Mr*** purchased his Ford F-under as warranty terms on 2/17/After his purchase, Mr*** called to inform us that the truck had a mechanical issueWe offered to buy his truck back, but he asked us to split the repair bill with him because he would rather keep the truckWe
were not legally obligated to do this, but we strive to keep our customers happy and in this case felt like this would make Mr*** happyMr*** said he was satisfied after the repairs were made and thanked me for paying half of the $2,repair bill 3/23/After these repairs were made Mr*** made a claim with the Missouri Attorney General on 5/4/stating that now the catalytic converters needed to be replaced on his truckWe responded to that claim and made it clear that we have gone above and beyond on a "as is" purchase and that we stand by our sales and practices shown by paying half of his $ 2,repair billPlease feel free to contact me with any further questions or documents. Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:The response from Chesterfield Motor Sports leaves out a few key pieces of the story. Yes, they offered to take their truck back and "sell" us our old truck back for $1100. We received a quote from Affordable Automotive for $3,for the timing chain, timing solenoids, cam phasers, spark plugs, timing arm and labor. The dealership agreed to do half, then once we picked up the truck we were informed that the dealership backed out of the spark plugs portion of the quote. My wife called and the dealership claimed this was not part of our agreement. If the spark plugs would have been replaced, as the agreement was set to do, the issue of the cylinders and converters would have come forward quicker than the two weeks after the repair. The dealership was not thanked for their service as they proved at that point to be unhonest about their practices. Although the truck was not sold with a warranty, I was told that they truck would perform in which it did not. After spending the $in above mentioned repairs and additional $was spent on flushes, Nocylinders, spark plugs, and a 4Xvacuum issue, our total out of pocket expense is $+ travel. Their entire basis for the response to the attorney general complaint, which was filed by my wife, was that they did not do business with her, so they didn't have to address the issues. Sadly it is a case of a dealership buying a vehicle at an auto-auction, realizing once they drove it the condition it was in, then finding a salesman who was willing to make unhonest claims about the vehicle in order to sell it. These should not be considered they best practices of a legitimate business
Sincerely,
