Keystone Tire & Auto Repair, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I took my wife's vehicle to renew her NYS inspection. I went to this shop because it was local. The [redacted] tried to extort me for services that the vehicle did not need. I am in the middle of disputing it with my credit card company as we speak. After he said that he was going to fail me if I did not get the work done with him, I told him then fail it. He then proceeded to tell me if I at least leave a deposit then he would pass the vehicle and I could come back. I again told him to fail it and I will go somewhere else. I then went down the road to another repair facility and gave them the failure paper and they also confirmed that it was a lie. They proceeded to do the entire process over and passed me for the inspection and told me nothing is wrong with the vehicle. They actually commended me on how well it was taken care of. I have a mechanic that I have been using for a long time. He has actually changed the parts in question a few months prior to this. That was also a dead giveaway that the [redacted] at Key Stone was a crook! I will submit proof so you can see for yourself. After this incident, I have spoken to several people in my neighborhood who has had similar incidents with this place. The only difference is that I have decided to take some action in order to prevent this from continuing. I am hoping that you can help with this.Desired Settlement: I want a refund and to have his shop closed down. At the very least, he should be fined and not be able to continue ripping people off.

Response:

It is very disturbing that you would say something like this. What are you really upset about? Let me refresh your memory. First after I inspected your vehicle and

had shown you the loose parts in your vehicle and you confirmed this with you and me standing under the vehicle and also had shown you the part that I identified an outer tie rod end as being replaced by someone and never greased. If you believed this to be an error, then why did you agree with the findings? You also asked for a price to repair your leaking exhaust. I gave you the prices for both jobs & informed you that you would need to have the steering repaired before passing this vehicle. I also told you the exhaust repair could be reduced in price by $60.00 if you could leave me a deposit to order the part.

This is a big difference from what you believe now to be your explanation of this event.

Crooks, Extorting, Neighbors agreeing with you. I sleep at night knowing that I DO NOT EVER SELL SOMETHING THAT IS NOT NEEDED. Also what sense does it make to your claim that I would allow you a passed Inspection with a deposit on the exhaust without repairing the steering? Further, if you had not had these repairs completed yet, you are still in an unsafe vehicle, with an illegal NYS Inspection Sticker on your vehicle. Both with worn steering and leaking exhaust fumes.

Well let’s see, is it the Mechanic who said there's nothing wrong. Is he trying to be a hero stating everything is good? Or he needs to be retrained on steering systems. Very simple verification, raise vehicle with wheels hanging, grab back side of wheel and attempt to move it left & right, any loose parts need replacement.

Did you ask him to pass this vehicle knowing it's unsafe? It is easy to claim something later when the accused is not present to defend.

Take another look at your invoice you'll see the two separate estimates for the work needed, asking for a deposit for the exhaust ONLY. I have a copy if you cannot find yours. So who is telling the truth? Let me ask you, why would I bring you to your vehicle to show you the worn parts? I stand on my decision and reputation that these steering items were and may still be needed for replacement.

Could it be that we both were given the wrong information by this other mechanic? I would like to offer you a steering inspection, the two of us and whomever else you would like to bring, at my business, to check this vehicle over once more. I would allow you to stand over and watch, film or any other means you feel necessary, to verify my original findings.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because

the business [redacted] is obviously liying. He did not read or understand excatly what I originally wrote. I have attached the proof that my vehicle did in fact pass NYS inspection. I did not go to my usual mechanic that is all the way in Corona Queens. I went to another local shop just a little down the road and expalined to them what happened. they inspected my vehicle and told me that there was nothing wrong with my tie rods. I brought up the fact that my regular mechanic has replaced my tie rods not too long ago. As far as him asking for me to come back, that would be fine. I will go back when there is a representitive from DMV and the Revdex.com to witness it. The only other way I would return to his shop is if he would like to get into a ring with me. If you look at the receipt that I attached, it will show you that I passed NYS inspection within minutes of him originally failing me. Also, he stated that I agreed with what he showed me. That is a lie. I did not agree or argue with him about anything. I just knew what he was trying to do. At that point I just wanted to get the car back and leave. I know if I would have stayed and argued it would have turned out bad. At ths point I just want my my refund. I refuse to accept being ripped off in my own neighborhood. I did not move from Queens to get ripped off in Long island. That's not happening.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,
