Please refer to the original complaint submitted by me-nothing has been resolved.  The contractor is not addressing the issue.  His advertisements in the newspaper state all work guaranteed.
To Heils response, first of all he did my complete driveway 2 years ago not 3. (6-8-12)  As far as the sealcoat lasting forever, to me forever is longer than 6 months.  When I had my previous driveway sealcoated by Krause Blacktop approximately 25 years ago, it lasted for 5 years.  Any person in this business knows it should last more than 6 months.  He should return everyone's money if that is all it lasts.  I remember him telling me prior to applying the sealcoat, he uses the best sealcoat available.  If that's the case,  whoever makes that sealer should be out of business.  I would be happy to send you a copy of his ad in the paper stating all work guaranteed.  I don't know anyone who sealcoats their driveway every year.
When he called me in April 2014, he stated that there were 3 other driveways with the same problem.  I wonder if he just let them hang also.
My next step will be to submit a complaint to the WI Dept of Agriculture.  This just isn't right.  I trusted him to do the job and now he just doesn't seem to care.  If $300 is worth all of this to him so be it; but as far as I'm concerned, he just stole $300 from me.

Consumer only called business one time, in September, to report that seal coat was 75% gone.  He hadn't heard back from business.

Review: Last year I had this business redo my blacktop driveway. My husband and I were unsatisfied with the results. [redacted] (the owner) said that he would take care of it next year and seal coat our driveway for free because of the issues. The issues were a sink hole created around the concrete walls that were done and [redacted] recommended the person for the concrete. Another sink hole in the driveway and the driveway itself didn't seem smooth (had what I would call divits). [redacted] said that the sealing coating would take care of that issue. As of today, August 3rd, 2015, the sink hole around the concrete wall was just cut away and refilled last week. I have been calling this company since May 6, 2015, to get this resolved.Desired Settlement: Fix the other sink hole and seal coat the entire driveway.

Business

Response:

Business states they were there on Saturday to finish the job, but were unable to because of a vehicle in the driveway. He states the seal coating will be done by Friday, 8/7/15.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Thanks for returning my call. I have a few questions. First I would like to respond to the message from H&H - am I able to do that or just "accept" his response. Secondly before I got his response, he called on Tuesday, August 4, and his employees showed up within 15 minutes of his call. We discussed with the employees the sink hole and how they were going to fix it. We were not happy with the way they were going to fix it because within a year or two we would have an issue. So we just let them seal coat the driveway. I am still not happy with this company but I DON'T want to deal with them.

Review: H&H Asphalt did not install my driveway properly on 8/7/2014, and they are not honoring their one year warranty.

Water pools at the base of my driveway after a rainfall. So in the fall of 2014 I telephoned the office of H&H to explain the problem and get it corrected since we were concerned about problems with freezing during the winter. The gentleman I spoke with at the office phone number stated that freezing will not be a problem because asphalt is black and retains the heat from the sun. I explained our drive is shaded with trees and would like it repaired. He did not want to address the issue and said to wait until summer since I had a year warranty.

Then on or about 6/1/2015, I contacted the H&H office again and restated my concern that water was collecting at the end of our driveway. I was told that when H&H was in the area they would correct the problem. On 6/14/2015 I had not heard from H&H and sent them a letter reminding them of my issue.

I tried calling H&H one more time. On that occasion I was asked to hold and then disconnected.Desired Settlement: Remove the last 15 yards of my drive, and replace the gravel and asphalt to achieve the proper slope in order to properly drain my driveway.

Review: I hired H&H Asphalt to excavated the existing drive, lay a stone base and 2 layers of asphalt for a sum of $18,500. They were to widen the parking lot to the landmarks we discussed which were to the tree and the front of the trailer. The trailer had to be moved to do the drive and I had the tree cut down because he was afraid the asphalt would kill it. The drive and lot was complete, not everything to satisfaction, but also was not expanded, The cars are still parked under the wires above and it is still difficult to back out without a lot of back and forth for some cars parked behind the two buildings. The head guy on the job even said he was painting the parking lines much shorter than he normally does. [redacted] is the person that recommended H&H to me. He works for Family Seal who refers customers to other companies for a finders fee when the job is too big for them. When [redacted] saw the finished product, he also said that they didn't expand the drive and that the tree was the agreed upon spot. Even though that's where we talked about the asphalt being extended to, I didn't catch it when Henry Jr. marked it on the contract that they would expand the lot by 2 1/2 to 3 feet. So after we waited the 5 days to park on the lot, I called them and complained to Henry Sr. for the second time that the drive needed to be expanded. He said that it had been by 3 1/2 feet and then another foot of only one layer when I complained the first time before completion. If that was the case, cars would never have been able to park in the lot, it would have been too close to the buildings. He was belligerent on the phone and very uncooperative.. He said to add seven feet, would cost an additional $1500.00 beyond the $19,200 I had already paid which was already above contract price because of an addition to the walks. Because I need seven more feet, which was what I had already paid for and agreed upon verbally, however, in the contract was written that it would be expanded by 3 ft., I agreed to pay an additional $750.00. Half of the cost, just to get the job completed and keep this from taking any more of my time without going to the Revdex.com and to court. He said he wouldn't do it. So here we are.Desired Settlement: The lot needs to be expanded to the tree stump, which is an additional seven feet. They will have to lay stone pass the tree stump to keep the stone underneath the asphalt stable and they will have to tack to the lot already laid and seal over the line of the new two layers to the existing asphalt. I had agreed to pay $750.00, a compromise between what he wrote and what we agreed upon, with [redacted], his peer, as a witness, only as a settlement as to not take up any more of my time. This is no longer the case. I have paid for it to be expanded and now it has taken weeks longer than the job should have.

Review: This company paved my new driveway, have concerns regarding the thickness in some areas, uneven, and a couple holes. Spoke with owner on phone and conversation escalated very quickly, he was yelling and would not listen to my concerns. I have been calling weekly for the last six weeks, and I always get some excuse. Finally they came for an inspection, and it was agreed that they would repair.Back to unanswered phone calls! Now its too cold for any repair before winter, and the problems will get worse.Desired Settlement: Upon repair completion, I feel I am entitled for partial reimbursement

Review: Two layers of asphalt laid down on may 20 2014, weeks later the blacktop started deteriorating, [redacted] notified, his son came out in sept. of 2014 to put down a so called tact coat (1/2 inch thick) over the deteriorating surface, now 7 Months later the 3rd layer tact coat is also deteriorating, pealing up, [redacted] refuses to come and fix it. his guarantee was for 1 yr. But he will not come to my house to repair or replace as in his guarantee, he says three coats are good without coming to see whats going on. there is a small area about 6 ft. long of edge that a fuel truck damaged that I would pay for to fix.Desired Settlement: repair or replace and extend the guarantee from time of repair.

Review: Called Aug 2013 to have driveway seal coated. He stated he would probably get there the following week. Called him back Sept 26,2013, said they were too busy to do it. They seal coated my driveway Oct 25, 2013; the temp that day was 42 degrees. That night 31 degrees. On Oct 26, 2013, driveway wasn't dry yet and the sealer was already cracking. I called him on Oct 28, 2013, to notify him of what was happening with the sealer. He said he didn't know what I was talking about, he would not bother coming over to look it. I called him again on Nov 12, 2013, and wanted him to come over to look at it and he was too busy again. I called him later in Nov 2013 and he was still too busy. He always has an excuse. In spring 6 months after it was done, 95% of the sealer was off of the driveway. I called April.2014, and told him about it. A few days later, I was out in my garage, he drove by and stopped at the end of my driveway, and drove off. About a minute later, he called and said I had a free seal job coming. He said he didn't know if it was the sealer or what happened. He also said he had 3 others with the same problem so don't feel bad. I waited all summer long and my driveway at present is still not done. I called him on 9-19-2014 and told him that I waited all summer to have this redone and I would like to have it done that following week. I felt that I was more than patient. I told him that if it wasn't done on the following week that I was going to report him to the Revdex.com. Before I could finish my conversation, he said ok Mr Smartmouth Im not going to do it and he hung up on me . I paid him $300 cash in full on completion Oct 25, 2013. I do have a paid receipt in my possession. He advertises all work guaranteed.Desired Settlement: I don't want anything to do with a business person like this. I cant trust him. I just want my money back and I'll sealcoat my driveway on my own. I feel a professional business person would have handled this right away. He wants his money but doesn't want to stand behind his workmanship. Customer service should be number one.
