Review: Contractor Mr. [redacted] agreed to prep, pour, color, and stamp 10 yards of concrete in our back yard, employees came to do the work planned by me and Mr. [redacted] but his employees had no idea where the concrete was going to be poured, Mr. [redacted] had to come to explain what we planned and left on the day of the prep, his employees arrived the next day to pour the colored concrete and stamp it, upon completion we were told it should cure in 2 weeks, we have stayed off the concrete and its been two weeks since the work was preformed, today upon inspection of the work I found a huge crack in a slab of the concrete, the stamping was poorly done with areas that were not properly stamped and other areas that were stamped with too much force causing the lines to overlap with sharp edges there is also alot of chipping and rocks visible on the surface of the concrete, we were charged for a pump rental to pump the concrete from the street to the back yard which they never did, wheelbarrows were used instead they also charged me cleanup fees and our yard was left a mess with u shaped nails coke cans water bottles and debris of their work preformed I have gone to Mr. [redacted] place of business and no one answers the door it seems he does business out of his personal home and garage in the back yardDesired Settlement: Mr. [redacted] and I agreed on 5,000 cash with a down payment of 2,000 which was given to Mr. [redacted] before the work was started, we agreed on 3 payments of 1,000 a month on the remainder balance of 3,000 to be paid in three months, I am requesting the 3,000 balance be waived do to poor quality of work and service, I have a professional company coming to give me an estimate on repairing the work Mr. [redacted]'s employees did, just by talking to the new company they advised me the entire slab of concrete will need to be taken out and redone properly

In short version none of Customer's complain statement is true, anyone can inspect the job performed at Customer place, and I can be reach at my phone and at my business address (home address). After I received this complain letter I tried to reach my customer without luck, he told me that he was out of town, then on June 09, 2014 I did a surprise visit to our customer to talk about this issue. While I was on the phone with them, they denied being at home while I was listing them talking inside the home, then they hang up on me, I tried one more time, but this time they did not respond not event to the phone call.

Please, take the necessary steps to remove this complain of my business from your posing, I think they trying to get a "free lunch". If this issue keep going after the next payment day, and if he default to our original agreement I will request the full payment without a grace period after June 15, 2014.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: Contracted [redacted] owner of ECE Construction Inc by [redacted] Iron Works to pour decorative stamp concrete in the color of cocoa milk on June 11, 2014. The product did not match color we were presented and had cracks through the concrete hours into job. Concrete is different colors through out job as well. [redacted] was notified immediately after job was complete of issues with cracking and discoloration of concrete through out the job. [redacted] returned to job and assessed issues with concrete. At the time I told [redacted] I wanted job redone, but [redacted] wanted to try sealing concrete first and advised me if sealant did not work he would replace the concrete. Concrete still proceeded to crack after several months. [redacted] has been notified several times after the sealant was done. [redacted] came out several times to assessed the issues with concrete, the inspector from the concrete supply company came out as well which stated [redacted] added 85 Gallons of water to load which resulted in concrete break down and discoloration of color. We have proof of pictures of issues with concrete and saved text messages from [redacted] stating he will replace concrete.Desired Settlement: I want the concrete removed and replaced or 100% refund and concrete removed and hauled off.

Hi, This is an alternative method of responding to this complain due that the internet option is not working. Fist of all, We are willing to keep our clients happy with the work we perform.Like in others stories, this have two way of seeing it.We, E C E Construction, Inc., are aware of the issue the customer is complaining about, since the beginning we recognize the issue with the initial crack happen in the circle requested by the client directly to our employee, and this circle was off of "control joins", which are designed to control the cracks on the concrete, which always happen. Then After we spoke with our client he agreed to let this specific crack and color issue, poor concrete quality, in return we offer him to do the sealing job for free, but never was a promise that it will solve the issue with the crack. Now, some month after, seems like our client installed a Hot Tube in the concrete and it shows new cracks. Now we are willing to change the concrete free or charge, but I will request the sealing job to be paid due that our client wants to walk away from our agreement. Our fee is $2 sf, but we are willing to get three different quotes and take the middle one as price. Again, we agreed to do sealing job in return for the crack, now if the client wants the concrete to be replaced, I just want to be paid for the sealing application job. Anyway, this in only one alternative, but like we said we are fully committed to keep or clients happy, if our client contact us we have this and others alternatives to solve this matter to our client satisfaction.

I am rejecting this response because: For one right after the concrete was completed, there were multiple cracks that were not located in joints as [redacted] stated (which we can provide pictures of entire job) and discoloration that appeared through out entire job. I advised [redacted] job was unacceptable and job must be redone. At that time he asked if he could try sealing concrete at his cost not mine! before replacing concrete to see if it would correct discoloration and cracking, [redacted] also stated if it turned out unsatisfactory he would replace the concrete no questions asked! Further more if [redacted] can provide any documentation that we agreed upon his stated accusations that I signed stating otherwise on the sealant job that I would pay $2.00 a square foot please provide it. [redacted] was fully aware of hot tub location prior to concrete being poured as I [redacted] met with [redacted] owner of ECE and concrete crew foreman making sure they both were aware of precise location of hot tub and at that time both stated there was no concern of hot tub sitting on concrete. Inspector from CCE which is the concrete company came out to inspect job the following day of pour and clearly stated that concrete came from the plant under complete specs and he also stated that on drivers concrete ledger [redacted] added 80 extra gallons of water to load and that was the reason for weak concrete and faded and discoloration. So at this time I will not agree to these terms of [redacted] owner of ECE I feel strongly about ECE neglect of improper pouring of colored decorative concrete. I also tried to make contact with [redacted] on January 2, 2015 at 1:55 pm and once again he has failed to cooperate or respond back to me on other options he had on mind that he stated.
