When we moved into our home years ago we provided a deposit to have services turned onIn those ten years, there were times that our bill was paid late because our checks came in after the due date BUT we have paid the late fees, we are not on government assistance, and no one else pays our bills for usNow, after all this time they have requested an additional $deposit and if it is not paid they will disconnect our servicesSo, taking more money out of our pocket is going to help us? No, it is a scamWe might get it back in YRSThings happen, life happens but we are punished for not taking tax payers money and we can't do anything about itFor anyone looking to buy a home in the area, I recommend you find something outside of the Upshur Rural Electric area

I have been living in my home in North Longview (Pleasant Hill area) for about yearsI desperately wish I could change my electric serviceAny time it rains the lights goes outAny time the wind blows, the lights go outAny little unfavorable weathers makes the lights go out and I am so tired of itTHe worse part of it is that it takes them FOREVER to get the lights onI dont understand why people in other parts of Longview get the privilege of having a stronger electric services and we dontI've heard many other people in my neighborhood complain about this problemI hope this review causes URECC to reevaluate their system and make some drastic changes

A horrible companyThey do anything and everything to bleed you dryLast month we got a notice saying they were going to add $to our deposit if we were late again, keep in mind, they required a $deposit to open an account, but if you call and ask for an extension for just a few days, like til payday, they won't give it to youTheir "budget billing" is the biggest joke I've ever heard ofOur average for a month period was roughly $They require $a monthAn extra $a year! And no, I didn't do the math incorrectly, they purposely add on to your bill every month if you sign up for the budget billing option How they have obtained an A+ rating baffles me

They are HORRIBLE!! Very high energy costs and very unreliable power. It will go out for absolutely no reason at all and they are completely indifferent to when it comes on! Do your best to avoid any business relationship with this company.

Upshur rural is a monopolizing business in a rural area that unfortunately has no other competition. I long for the days when we had another options. Because of this Upshur rural scams it's customers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. Their rates fluctuate at an absurd rate. Forget about customer service. Their employees are stuck up and rude. For anyone wanting to move into an Upshur rural monopolized area, think twice before you do. Your electric bill will be another car payment or house payment when these people get done with you.
