I was hired to replace the flooring in the kitchen due to a water leak that occurred in the condominium complex approximately months priorI had done previous kitchen work for a family member of the customer and it was upon their recommendation that she hire me to complete the work in her kitchen I was advised that Service Master had been in to rectify the mess, however there is water damage to the sub-floor on her (second) level condoThis caused swelling of the wood so that in one corner section of the far right wall adjacent to the stove one tile is raised 1/of an inchThe only way to rectify this is to remove all of the flooring, cabinetry, etc in her kitchen down to the joists and replace the sub-floorThis was explained to the customer during our initial consultationOnce the new ceramic tile was laid, I advised the customer not to walk on the tiles for a set amount of time so the flooring could adhereShe did not comply and when she walked on the tile, multiple pieces became looseShe texted me the following morning and wanted to know why the tiles were loseI re-did the flooring work, at no additional cost to the customer In addition to the flooring, she requested cabinetry work, painting, drywall, new lighting and installation of new appliances, including a dishwasherA tile of her chose was installed and no charge of $ [redacted] for the materials were charged to the clientI installed the dishwasher plumbing and set the brackets in place with construction adhesive so the granite installer could then drill into the granite for proper installationThis was explained to the customer and again she was advised not to use it until it had time to dryI have in writing that she has had someone re-install the dishwasher as I was not permitted back in the homeOnce the flooring was completed, the refrigerator had to be moved back into the kitchenThe fridge was heavy due to the large amount of items inside so I did remove some items so it could be moved without damaging the new tile floor Once a job is complete, I insist on a walk through to ensure that the customer is pleased with the workThis customer refused the walk through stating that she just wanted me out of her homeThe original estimate for the project was $***The customer disputed the amount based on her dissatisfaction with my workI offered on multiple occasions (via text and email correspondence) to meet with her to discuss what she was not satisfied with and she refusedAs a concession, I reduced the amount owed to $*** The customer mailed me a check in the amount of $ [redacted] and in a text on 12/10/17, the customer stated that she "Hoped you got the check and have closed the project." After days after payment was received, the customer sent multiple texts and emails from her work email address stating that she was not pleased with the work and wanted a refund of $***, on top of the $ [redacted] reduction she had previously agreed uponOnce again, I offered to meet with her and any work she was not satisfied withShe refused but continued to send emails requesting the $ [redacted] refundI responded that I would offer a $ [redacted] refund, in addition to the $ [redacted] reduction made prior to her payment and she responded in writing that “If your conscience will allow you to do that, then fine.” I did send her a check for $ [redacted] and advised in writing that this was my final refund amount and that once cashed, I would once again consider the job closedThe customer has not cashed the checkA $ [redacted] job has now been reduced to $***not including the $ [redacted] in tile that was not charged to her.This is the first negative feedback I have received from any customer without satisfaction after 100+ jobsMany of these customers have had complete kitchen remodels, much more extensive than this jobI can provide written letters of reference from multiple satisfied customers if requestedKevin C***
