December 10, 2015Dear [redacted] ***,My name is Jim F [redacted] and I am the owner and president of Forbes Associates, LLC. We are a licensed Home Remodeling contractor authorized to conduct business... in the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I am writing in response to a complaint the BBB received from a Home Owner about me and my company dated November 5, 2015 at 12:00am.This is the first time I have ever had to write a response to anyone regarding a complaint about our company, my work ethic, my credibility and the men and women who work with me. I was completely and utterly shocked when read the remarks made by this Home Owner. I worked with this Home Owner and her Architect since April, 2015 till August, 2015 and never once during this time did the Home Owner ever give me the impression or did she ever communicate to me such unhappiness and displeasure with our work. It was only after she received our bill for changes and extras then she started to complain. We completed this project on Time and within budget, and as per the specifications written by the Architect. We had a total of eleven (11) documented inspections by local Township Building Inspectors and we passed every one of those inspections. We had four meeting with the Architect through the course of this project to discuss several on-site changes, structure details and finish schedules and never once did the Architect complain or question the quality of our work. I meet with the Home owner daily to answer her questions and too up-date her on progress. We even granted her permission to move her mother in two weeks early because of a death in her family. At the close out of this project I received two (2) Punch List of items to be completed; The first punch list issued by the Home Owner and a second punch list was issued a week later by the Architect. We successfully completed all the items outlined on both lists, and at the completion of this work we issued the Home Owner a One Year Warranty for our workmanship. (see attached) The Home Owner owes us $3,545.00 for changes and additions she made to this project, instead of negotiating with me to resolve this, she has elected to write a nasty letter slandering me and purposely trying to discredit me, my company and the men and women who work with me. I am saddened by her remarks and her account of this project. I have attached promotional material about our company outlining the services we provide and examples of our work. I also attached a copy of our contract, final billing statement and a copy of our one-year warranty for this project. Please treat this material as confidential and should not be disclosed or shared to third parties. I understand negative remarks such as this is very damaging to us as a small business owner and we take this very seriously. Yes, we make mistakes. Yes, things happen during a course of a project that we sometimes cannot control. but what is important to me is how we handle and respond to those problems or complaints. We must be professional and understating with the utmost respect. We also must take corrective measures and implement changes and procedures so not to repeat them and that's how we conduct our ourselves in business and in life. I am very sorry this Home Owner made such remarks about me, my company and my team. We constructed a solid and well-built addition to her property in accordance to the terms, conditions and specifications and we are very proud of this work. I am available to answer any questions you may have or provide any additional information to resolve this complaint. Please contact me at the number and email address listed above.
