To whom it may concern, On November 2nd , I met with [redacted] to address an issue he was having with leaking gutters ( installed by others as part of a patio cover ) He showed me the areas where he was having leaks, and at that time I informed Mr [redacted] that we do not seal or try to service existing guttersIf that was a something we did , I would not have sold him the new gutters for the area above( to limit the amount of rain from entering the existing gutter ) ( see attached detail )After a rain, our office recieved a call from [redacted] to inform us his gutter was leaking Mike O [redacted] ( our production manager) visited the site with the original installer Carlos Mike proceeded to use a hose and run water on the roof ( through the scuppers ) ( see attached ) The water exited the roof scuppers and into our new gutters After several minutes, no leaks occured in our new gutter system Then, with Mr [redacted] present, Mike ran water directly into the gutter system below and Mr [redacted] pointed out the leaks We cannot in good faith take responsibilty for existing gutters After Mike O [redacted] was not able to work out a solution with Mr [redacted] , I was brought into the communication process I had a long phone conversation with Mr [redacted] ( I believe in late May ) I informed him that the water that enters the previous gutter system directly from the sky is what is leaking from the existing gutter I offered a couple solutions they he did not accept as reasonableIf the previous sytem were to be removed, that would eliminate the dripping created by the buildup of the water that reaches the gutter directly I informed him that we could address that , but it would be an additional fee He did not accept the need for a fee

On November 2nd , I met with *** *** to address an issue he was having with leaking gutters ( installed by others as part of a patio cover ) . He showed me the areas where he was having leaks, and at that time I informed Mr*** that we do not seal or try to service existing gutters. If that was a something we did , I would not have sold him the new gutters for the area above( to limit the amount of rain from entering the existing gutter ) ( see attached detail ). This conversation never took place on servicing the old guttersIf he knew that the old gutters would still leak why didn't he say something at the time he wrote the bill up and would have them removedNow he wants additional monies to do that workI still have the leaks I started with. After a rain, our office recieved a call from *** *** to inform us his gutter was leaking. Mike O*** ( our production manager) visited the site with the original installer Carlos. Mike proceeded to use a hose and run water on the roof ( through the scuppers ) ( see attached ) . The water exited the roof scuppers and into our new gutters. After several minutes, no leaks occured in our new gutter system. Then, with Mr *** present, Mike ran water directly into the gutter system below and Mr*** pointed out the leaks. We cannot in good faith take responsibilty for existing gutters. Mike didn't come out if the installerHe came out with two kids that handed him a latter and caulk so he could on the roofHe did use the hose and there appeared to be no leaksI'm not the professional, they are and should have known that the old gutters needed to be removed. After Mike O*** was not able to work out a solution with Mr ***, I was brought into the communication process . I had a long phone conversation with Mr *** ( I believe in late May ) . I informed him that the water that enters the previous gutter system directly from the sky is what is leaking from the existing gutter. I offered a couple solutions they he did not accept as reasonableIf the previous sytem were to be removed, that would eliminate the dripping created by the buildup of the water that reaches the gutter directly . I informed him that we could address that , but it would be an additional fee. He did not accept the need for a fee. Now he wants additional monies to do work he should have done in the beginningI'm a reasonable man but, he wanted another fee just to come out to look at itAgain if he knew what the problem was why didn't he and or his crew take care of it in the beginning

This conversation never took place on servicing the old guttersIf he knew that the old gutters would still leak why didn't he say something at the time he wrote the bill up and would have them removedNow he wants additional monies to do that workI still have the leaks I started with. It has always been, and will always be our policy, “we do not repair existing leaking gutters on other contractors work ”. I have this conversation with every client . Mr*** claims we did not have this conversation and my contention is that we did have the standard conversation I have with all my clients. The new gutters were installed above the previously leaking gutters to catch the roof water and ease the amount of water entering the previously installed gutters below. As stated above, we do not change the integrity of other contractors work . Professional courtesy amongst contractors works both ways. I would not want other contractors changing my work, so why would I change their work. If the gutters need to be removed, this is additional work that we do not feel comfortable taking on for the above reasons. If we decide to take it on, against our judgement , it is additional work not defined in the contract and we would need to be compensated for additional work. Now he wants additional monies to do work he should have done in the beginningI'm a reasonable man but, he wanted another fee just to come out to look at itAgain if he knew what the problem was why didn't he and or his crew take care of it in the beginning. See above for the redundant answer
