Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/03/03) */
EZ Home Solutions spoke to the HomeownerAfter our representative went to the home and did a complete property inspection on 2/26/14, we found damage to the shingles on the roof from the windThis is not a warranty issue, however, due
to the fact that the Homeowner had considerable trouble getting in touch with us because we relocated our office, and in turn changed our local telephone number, we've come to a mutual agreeable solutionAt no cost to the homeowner, EZ Home Solutions will make the repairs to the roof, as well as spot repairs to the interior water damageThe Homeowner agrees this is a great end result

First, I can't recommend EZ Home Solutions enough for any level of remodeling you might be doing. We have used EZ Home several times over the last couple years to complete various projects at our home. We continue to come back to them because they are knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. They never take up more of our time than necessary, but always make sure that we are well informed; whether it’s about the time frame of the project or even just to make sure that we know the staff that will be handling our job. We enjoy working with a company that truly takes pride in the QUALITY of work they put out, and NOT the quantity. We don’t trust just anyone with our home and are glad that we’ve been able to build this lasting relationship with EZ Home. It makes any kind of renovation much less stressful. We’ve even referred them to our friends and family; and several of them have used EZ Home to complete projects at their home and have enjoyed the same great experience as we do.

I have finally found a contractor that does what is needed and has a fair price for outstanding work.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/19) */
To Whom It May Concern,
EZ Home Solutions has received the complaint regarding work being done at the home of [redacted] at [redacted]'s first concern is that we did not pull permits or hire licensed...

subcontractors. It's not required to pull a permit in the state of Minnesota for tile and paint work. You do, however, need to pull a permit for plumbing work. The licensed plumber that we hired did pull a permit for the plumbing work. Her second concern is that we neglected to schedule a plumber to be on the job site after we removed the tub and sink. We did have our plumber scheduled to be onsite, but he was running behind on another job and had to delay us; this obviously wasn't our fault, but a scheduling issue on the part of our plumber. She also states that no inspections have been completed. Once the work is 100% complete we can request an inspection; the work is not finished yet. Also, the sink we ordered, arrived from shipment broken, we immediately reordered another sink to replace the broken one. Again this was something out of our control, but was immediately addressed to minimize any delays. She also states that she was with a bathroom for 10 days and with a toilet for 2 days. This timeline was made clear to her at the preconstruction meeting. In fact, she stated that she was going to be using her neighbor's bathroom during the remodel. Her third concern is that fact that the deadlines were not being met and that we didn't start on time. Originally, [redacted] wanted us to start around Thanksgiving and finish before Christmas. We decided since the construction process can be messy and stressful, to not start the project until after the holidays. [redacted] also made a Change to the Scope of Work part way through the project, which did cause a slight delay.
During construction of an older home, you will run into unforeseen issues that will often cause a delay in the schedule, which is no one's fault just a chance you take in renovating an older home. We did run into a problem with the tile work; [redacted] was not pleased with how it looked, and it was not up to our standards, so we ripped out all the tile, and started over. As of today, the work is not yet complete for this project. We still need to move the radiator which is on our schedule. If there is a concern with the work that has already been completed, we would like to opportunity to fix that. We stand behind our work and want to make sure that the customer is happy. At this time, we don't believe any credits or refunds are due to the Homeowner because the work is not complete and therefore there is no final invoice created yet. Once the work is done, we will be willing to address any remaining concerns in regard to a discount or credit of some type. As far as lost wages are concerned, we don't believe we owe any credit to her for that, since every day we were on the job site, she was not present, and at work.

I explained to the sales person how it looked like...

it would work and he told me that he was the expert, does this every day and that I wouldn't have to pay any thing else.

The ONLY way I would be convinced of this, is if he EXPLICITLY summed up what he was saying, so he wrote and signed the following......"Roof 8727.99, down payment - 6905.23, Depreciation 1822.76 Upon completion this money comes from insurance company not customer." (attached)
..We both signed it, he smiled and said "ok do you believe me now? It's right there in writing"
Your contract (as you stated in your reply) says "unless otherwise agreed". How is it that him explicitly laying out the money paid, money due and where it would come from, is not "otherwise agreed" language?
Bottom line....It's real simple and straight forward when the sales person says "You get a check from insurance and you write a check to us for the same amount...that's it....trust me".
However when it's time to collect it suddenly becomes a complex situation with the new bottom line being, "Pay us or we take you to court and you will not only pay the invoice, but will be responsible for our team of lawyers that are billed at 500 an hour each!!!".
Honestly, that 180 degree turn from "trust us" with a smile, to "I don't care what you were told and what you signed...PAY US!" with a threat, is what I feel was the worst part of the experience.
I'm pretty sure a court would have sided with the clear written language and simple math that the sales person spelled out and signed, over the pages of fine print that you allude to. Especially when it says "unless otherwise agreed" in the contract -
I thought I had myself covered by insisting on clear and simple written language spelling out the situation, but I didn't foresee that I would be put in a position to gamble $1800 against tens of thousands to find out. So I commend you. That was solid play that I will ensure to beware of in the future and I advise others to do the same.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/12/23) */
Mr. [redacted],
I'm sorry that we still can't get you to understand. The price was $8727.99 on the date that you signed the contract. Your contract would have remained at this dollar amount if no other work was to be done. Through review of the file, we found that the payment from the insurance was missing the chimney flashing and the drip edge. These items were both completed by EZ Home Solutions and paid for by the insurance, as laid out in the previous response. Thus, in lieu of these changes the contract amount has changed by that dollar amount. I'm sorry you don't understand this, everything that we laid out for you in the previous response is 100% verifiable by the insurance documents provided to you by your insurance company. We would be more than happy to come out at any time to explain this to you, like we have done a multitude of times in the past. Please contact us if you would like us to sit in person and explain this to you. If you have not saved a copy of the documents provided to you from your insurance company, please submit the request to us in writing and we will gladly send them out to you within three business days of the receipt of request. At this time, we believe this issue of understanding, not a complaint, and the Revdex.com's involvement is no longer necessary.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2014/10/16) */
I resolved this issue with satisfaction to the homeowner before we received the original complaint. Our contract dated 6/5 was for the EPDM roofing along with the chimney & wall flashing on the power pitched roof. During the work on the...

flat roof, completed 7/3, we discovered an issue where the fascia & j-channel meet. This area allowed water to enter behind the siding & would not be fixed by doing the roof. After inspecting the chimney & wall flashing, we felt it wasn't necessary to replace them because no area looked suspect to a leak. On 7/21 I explained this to [redacted] the son, because there is a communication barrier with the parents, which didn't allow us to actually speak to the people who signed the contract. We agreed to add the fascia to the upper roof to solve the problem we found, instead of replacing the flashings. On 7/29 this work was complete & a final invoice was sent. Manager [redacted] did an inspection on 8/18 to clarify the miscommunicationbetween what had been contracted to do & what had been done to solve the problem that we encountered. At the inspection, [redacted] the son, had shown [redacted] a video pf a leak that appeared to be coming from an area near the flashing that was not replaced. At that point, I had no knowledge of any repair needed on the 'corner' of the siding. The contract does not state this is a repair to be made. 9/18 - I sent the crew to remove the siding, check the wall flashing * replace if necessary. After this was done, we again requested final payment. 9/21 - After the homeowner reported the work failing another water test, I made an appointment with In [redacted] to inspect the work again. 9/24 - I did an onsite visit in the morning and did another water test. I found no signs of any problems on the work that we were contracted to do. Additionally, we did not charge them for the fascia work or the inspection of the wall flashing behind the siding on the dormer. Considered all issues resolved, and collected final paymetn
