Hariom TV Repair Reviews (1)

On 4/12/16 I brought a friends $100 deposit in cash and Magnavox TV/VCR/DVD Player combo unit to [redacted] at the Hariom storefront for him to repair the non-working DVD & VHS Player and correct the problem with it having a white screen until the TV had warmed up. I made phone contact with him on 4/12, 4/19, 4/29, 5/2, and 5/12 (he never contacted me about the repair progress at any time) and each time was told it wasn't ready. On 5/24 he tried to sell me a TV for $275 because he said he couldn't find the parts required to repair this model, but my friend was not interested-he wanted his TV back (and Bill had stated that the white screen problem was fixed). Today (5/25/16) I arrived at the store to pick up the TV and he hands me a bill for an additional $125 for "labor" and replacing a belt in the VCR (which still doesn't work). That makes $225 for an adjustment to the TV, a part that was installed and fixed nothing, and a "technician" who evidently does this as a way to make money. The store contains at least 20 TV's sitting around that he has evidently stolen from people by using the "surprise" method of billing to claim that they won't pay for his work. He then tries to sell them (like the one he offered to me) instead of doing the customer's repair. In auto repair they can't go over a certain percentage of the bill without letting the customer know. This "technician" never lets a customer know what he is doing or how much it costs until it is too late to get your product back, he just claims it as his! Depending on what my friend decides (he just returned from the Honor Flight Nevada trip to Washington DC and has not been notified by me of the situation as of yet), it may require litigation since the police can do nothing about a civil matter like the theft of property and money by a business in this case, but until then the public needs to know about this fraudster. Consumer fraud like this (hidden charges and deceptive business practices) needs to be publicized.Product_Or_Service: TV RepairDesired SettlementIf the TV white screen problem is actually repaired (with the surprise bill I did not have the opportunity to see if anything had actually been done), the $100 my friend has given for the deposit would probably be worthwhile-the return of the property would settle the problem. If the repair has not even been done to that stage, nothing short of a lawsuit is acceptable to rectify this case of consumer fraud.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: 775-423-0327Contact Email: [redacted] Dropped the TV off on 4/12/16. He called, and said he has a TV DVD/VCR combo that he would like to get repaired. I suggested he buy a new TV instead because this TV was older, and the labor would outweigh the cost of the TV. He insisted on getting the TV fixed. I told him a $100.00 deposit is required to run a diagnosis on the TV. [redacted] agreed, and dropped off the TV with the deposit. After I checked the TV, I came to the conclusion that it needed a new VCR mechanism with video head. The DVD player required a laser cartridge. A whole mechanism and cartridge was required to fix the VCR and DVD. The parts were not available so I presented the customer with an option. [redacted] required a TV with a VCR/DVD combo and I had a similar TV available, but a different company. He had an interest in that TV so I sent him some pictures of it through text. [redacted] then asked if I could fix just the screen problem of the TV which was the screen having a white line. I fixed that problem and put the TV back together. He came to pick up the TV, I showed him that the picture was fixed. I told him the total cost was $125.00 including the deposit, so total $25.00 not an extra $100.00. That was it, he told me he was going to the authorities, and accused me of consumer fraud. $225.00 was never the total he was mistaken in thinking I added an extra $100.00, which was the deposit. I will gladly return the fixed TV the balance on the account is $25.00. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)6/25/16 Since no reply had been made by Hariom to the Revdex.com complaint, I sent the following text to [redacted] cell phone at 2 AM "Just a reminder-the TV in our dispute is neither abandoned or unclaimed but evidence to be held in the ongoing consumer fraud complaint lodged against you with the Revdex.com (where you have failed to respond or accept mediation). It is not your property, even according to the limited terms printed on your receipt.-Sent From [redacted]'s Phone-Sent From [redacted]'s Phone @TW Solutions Co." After checking the Revdex.com website at 9:30 AM, the activity showed this...6/25/2016 Receive Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: 775-423-0327Contact Email: [redacted] Dropped the TV off on 4/12/16. When I arrived there at 11:40 he still wasn't there, and when I texted him again he said he was on his way. After an additional 5 minutes he showed up, I paid him the additional $25 after he assured me the white balance problem was taken care of, and took the TV to my friend's home. The TV still has a white screen on turn-on, although it persists for a shorter period of time. The top 3 inches of the screen now has the red gun misaligned so that it bleeds to the right all the way across. I see no result from all this activity, and my friend is trying to find another technician to repair the TV-being over 70 years old he was just happy to pay the ransom and get his TV back from the business that couldn't do the job right.7/7/164:30 AM-Posted the information above on the Revdex.com website.
