I purchased a vanity at the store as a 'scratch and dent' item. Damage to item was misrepresented and was not repairable. Requesting full refund.I purchased a vanity from this store for $1238.25 on 10/18/2015. My bathroom contractor discovered that the stone top was very low quality and held together with epoxy. The top was cracked all the way through in one corner and had been glued back together. The doors were not 'wood' as advertised and actually made from pressed cardboard. I took the vanity to a stone fabricator and was told that someone had attempted to repair the top previously with epoxy and it would be impossible to remove without damaging the cardboard the top was attached to. Quote to replace the top was $800. This item was misrepresented by the sales staff. I returned the vanity and am awaiting a refund.Desired SettlementPlease refund the price of the purchase. This item has been returned and is not in my possession.Business Response Item was a clearance item purchased and clearly marked "as is", but product quality issue are irrelevant reason why no refund can be issue is item was not returned in the condition in which they picked it up in, item's must be returned in condition the they where accepted in to receive a refund.Consumer Response The owner of this company has yet to e-mail or call me to understand the facts of my complaint. This would seem to be a basic courtesy. The item at Kirk Imports was represented by the salesperson as a 'solid wood vanity' with a sign posted indicating that it had a 'chipped top'. I am sure the misunderstanding that resulted in my loss was largely due to lack of knowledge on the part of the salesperson and not a deliberate attempt to deceive. The salesperson wasn't sure about the extent of damage to the item but she assured me that if there were any problems the item could be returned. The loading workers slightly damaged the legs loading the item I discovered when I got home but it was hard for them without the proper equipment to lift a 400lb+ item. There was a misrepresentation by Kirk Imports as to the extent of damage to the item and what repairs had been attempted prior to my purchase. The condition was far greater than a 'chipped top' which could have been easily repaired. There were fractures running through the entire surface rendering it unrepairable. After further inspection by a professional stone repair company it was revealed that Kirk Imports or the manufacturer had previously attempted to repair the stone top and fastened it with high strength epoxy to the sides of the cabinet. Kirk Imports acknowledged that the condition of the item was worse than reasonably expected and issued a refund of around $170 to compensate. Unfortunately since the materials of the cabinet were pressed paper and it was glued with such a large amount of adhesive it was impossible to remove the top without damaging the cabinet. We returned the item and it was accepted by Kirk Imports. The quote for new granite was over $800. Unfortunately the item was of such low quality (the cardboard would not survive in a wet environment) it could not be used for it's intended purpose. I suffered a loss of over $1000 dollars on an item that probably wholesales for around $300.Kirk Imports has offered a credit. However the cost in delivering and returning the item, delaying construction, obtaining quotes, and finding a replacement has been in excess of the offered credit. I had to purchase a vanity elsewhere. It seems fair that they should refund the purchase price since this is no fault of my own.Final Business Response still same thing I said last time, the reason no refund can be issue is it was not returned to us in the same condition we sold it to you in, if it had been a full refund would have been issued.
