Review :
Very dissatisfied with Desert Cactus Lawn Care as we hired them to build a retaining wall, firer pit and lay pavers. This company is not a licensed company. They claim to have 17 years in experience but it's obvious the experience is not in laying pavers or working with concrete. While the job was being done they made SEVERAL OBVIOUS mistakes and had to redo just about everything throughout the job. Pictures were shown from the beginning to describe our expectations and yet he didn't seem to understand. The owner Matt was very confrontational and defensive when I talk to him but then when my husband would talk to him he would be more responsive. He left things a mess with lunch trash, large broken concrete, cigarette butts, pallets, and shrink wrap. They had to be told several times to pick up their trash. We even used our dump trailer to dispose of it. They left for the weekend while leaving an electrical saw with blade PLUGGED IN on my back patio for one of my 5 young children to find along with an open pocket knife. This mistake was found at the hands of my toddler. I felt Matt took advantage of my husband being out of town for most of the job and constantly begging me for final payment so I had paid him in full before my husband returned because he had taken so long on the job and was unable to pay his employees. When he returned my husband and Matt discussed the finished/unfinished work. My husband let him know that after all we had been through with him we felt he was not experienced enough or able to make the proper corrections needed to complete the expectations of a $9000.00 job. We had given him SEVERAL opportunities to do so throughout the job. At this time we have had a few estimates of fixing and completing the job and let Matt know of the cost. We have run into the situation where it will cost more because a lot of it will need to be taken apart to be put back together correctly for proper functionality. The gaps in concrete and pavers along with the globs of concrete and missing stucco needs to be completely redone and is more work then when doing it right the FIRST TIME instead of cutting corners. Matt try's to represent himself as though he is a stand up guy that knows its incomplete and a mess but then response with threats and ridicules accusations. We did our part as his customer and tried to work with him and adjust our expectations. But when your constantly getting a measuring tape or leveler to show them their mistakes you could see are over a foot off with your naked eye it gets VERY FRUSTRATING. Then to have a company/person make you feel like your a difficult customer. I feel Matt is very dishonest and inexperienced. We were told he was a contractor and advertises himself for residential and commercial to later find out he is not Licensed or insured. If I had known he was not a registered contractor I would have never used him.
