I did enter into a contract with client. He spent multiple hours in our showroom along with multiple family members and HELD materials that he chose.. Upon receiving deposit we scheduled a template for the job and explained to him that this... was the start of the job. We tempated multiple vanities in his home , the drive alone was almost an hour from our shop with traffic. It is unfortunate he had to cancel because of a financial situation but should have thought about it before leaving a deposit. I returned his deposit without a dispute. I told him the charge was 450 but we both agreed on 300 dollars . For him to file a complaint for the whole amount , and think that this is a free service is ridiculous. Thanks for your attention to this matter

I am rejecting this response because:
The yardstick for fixing $300 for template is not justified. The terms are not in the contract. It's an abstract estimate.
I have seen service agency charging around $125 for a daignostic visit. I shall accept this charge. Not more.

Review: I entered into a contract with Granite Surfaces for installing vanity tops at my home and I had paid 50% advance, $1,336.50. Owing to unforeseen family circumstances I could not proceed with the completion of the contract as I had more pressing financial issues that prevented me from going further with the contract. The contractor visited my home for taking measurements to do the job. They may have spent about an hour doing that job. The contract does not contain any cancellation clause and did not contain the charges for taking measurements. When I spoke to them about cancellation they said that they were going to deduct $300 towards measurement charges. With a view to getting the money back I could not talk to them much about the contract being silent about cancellation and charges for measurements.

I would want to get the full refund as I had other unforeseen financial commitments.
