Hello! I am not a member of the Revdex.com and do not consent to jurisdiction of the Revdex.com to resolve any complaints against my company. DC Estates LLC is a Mdlicensed estate sale companyWe run full house estate sales in which everything in the house is available for sale AS ISWe post prominently
throughout our houses that all buyers should inspect carefully and that all items are as is and we make no returns. In addition, we do NOT provide delivery services but give phone numbers for local movers who might be able to helpIn this instance a purchaser asked on of my day laborers, a teenage helper, to deliver a heavy china cupboardShe made those arrangements privatel with him, and they were not authorized by the company nor would we ever do so as our signage is clear : "DC Estates LLC does not provide packing, loading or moving servicesIf you attempt to make private arrangements with one of our staff to do so it is solely at your own risk. " We do not have employees and the young people who staff our sales work on a daily basis and are issued 1099sThe young gentleman was persuaded by the complaintant to move a heavy piece on his own and against his better judgwment and whether or not damage occurred in transporting or preexisted, it was the responsibility of the BUYER to examine the used merchandise and not of DC Estates LLC, who makes NO guarantees which simply cannot exist in the world of estate sales , which a huge number of preowned items, many of which may not be complete or undamaged or workingThus our signs are in full compliance with industry standard which is that there are NO returns or refunds of estate sale itemsI'm sorry the buyer is unhappy with her decision and did not choose to hire a reputable mover, but rather a young teenager, for a pittance, but it is not our responsibilityThank youAgain, we do NOT consent to publication of any information about DC Estates or to any arbitration/mediation services of the Revdex.comThank you !

I am rejecting this response because: The owner is not telling the entire story and is hiding behind a mover when the damage occurred when in her care. The item was in the home that she controlled and the damage occurred before the item was in transit to my home. Of course I purchased the item "as is" but I inspected it carefully and nothing was broken when I paid for it. It had two complete unbroken shelves and a locking mechanism. The doors were able to be closed, and that is not the case now. But most importantly, given the damage which the mover told her about when he delivered it and saw my dissatisfaction, she offered to take back the item the day it was delivered and both I and the mover spoke to her. Yet and when an hour or two later that day I decided to take her up on the offer, she ignored my calls and emails and avoided me for two weeks.   She finally offered a $200 discount which will not cover the damage. She should have the item brought up to the condition it was sold as, or take it back.  thank you.
