G & A Appliance Service, Inc. Reviews (11)

G&A Appliance has no further explanation for Mr. [redacted] at this time. As we previously explained we have no history showing repairs being completed to the freezer section. We have provided service history to the customer in the previous response and we apologize for the our late response.

+1

B&B Appliance referred this customer to G&A in 7/29/2004 and G&A installed a compressor and control for the refrigerator section. Also, on 5/8/2014 G&A replaced missing screws that were missing out of the freezer section drain pan and cleaned the condensers. 12-9-14 the customer...

scheduled service for defrosting and cooling issues in his freezer section. G&A sent [redacted] the companies only refrigeration technician to diagnose and give an estimate for repair costs. These are the only service calls we have done at the customers request. We have been told the customer has had Guaranteed Appliance and Authorized Appliance working on this unit as well. We have tried to explain to the customer that it was not G&A working on his freezer and he refused to listen. We recommend that the customer contacts the other service companies.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. G & A IS the company who worked on my freezer. The other companies worked on the freezer in PREVIOUS YEARS. At this point I request an apology for the conduct of his employee and a refund of the service call fees as I have hired another company to do the repairs. THE COMPLAINT STANDS AS I REPORTED despite what his records show.

To whom it may concern,

Please refer to attached documentation regarding this service. As a service company we feel that we have done our part and followed through on the customers concerns. We completed service on the original complaint and after the repair...

we were 100% confident that the unit was properly functioning before leaving the customer home. In Arizona, having a unit in the garage will shorten the life on the unit and will cause many issues to occur, when they occur we can not predict. In this case that is what happened. Our tech did access the concern and determined it was not related to the initial repair completed.

At this time G&A Appliance will not be

able to refund the requested amount. The following explanation reflects the

service to indicate no wrongful or indirect info during this service

appointment.  Per our technician [redacted] the following information was given

and mutual at the time of service. Customer indicated the unit remains in the

garage and had iced up on the back and not cooling. [redacted] checked the

refrigerator and found that the defrost terminator was bad. He then checked the

defrost heater and timer and found both to be operating properly. [redacted] then

advised the customer on the cost of the repair to replace the terminator. [redacted]

then waited as the customer called around to price out new refrigerator's

before making his decision for the repair. Customer then determined it would

cost twice as much to replace and asked if we would guarantee the repair. [redacted]

advised the customer on our policies explaining that we guarantee one year on

the parts G&A replaces and the labor is guaranteed for ninety days.

Customer then agreed to complete the repair. [redacted] returned approximately one week later

and replaced the terminator, the unit ran thru a defrost cycle and the defrost

cycle operated properly while [redacted] was there. The unit started cooling after

the defrost cycle at that time. The customer called back approximately one hour

later and said the unit is not cooling and everything melted, at that time [redacted]

returned to the home and rechecked the unit. The defrost components operated

properly and also found the compressor not running, [redacted] then checked the

compressor windings with his OHM Meter and it was showing the compressor was

getting the correct readings for power. The units start devices failed probably due

to excessive heat from being in the garage, it was at the peak of summer

temperatures. [redacted] also found the plastic in the freezer melted. Advised the

customer that failure was a different problem and if they want to fix it

G&A would repair it for the cost of parts. The customer declined the new

repair and demanded a refund; [redacted] advised he could not refund their money.

[redacted] asked the customer why they waited a month to call back, customer said

they were gone when it stopped working. They said their son checked the unit a

few days later and the refrigerator was not working. [redacted] then asked if it was

checked before that and they had no response. [redacted] explained that G&A cannot

be liable for other parts that fail or other circumstances that happen and

G&A can only guarantee parts that are changed by G&A and can only

replace those parts under the warranty and are not responsible for damages that

occur by other failed parts.

When the serviceman arrived I inquired "Is this unit worth fixing?". He responded that It was. His bill amounted $369.70. We were obligated to buy a similar unit for $441 to replace the damaged refrigerator. A difference $71.30. When the service man departed he assured it would cool in 8 or9 hours. It was not cooling when he left. We do not believe the unit ever cooled, over heating and melting the interior. MIs diagnosed and misrepresented the repair value.

Review: I called G&A Appliance out to repair my Sub Zero freezer as they have been out several times to repair it within the last year. I informed the tech when he arrived that they had been out several times to repair it and it still does not work right.

With out looking he said it would take $2000.00-$3000.00 to repair right. He took the vent off the top and said right away what a mess inside here. He called his office to get a history on the repairs and said B&B Appliance worked on it and it was a mess. They said they replaced the compressor on the refrigerator in July but did not work on the freezer.. Every tech they sent out worked on the freezer NOT the refrigerator. B&B has not worked on this unit in serveral years since they do not work on Sub Zero unit any more. The tech was getting testy with me saying I started it by telling him G&A had been out several times to repair it and it was not right yet.. I have had 4 techs out within the last 6 months from G&A to remedy the situation on the FREEZER, ( 2 at no charge) and it still doesn't work properly. The ONLY people to work on the unit have been G&A Appliance. The tech told me the unit was 20 years old and I should buy a new one, and I felt threatened when he told me he could condemn this unit. I called their office and told them that I didn't like the tech's attitude and I was throwing him out of my house. The owner said they replaced the compressor on the refrigerator not the freezer, but every tech that I had come out worked ONLY on the freezer. It has not been right yet. If they replaced the compressor on the refrigerator it is now wonder the freezer has not worked properly. The refrigerator has not been a problem, I have always called them out about the FREEZER.

Review: Paid the G&A Appliance Service to repair refrigerator $369.70 .. Repairman said would cool in 8 or 9 hours. We left town the next day. Discovered a few weeks later after return to town refrigerator had overheated and self distructed. Unpluged for fear of fire. Repair service refuses to refund repair payment and disclaims responsibility. We must now purchase new refrigerator.Desired Settlement: Refund of repair costs $369.70.
