F H Furr Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning Inc Reviews (43)

My gas hot water heater began leaking over a weekend. I am a preferred customer (paid for this plan) and could not get a serviceman out until the weekday.
The price quoted for a new hot water heater, pressure valve, drain pain, etc. was nearly $3600. With my preferred customer discount, the price came down to approximately $3100.
I used a service to find a plumber and EVERY other plumber quoted this exact same job for around $2000. I hired one, got the job done and am completely satisfied.
FH Furr could not tell me the price of parts vs the price of labor. They quote the job only. They tried to tell me the water heater alone was more than the total cost by all the other plumbers.
If you like giving your money away, then use this company.

Excellent service provided by paul.

great job! fast and complete.

Prompt scheduling, arrived on time, outstanding diagnostic, explanation of the problem and repair to my heating system. Juan B is a top notch tech.

First rate service provided by F.H. Furr technician Jimmy C[redacted]. Very thorough and helpful.

Review: Purchased a Trane Heating & AC system from FH Furr in [redacted], VA, and it was installed on 29 October 2010. The warranty/terms of the contract included 5 years on all labor, as well as 10 years on parts, 12 years on compressor, and 20 years on heat exchanger. In summer of 2012, we found the air conditioning unit was louder than in the past, so we contacted FH Furr to check it out. On 2 July 2012, a FH Furr technician came out and found all the readings to be within specifications, but the "compressor is noisier than expected". He added that he would turn that information over to a Trane representative. Obviously, the noise didn't reduce, but seemed to get louder as time passed, so in September we asked FH Furr to come out and check again. On 10 September 2012, a FH Furr technician came out and mentioned he would try to find a compressor noise reduction blanket, else found all readings to be within specifications. We never heard anything more about the blanket. As to the noise, we were concerned that there was a problem unbeknownst to the technician that would not get addressed until after warranty expires. It seems to us that the noise was getting louder from the unit, which should alert to a problem. Wife shared with the technician that she wanted Trane to send someone out to check the unit and get their opinion. Believe technician thought wife would call Trane, and wife thought the technician would call Trane, but nothing else happened in 2012, especially since the cooler months were soon upon us. As soon as the heat rose in 2013, we noticed the noise from the AC unit again, and contacted FH Furr. They sent someone out on 7 June 2013. The technician shared that all the readings were within specifications, and that perhaps the noise we were hearing was a result of higher demands on the system (when it operates in second stage). He then added that we should buy an upgraded contract, because they would start charging us for coming out when they find all readings within specs "no problem". So, this obviously begins to look like a ploy to get more money out of the customer. We already have a warranty for 5 years of free labor. NO conditions/limitations were attached to that warranty. How does a customer know if noise is a potential problem or an actual problem? Do you just wait and HOPE that it is okay? Further, do you wait until it breaks to call a technician, only to hear them possibly say, “well if you would have contacted us sooner ..”Desired Settlement: The desired outcome is threefold. First, we would like a Trane representative (not FH Furr) to come and listen to the unit and giver their honest opinion regarding the noise of the compressor (AC unit) and without cost to us. Secondly, we want FH Furr to honor their agreement with us that we have 5 years of free labor, not 5 years of free labor at their discretion. Third, we would like the noise reduced, if possible.

I had technician Paul R[redacted] at my place for the yearly heating check. He was very knowledgeable and gave me good information.

VERY PROFESSIONAL , KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COURTEOUS

Juan Ba[redacted] did a fine job with my annual heating/cooling system check up.

Outstanding annual heating system inspection visit. Paul arrived promptly, inspected the system and replaced all my filters with replacements he brought with him. He was courteous and prepared for MY system and went about his business in a professional and business like manner.

Had an easy HVAC maintenance visit today. The technician was very friendly. I appreciate that FH Furr will call you for a heads up like 30 min before the tech. is available so you don't have to wait around all day.

F H Furr came to my house today to perform our 6 month inspection of the furnace and AC unit. Lorenzo Lane was the technician assigned. To start, he arrived when the operator scheduled my appointment. Lorenzo was a very knowledgeable technician and answered my questions as he inspected our heating unit. I was very pleased with him.
I am very pleased with the way FH Furr keeps their clients informed during this process.

Very professional and friendly. I appreciated the heads up call before he arrived.

Paul R. is the Comfort Tech who performed my heat pump's winter check today. He arrived within the time frame promised by F.H. Furr. He was quick and thorough with his inspection and I received my service report via email within minutes of the completion of the service. I had a question concerning the operation of my heat pump. Paul was honest and indicated that my question was above the level of his expertise. He told me that he would inform his service manager and that I should receive a call from the manager within a couple of days. He also gave me the manager's contact info.

Review: We had work done by FH Furr, work is not completed, we cannot get anyone to repair the problem. After calling numerous people including the salesman, his boss and then his boss no one has returned our call.Desired Settlement: We would like to have the work completed and have someone call us to let us know that this is going to be done. I spoke with customer service today they have the work as done. The work is not done. They have scheduled an appointment on Monday, November 25, 2013. Hopefully someone will show up and complete this for us. We are both in our 70's, people just take advantage of older people.

Recent service from FH Furr is negative. Company was hired to clean the furnace, based on recommendation from a home inspector. The technician arrived and stated there was an issue with the furnace (blockage within the heating system) and stated the furnace needed to be replaced. Even though the technician was told a home inspector did not detect an issue days ago, he cut the system off and stated he detected a hazard and by law he had to take action. The technician also stated the home inspector was not an expert detecting these issues and/or the home inspector was not a good one. I felt the technician was trying to make money off of the situation, since the condo was being sold. A second opinion was obtained and the new technician concurred with the home inspector, stating the unit had no stoppages, nothing was broken, it is old and operable and needed to be cleaned.

Juan B[redacted] provided expedient and excellent service during the check of my heating system.

Review: FH FURR visited my home on a service call for my HVAC system. Provided service and I paid via check and sign a document I believed to be "just" receipt of service agreement but turned out to be self renew "ACCESS TO MY CHECKING ACCOUNT."

The service said nothing just explained the document as receipt of service and "NEVER" said anything about service agreement. This is completely deceptive and misleading.

How does a consumer work with these companies when everything they do is built to hide the truth, we feel like there is zero protection for the everyday people.Desired Settlement: Lower the Revdex.com rating, it does not truly represent the level of trust within the community.

Response:

I have refunded the customer the money in dispute. I am including three documents.1.Voided check for annual debit2.Contract authorizing annual debit.3.E-mail dated May 23rd advising we are refunding $190.80 and sent copy of service agreement.

Mr. B[redacted] did a terrific job - he is highly professional, and gave me plenty of information about the process and results of the job. I particularly appreciated Mr. B[redacted] discovery of a serious problem with my aging water heater, and his assistance in scheduling a plumber for the next day. That's above and beyond the HVAC maintenance check Mr. B[redacted] was here to perform, and so much appreciated!

Jimmy C[redacted] was my technician -- fast, helpful, and he didn't charge me for unnecessary things. He made the experience quick and pleasant.
