with our tow truck at no charge and we would bring it to a certify diesel mechanic to find out what was wrong with the truck and work it out but that he needed to call his insurance company and add insurance to the truck so we can tow it for him, he agreed to add the insurance and told us he would call us back and he didn't so we called him back that same day later in the afternoon to arrange to pick up truck and he said no that he was keeping truck until we gave him the down payment back to him.Mr. [redacted] is claiming the returned of his deposit of $3500.00 and he is also claiming that we charge him $300.00 over purchase price, well this fees were due to finance. He also claims he's been looking for a truck over a month and he agrees that we had the best price, a good looking truck and he test drove it and all was fine. We have tried to work with Mr. [redacted] but he denies for us to take a look at the truck and waived warranty and he cannot keep truck hostage and ask us for money back things don't work that way basically he tried to do that on April 19, 2014 when he came in mid morning he ask for his down payment and said he will keep truck until his money was given back to him and things don't work like that.

Check engine light came on the day we bought vehicle. Owner not willing to help resolve the issue. Hasn't even called me back since October 2014.Check engine light codes: P0014-exhaust camshaft positionP1400-cold start emission reduction control systemP0506-idle speed lowP0128-ect below thermostat regulating temperatureP0455-evap system large leak detectedP0449-evap vent solenoid control circuitC0445-steering wheel position sensorC0244-service stability TracP2119-electric throttle control/ecm/throttle valve open.Oh, and not to mention it needs a front wheel bearing, the wipers only work on high. Heart and a/c doesn't work well. All these codes came on 5 hours after we bought the vehicle. Told the owner, but he says it's our problem. Even the License plate theft agency has seen the codes that are on and say that Landmark should honor there product.Desired SettlementI have spoke with several mechanics, the truck would cost more than its worth to repair. I would like for Landmark to put me in a different vehicle system no cost to me. I have been loyal and paid my car payment every other week just like I agreed to, that's the least they could do. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Front Office ManagContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]Customer purchased vehicle on 8/01/15 and vehicle was running fine and pass inspection it had no problem. Customers came in sometime later and said engine light came on they said it was probably due because of the gas cap been worn and customer told us she will go ahead and replace and we never heard anything else. Now they do come in and make payments on this vehicle every two weeks and to the best of our knowledge we haven't heard anything from customer. If customer had an issue with vehicle like they done before they could of told us about it but that's the first time we heard from them since they talked about doing the gas cap. We do apologize for their inconvenience but we sold the vehicle as is they test drove it they like it purchased it. We do sale used vehicles and we make sure they are in good shape before they are put in the lot to be sold and we make sure they run properly but after six months of customer using the vehicle and to complain about an existing problem.

On May 15 I purchased a [redacted] from Landmark Auto Inc. When I bought it they said that everything was good and working order on the truck. I looked the truck over and bought the truck. That night I turned the A/C to blow out the windshield vents and heard a clunk. The following day when I tried to shift back to the regular mid controls it wouldn't switch back. Took it to a diesel mechanic and latter found out that it was missing the air canister to the vacuum motor witch allows it to shift from windshield, mids, and floor blowers. I asked the mechanic why it worked when I bought it seeing that the canister was missing when I bought it. He told me that most likley someone propped the door open to the A/C and that was the clunk that I heard the first night because in order for it to blow out of any other vents besides the windshield it has to have the canister that was missing. Also the night that I bought the truck the right mirror worked with the controls to adjust the mirror. Days latter that stopped working. The Center console leather top was fine when I bought it the first time I opened it the fabric came off seeing that all the plastic stud's that hold it on are broken. Speakers on hole left side of truck are not working. Once all of these issues started to arise left and right I called the dealership and asked to talk to [redacted] the sales manager. I was told that he would call me back from [redacted] and never received a call back. I called them again a week later seeing that I had to go out of town. Spoke to a women on the phone and she took my number down and said that they where busy they will call back. Now I'm 2 week past the day I bought the truck and now the belt on the truck start squealing ever time I start the truck and squeals for 20 mins till it gets warmed up. Then the back passenger door will not open and still will not open. After all these issue I've called and no one will solve issues. I also had tax title and tags in deal. Received the tags on June 4th and bill for $101.Product_Or_Service:[redacted]Desired SettlementI expect resolution to issues and problems fixed. For Door, a/c, console, Mirror, speakers, and belt. I expect to talk to the owner. I either want issues fixed or refunded money so I can buy parts and instal. I also want the $101 dollars to pay the taxes on truck that was apart of the deal. Business Response As stipulated and agreed to in his sales contract, Mr. [redacted] purchased the [redacted] as is with no warranty. We inspect vehicles for engine / drive train functionality and for any safety concerns. All vehicles are then sent to independent state certified inspection stations where they are tested and certified before being placed on our lot for sale. These inspections do not cover interior wear and tear or the functionality of non essential electrical accessories. When Mr. [redacted] came to purchase the truck, he was given, and took advantage of, more than ample time to inspect and test it both inside and out. He was aware of all the existing issues he has stated in his complaint prior to purchase. Also as stipulated and agreed to by Mr. [redacted] on the Bill of Sale was the inclusion of sales tax and DMV fees in the "Amount to Finance." Any additional costs, such as property taxes, are the sole responsibility of the purchaser, as stated on the MVR-1 form that Mr. [redacted] signed and initialed.Unfortunately, because the vehicles we sell are used, we cannot anticipate how they will perform or function after they are sold. We also cannot anticipate how they are used or maintained. While we understand Mr. [redacted]'s frustration with issues that can arise from purchasing a used vehicle, we are unable to assist him at this time.

Truck somhow doesn't have a salvage title.IT SHOULDSo long story short.purchased a [redacted] with a lift kit and big tires so I wasn't expecting a perfect vehicle knowing the nature of these trucks. I excepted the risk. About to happily mail out my first payment when on the way home I smelled something odd. Got home crawled under the truck, yeah that's when I noticed that the frame had been cut and welded in front of the cab mounts. How can this truck have a "CLEAR TITLE" when its been CUT IN HALF. Well when asked what they were going to do there response" has a clear title so there's nothing we'really going to do". So ok I called the finance. Company and there investigating so good luck to landmark I hope they get the same attitude from them that I got from them. As for me looks like I have a 16,000 dollar truck that is basicly worthless in value thanks landmark Ill be sure to highly recommend you to all my Friends. NOTDesired SettlementTake this truck back and give me my 3000 dollar deposit back. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]/ Front Office ManContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]Landmark Auto Inc. values the business of our customers greatly including Mr. [redacted]. We've tried on two separate occasions to communicate to Mr. [redacted] that Landmark Auto Inc. does not deal with salvage and if has a salvage trade once in a blue moon it will be disclosed on the damage disclosure statement. Landmark Auto Inc. has clean title for that vehicle and a copy will be attached

Mileage turned back on odometer from truck I purchasedJuly 2014 I purchased a [redacted] for 12000. Seemed pricey but I thought, ugh 97,000 miles this is a really good deal. Well April 2015, I went to trade for a newer truck since it seemed week after week I was having trouble with this truck and Ive been stranded more than I care to count so I decided to trade. Went to another dealership and the salesman at the dealership gave me a [redacted] for my truck and said the miles had been turned back by 100,000 and that my truck was only valued at 1500, not the 9500 I still owe on it. All paperwork from Lamdmark Auto Inc states 97,000 miles. This is recorded on several documents and the odometer read 97,000 the day I purchased and got it financed.Desired SettlementI plan on contacting the car lot immediately. Would like to settle without courts and attorneys, but will do what's right in the name of my character and my credit. I gave my wife's [redacted] worth 4500 and $500 cash for a[redacted] with what was suppose to be 97000 miles. I would like the $500 cash I paid, the value of my wife's vehicle which I used for a trade, he take full responsibility of the truck, and refund for payments made as of date.Business Response This is the first time we are hearing about this situation and we are working very hard to find out what's going on. We have our Bill of Sale from the Auction and from our stand point the Bill of Sale is clear and doesn't show mileage discrepancy. We are not in the crooked business and we want to make sure that is very clear. Now we just pulled the Auto Check and we see the mileage discrepancy and for sure what it shows is on the same date we bought is showing a clerical error is not a roll back issue. We did got in touch with the Auction and they are looking into it to make sure us and customer is satisfy with the issue. We also want to make sure that customer didn't even got in touch with us to at least give us a chance to rectify the problem and he made sure he let everyone know what was going on before he got in touch with us. Our reputation is legitimate and we want to keep it that way. We are working very hard to make sure we get this issue solved promptly and to make sure both parties are satisfy fully.Consumer Response As a consumer, I was legally advised to let the proper authorities handle this situation. I am not nor have I accused anyone of anything at this point only stating the documented evidence that was provided to me at the time I made the purchase.
