E & E Enterprises Reviews (1)

Review: On September 22, 2012 [redacted], owner of E & E Enterprises emailed me a proposal to paint my house. The house is a small two family that is 2/3 brick.I called Mr. [redacted] the following day to discuss the proposal. During this conversation, I asked if the house needed to be sanded because I was unsure if it was standard to sand or just to scrape. Mr. [redacted] was emphatic that the house did not need to be sanded and explained that sanding was not standard. He elaborated that he power washes and scrapes the exterior and that this is all that is needed. I stated that I just wanted to make sure that the surface would look good and smooth. He assured me that it would in fact look good and smooth. I called Mr. [redacted] back and asked him if he brushed back over the paint after he sprayed. He stated that he always does this and reiterated that the surface would look smooth from scraping and painting. I gave him the go ahead to start the job and the following week gave him his requested initial deposit of $750.00.Two days later after starting the job, Mr. [redacted] called me and stated that the house needed to be sanded in order for the surface to look smooth and that this would cost an additional $400.00. I replied that he had assured me before I hired him that it did not need sanding and that it would look good and smooth without sanding. I also mentioned that I was the one who asked if it needed sanding and was doubtful as to whether he would have even brought sanding up if I had not inquired about it initially. I told him that I was surprised that he was now trying to charge me an extra $400.00 for work he assured me did not need to be done before I hired him. Mr. [redacted] stated that the job would look good and smooth without sanding but that it would not look like brand new wood, with just a "few" fine lines showing. I told him that it did not need to look like brand new wood but that I expected it to look smooth, as he promised when I hired him without paying $400.00 more than his initial proposal. He stated again that it would look good and smooth without sanding. On Friday September 28, 2012 Mr [redacted] informed us that the job was complete. My girlfriend and I went outside to look over the work. We expressed serious concern regarding the quality of the work that was completed and pointed out work that had yet to be completed, places where paint had been over-sprayed and/or over-painted on brick and other parts of the property. Mr. [redacted] became argumentative. After we stated that he would not receive the rest of his pay until the work was completed and fixed, he asked if we could talk about it over the weekend. I tried to contact him by telephone but was unable to reach him.On Sunday I sent him the following email:Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2012 6:07 PMSubject: PaintingMr. [redacted]You did not return my call when I left a message Friday evening. Since then I tried to contact you but was unable a leave a message. We are very concerned with the quality of the painting work that we contracted you to do. There is still much work that needs to be completed and much work that needs to be redone. The job you did as it stands is unacceptable. We are completing a list of issues that need to be addressed. We are having it inspected tomorrow by a third party on Monday and will give you a list detailing what needs to be done by tomorrow evening. Sincerely,On Monday I received this unprofessional email:Monday, October 1, 2012 10:11 AMFrom:This sender is DomainKeys verified"[redacted]" Add sender to ContactsTo:Hello. sorry bout friday I work 14hrs that day and 5 mins before you came out my son called me crying cause my father-in-law had a heart attack while babysitting him and his sister and I needed to get to the hospital. I was only trying to leave for the day.On top of that my girl friend was busting my nuts cause was late for a dinner she planned before she left for cincanati. We ended up arguing and my phone and computer got locked up in her place til she got back this morning. Please tell your girl I sincerly apoligse for running low on patience. As far as the painting goes I never said the job was complete.I have a half a day of work to do before I will ask you to do walk thorough.I warenty my work for two years . If paint were to peel or buble I come and fix it. Its just paint. No worries. Im tied up til wed. on a job with a dead line. I will call you tues night to talk. I will need you to take out storm windows up and down so I can get to windows behind them. Also note that I painted all your gutters on house and garage at no charge to you.Would have been about 300 extra. I only want happy clients and do what I can with in reason to make that happen. Sincerly[redacted] As a matter of fact, we told Mr. [redacted] before he started work that we did not want the gutters painted. After a series of canceled appointments by Mr. [redacted] he finally met with us on Thursday of the next week. We started to walk around the house with him and pointed out why we were dissatisfied. Mr. [redacted] stood with his arms crossed looking down at the ground and argued with each statement we made. We asked him if he would look at what we were showing him instead of at the ground. He continued to look away and raise his voice with excuses. He became even more argumentative. His tone and volume of voice and body language became aggressive and I had to ask him to leave the property. We have not heard from him since then.Desired Settlement: Complete the work to our satisfaction as outlined in the written proposal and repair damage according to the punch list previously mailed to Mr. [redacted] or provide a full refund of $750.00.
