Review: Prior to the Affordable Care Act, I was without health insurance. I applied for the California Vision grant for a free vision exam since my eyeglass prescription was three years outdated. I acknowledge and am grateful for [redacted]'s generosity in donating her time to the organization to offer free vision exams. However, her lack of correspondence, lack of professionalism, and antagonizing behavior towards me is unacceptable. The ordeal began with poor communication and a two-month delay in delivering trial contact lenses for the fitting exam. It escalated to an absolute refusal to accommodate my request for a proper fitting/change in prescription brand. I needed a prescription verification for [redacted] and [redacted] would not provide a reason for the denial.I called to ask for the reason, and today, I was banned as a patient from the office. The reason is because I wrote an honest [redacted] review detailing my experiences (link: [redacted]). When I spoke to [redacted], the [redacted] review was the first thing she asked about. She proceeded to claim a breach of trust with the review and said that I was no longer welcome at her office. Although she reasoned that she could change my contact lens prescription brand with a proper fitting exam, she refuses to see me as a patient. I paid $70 for a fitting exam. I did not receive proper service for the payment, nor did I receive any follow-up exams after receiving the trial lenses. In addition, the expiration date on my CLRx prescription is incorrect. Under the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act, prescribers must set a date of 1 year or longer from the date that the prescription is issued, unless documented in a patient's medical records as to why a shorter date is warranted. [redacted] issued a prescription with an expiration date of 01/17/15, and did not explain to me why the shorter date was warranted. My prescription was issued on 03/17/14.Desired Settlement: I tried to request a change to the contact lens prescription brand. Since [redacted] is refusing me as a patient to properly prescribe a change, I kindly request a refund in the amount of $70.00. I paid for a contact lens fitting and exam. This service should have included a proper fitting and a follow-up exam to make sure that the prescribed lenses were not damaging or irritating my eye before issuing the prescription. The service was not fulfilled. I am respectfully asking for a refund.
