I would appreciate [redacted] calling me at my work numberThat number has been given to [redacted] and [redacted] in emails and in phone messages asking to call my direct lineI have not recieved a call from anyone from Jayson at my workMy cell phone is currently being repaired The roof's two areas of repairs that were completed on the roof a short time ago appear correct - there are nails in "those" shinglesThe turbo vent closest to the North repair area has been damaged/brokenThis needs to be fixed/replaced However, the real issue, improper installation, has not been addressed and resolvedPhotos (taken in Jan 26) and the Building Inspection report of Feb 5/14, submitted to Jayson Roofing, show the shortfalls of the installation and [redacted] will NOT warranty the shingle/roofThere are shingles with nails, some 2, some 4, impressions of nails but no nail, nails between shingles holding nothing, nails cutting through shinglesThere is no way this roof will hold up under mild wind or the years paid forWe went with this shingle based on the km wind resistanceThe repairs to the roof are appreciated but the real issue has yet to be addressed and resolved [redacted] Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 9, 2014/04/11) */ In regards to your Turbo Vent we will need further clarification on what you refer to Damaged/Broken and what needs to be fixed/replaced As per the comments on the installation of the shinglesThe installation of the shingles where completed to the minimum standards of the manufacture and as per our contract with [redacted] Because of the installation standards that we installed the shingles by [redacted] will warranty the shingles as per their standard warranty and have not advised or commented that they would not or even consider not warranting their product Based on the pictures that where provided to us we do see shingles being installed with nails per shingle so it would suggest the writers of the report are referring to missing nails in a area above the nailing line in which can not be counted as actual nails installed as those shingles are missing so a actual count cannot be determined The shingles have held up well since the installation of them in Aug, with that time line being approximately months or over 1/yearsBased on this time line the installation of the shingles shows that they can and have held up to minor and heavy winds as we have went through multiple seasons In order to have the conflict of improper installation of shingles resolved we are willing to meet on site to confirm or review any findings that anyone would have with the shingles I have made contact via phone on April 11, and will be forwarding via email times that my production representative will be able to meet on site We look forward to having mutual resolution as soon as we can
Poor after service lets the company down We're currently dealing with Jayson, and by dealing this involves calling and chasing them (4th day of waiting for call backs from messages left on separate days) to physically assess our roofing repairsSalesman informed us that we would not be invoiced until the job was completed to OUR satisfaction, but of course we've been invoiced alreadyWe were also handed a certificate of completion AHEAD of work being started and a letter apologising for not being able to meet with us to go through the work assessment with usWe were expected to sign and return to them a copy of this, without the Jayson representatives signature on the form which to me smacks of bad practice Should we need to make any claims in the future we would have nothing signed by Jayson to even prove they even completed the work We contracted a large reputable company to avoid being given the run around and it's still happening before we've even paid!
September to January Removed and Replaced Shingles: They delivered a different brand and colour of shingles that were sparkled grey with some black They did continue to deal with a Larry, who stood by his statement that "we" forgot, but did eventually remove the incorrect shingles started, and replaced with the correct colour - Dual Black In the quote they did agree to replace any plywood that was damaged or soft, as far as we could tell they did not replace anything, so we are assuming the roof was in good shape? The roofing team we had were really great, varied from three to five guys, most I think were from Quebec - but we managed to communicate in broken English The final day was the first snow, so concerned they would not adhere, but they appear to be fine Removed and Replaced Aluminum Siding: They started in late fall, I think around November - because they were not vinyl but steel, they worked all through Christmas Initially they delivered both correct steel siding, along with incorrect siding colour - cream They were ready to start installing the new siding, but did not have the insulation included as per the quote I called the office, and they delivered the same morning, but I was surprised it was like 'bubble wrap', with the other side a silver reflected colour I do not believe that was what was discussed, but only realized this in hindsight Also well into the siding replacement, one of the guys mentioned that the quote did not include the bay window siding, because it was a special order as vertical vinyl material, so that it could curve around the five windowsTo have that different then the other siding made no sense, so they did find a compromise in painstakingly custom cutting the steel and placed horizontally, it is okay, but not as nice as the vertical framing from before Even with multiple miscommunications with the office, we were assured by one of the siding team, Brad, that we would be very happy with the outcomeHe was correctHis partner was also very good, but do not recall his name There was enough correct product to not further delay the process, by the time they removed and insulated the whole house, that allowed enough time for the company to deliver the other half in the correct colour Replacement of Downspouts to match siding: We had our downspouts replaced as well, they ended up sending another roofing team to replace downspouts - they didn't seem like they knew what they were doing, downspouts only is not very technical so all finished well It was a larger residential job, so it involved different divisions of the company - which may explain some of the miscommunication in speaking with different managersOverall they did honour their costs and commitment to all three projectsFor that I am thankful Total Cost in Greater Edmonton: ~$32,for a house worth about $479, = 6.6% of the value of a SF Single Family Split-Level Home
