D2K Construction Services was recommended by my Realtor to install a new A/C Unit on a home I was buying. Their communication was horrendous. "Dave" ignored me several times by not returning my phone calls/emails nor complying with my requests. I had no knowledge or opinions about which brand of A/C unit he would install, but when I asked him what brand, he said he couldn't tell me because it depended on what was available that day. When I told him I want a 16 SEER unit he said the best he could do is a 14 SEER unit. Upon researching replacing A/C units, I called Dave to specifically confirm the A/C ducts would be sealed to ensure energy efficiency. When Dave finally returned my call, he said of course. My realtor had to ask for an extension to Close Escrow because D2K would not respond nor commit to an exact date of install. Their craftsmanship was very poor. The removal of the previous unit left screw holes in my roof that went unsealed causing a water damage in my attic. The wire connections that run from the unit to the thermostat were secured by only wire-nuts which were tucked into the A/C frame leaving the wires exposed to rain which could short circuit the unit. The first winter, the heat wouldn't turn on. D2K sent out two men who didn't speak English to replace my thermostat saying it was broken. Upon installation of the unit, the return and supply ducts for the A/C unit were not joined, attached, or sealed directly to the actual A/C Unit leaving a 1/2" to 3/4" inch gap all the way around both main ducts. This caused my unit to suck in dirty air from the outside, the unit to work harder, my utility bills to skyrocket, and the blower motor of the unit to unexpectedly die within the first 2 years of operation. The motor was under warranty, but I paid $350.00 toward labor. Additionally, I paid costs of materials to seal the ducts to the unit and plug the screw holes and replace moldy attic insulation. I do have photos of craftsmanship issues.
