My fiancé and I broke down the side road. A state trooper pulled up behind us and made us aware that we had to be moved to a safer location. He called a tow company and then left. My fiancé and I repeatedly asked the tow company how much their services would be, before and during the process of them picking up our vehicle. They only hold us to the nearest exit. Which was 5 1/2 miles away. When we got there, they handed us a bill of receipt which didn’t have any breakdown of the cost. It only had a number, $240, at the bottom. I am not the best at math, but that’s $40 a mile. Any other tow company would be $4 dollars per mile.
In response to this complaint about my business, Yes on 7/27/18 we was called out to I-77 to mile marker 14 for a broke down vehicle, what the complainant is leaving out is that broke down vehicle was a F350 truck pulling a gooseneck trailer with another f450 truck loaded on the trailer. We had to take two medium duty trucks and two men to do this job, the f350 that was broke down was loaded onto a rollback and then the gooseneck trailer and f450 that was loaded on the trailer was hooked to our f450 service truck to be towed. I'm sorry for the ignorance of this lady not knowing how much it cost to run a towing business but my trucks was not given to me and my trucks dose not run off air and my employees dose not work for free, she is only worried about a dollar sign not that we risk our life out there on the side of the road with vehicles traveling 70 mph inches from us or that we helped get her kids to a safe place other than stranded on the side of the road. This is a break down of what the charges was, each truck cost $80.00 per hour minimum a hour, $35 hook fee per truck, $4.00 per mile towing which comes to $48.00 for the two trucks and I could have charged her a en-route fee of $1.00 per mile per truck which would have been $20.00 because each truck traveled 10 miles to get to the broke down vehicle, so the total comes to $298.00 and I only charged them $240.00. We people that are in the towing business has to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars for trucks, equipment, insurance and man power to be in business if the ungrateful lady would like to go buy a 100k dollar rollback so she can tow her own vehicles and pay 15k dollars a year in insurance then she can be my guest and maybe a $240 tow wont sound so bad. I hope her kids made it home safe and I thank them for the business. Also I was told that the male and female that was broke down was her 18 year old daughter so that's not underage. If a heavy duty wrecker would have been called to come hook to the unit as one then she would have probably paid close to $400.00 for the tow. I would appreciate if this review of my business would not be posted because I did not gouge the customer I was well with in a reasonable price for the work that had to be done.Thank you,Full Throttle KustomsTyler Ogle (Owner)
My underage daughter was stranded in ***, this company was called to tow her and towed her 6 miles and charged $240.00 during regular business hours. Basically price gouging a vulnerable frightened consumer. I called the owner and he basically laughed.
